    I just want to say that I really appreciate you taking the time to make these videos. I wrestled in middle school and high school. I'm fighting in mixed martial arts now. It seems like there are some parts of wrestling you have to "unlearn" for MMA and this has made my offensive wrestling way worse in the cage. I hesitate more and sometimes choose to keep striking when I probably should have gone for a takedown. These videos are still very helpful and I just try to adapt them to the best of my ability. Great job being thorough and detail oriented while explaining.

    Living in the UK, with wrestling being somewhat almost non existent, I have to rely on videos to clarify certain things. My teacher is russian, and a good teacher but there is a language barrier so it is a struggle. Thank you Mr kolat for these amazing videos. The clarity is awesome

      +teentalex Good nutrition and good hydration are essential and eating a balanced diet is the most important thing for young athletes. Shortcuts are dangerous - train hard and nourish your body. Wrestle at a weight that is comfortable and allows you to learn and grow in the sport.

    Great video! It seems like the move is like a scissor takedown except that instead of the other leg, you're using your hand. Given that, is there a risk of injuring the opponent's ankle like you would in a scissor takedown?

    • @kaiceecrane3884
      @kaiceecrane3884 6 років тому

      Linus Tiu what makes it "dangerous" is the fall itself. The person doing to thow needs to control the head before and while going down so your oppent falls properly. Watch the video again, Kolat does so indurectly by controlling the shoulders

    Its great but be careful when you are practicing this with your partner as you can tear their knee out just like kani basami in Judo/Sambo… Its prohibited in many competitions just for that reason alone. Once you tear your ACL \ PCL its impossible to heal without surgery…

    • @kaijublue1151
      @kaijublue1151 6 місяців тому

      its a lot safer with the hand as opposed to using your leg like in kani basami

    Kolat not sure how you are getting your opponent going backwards, seem my opponent wants to go forward. Or I'm pulling my opponent on top of me. Only thing I can think is happening is my opponent not holding my leg tight enough.

    • @KOLATCOM
      @KOLATCOM  7 років тому +1

      You have to hop behind your opponents near leg and lower your level quickly as you grab behind the knee to take him backwards. You must drill this many times in practice to get the feel and timing for the move. First you must learn the hop and scoop motion so you can do it quickly and smoothly you will need to drill this everyday for several weeks. Next you need to work with increased resistance from your partner to learn the speed and timing in a real match situation. Start at 50% resistance and work your way up to 80% or 90% for drilling purposes before you try to execute this in a live situation. You need to continue working on it and feeling it out. Just because you can see the move and understand my demonstration doesn't mean that you can time it and execute it easily on the mat. Most moves take years of drilling and development to be useful in live situations against challenging opponents so you have to be willing to work toward perfection over time.

    good move but doesn't the guy run the pipe quickly when he has a single leg?

    • @KOLATCOM
      @KOLATCOM  8 років тому

      +Vincent Renardi Linaksana (Vince) If he runs the pipe right away you get hand control and hop with it while waiting for an opportunity when he tries to change off. Running the pipe is easy to defend its the second or third move from there that you need to be ready for.
