I have an induction cook top and absolutely love it, I use a paper towel or sponge to wipe up large spots or grease on the top and then go over it with a damp glass cleaning cloth and it dries streak and spot free. Love the induction glass top ease.
I have an electric stove with the coils and it drives me nuts when I accidentally get oil or grease on a burner because within 10 seconds the extremely sensitive smoke detectors go off!! I live in the country but still have neighbors close enough to hear and one morning a neighbors granddaughter told her she could "hear" me making breakfast--lol.
brown bird What?!?! A glass cooktop is definitely not the best for cooking but it is SOOOO easy to clean. 30 seconds each night to wipe off with an occasional application of Weiman’s glass cooktop cleaner.
I’ve had glass cooktops for 10 years or more. I use Cerama Bryte cleaner which works well, but I will be looking for one of those scrubbers. I actually had to replace my cookware after I bought my first glass top stove, because the bottom of my old pans were pretty yucky and would stain the cook top. I finally invested in some really good cookware and keep the bottoms scrupulously clean, so no more problems.
I inherited a white gas stove from the previous owners and I spend so much time soaking and scrubbing the burner plates and they still always look so grungy 😭 I heard a tip to try soaking them in the sink with hot water & dishwasher tabs overnight. Trying that this weekend 🤞🏼

I had an electric glass top stove and was also frustrated trying to get it clean. When I was getting my house ready to sell, I stumbled upon the perfect tool and wondered why I didn't think of it sooner! It's a razor blade of all things. I found it in the appliance department at Home Depot in a cleaning kit for glass top stoves. It had a handle for the blade, a scrubbing pad and a small bottle of cleaner in the kit as well. It was soooo easy to clean.
I had the coil top stove all my life. Just got a new glass top stove 2 weeks ago. I am using the ceramobryte cleaner with the sponge it came with. Seems harder and harder to keep clean now as I am cooking alot. So afraid of scratching it but the kit came with a regular razor blade scraper too. I do like the fact that stuff is not going underneath burners.
Going to try to get the cook top wand you showed and try that because so far I have no luck in getting all of the burnt on debris off the top. I used soft scrub, bar tenders keeper and a razor blade and no luck. Thanks for the suggestion. TFS and take care........stay safe.

Hi Melissa could you recommend some granite countertop sealants and are there any DIY ones. Do you seal your countertops yourself or get them done professionally and how often? Thanks
You can do this yourself. There are many clean and seal sprays that are available at your big box hardware stores like Home Depot and Lowes. It doesn't require rubber gloves and doesn't dispel fumes. It's as easy as spray and wipe. You'll know that it needs to be done again when spilled water isn't beading up anymore.
I'm definitely looking for that Scotch brand glass cook top cleaning wand next time I shop! This was a much needed tutorial. Thanks! I've got at least two problem areas in the kitchen. One is, how do I clean the oven door vents that are behind the handle? Stuff gets in there including dust and I can't get it all out. I wipe the door handle down every time I use the stove, but still can't get the vents thoroughly clean. Another cleaning sore spot for me is how to clean the inside walls of a toaster-convection oven. I can't seen to get all the grease spots out so I've just resorted to lining the removable base crumb tray with foil so I at least don't have to constantly look at the build-up and just wipe clean or replace the foil when needed. I've ruined several toaster oven accessory trays, nearly removing the enamel, just trying to get them clean. Total failure. Sigh..,

Someone told me about this liquid cleaner that works great for her wooden cabinets. I forgot the name but it's a golden color type of liquid. It might even have golden in the name
I found that drinking hot lemon water (hot water infused with lemon juice) works also great to clean your mug from all the tea/coffee stains. After drinking it and rinsing the mug it comes right off. And it's a healthy way to start the day! :)
I have a stainless steel gas cooktop with 6 jets. I love it. If I ever get stuff that won't come up easily I just boil the kettle and drizzle a little bit of boiling water on the spot and let it sit for a couple of minutes. I never have to scrub too hard or scratch up the surface with a scourer. I hate trying to clean the little collar thing that sits right under the gas jet, between that and the cooktop surface.
Wow I am a pro and I didn't know that 😂. One day when I was taking a pan out of the bottom cabinet, I turned my eyes to the countertop and OMG 😲 I thought it was cleaned, but it wasn't. That eye level really works, I keep doing it even since. I love your videos.
At my apt for 13 years I had a coil stove and it was a pain in the butt! Now at my house I have a glass cook top and I absolutely love it! I use Weiman cook top cleaner and a scraper blade - much easier to maintain, but now I'm curious to try that wand and see how it compares 👍
I'm definitely looking for the glasstop wand because I have the glass top. Boiled over stains are horrifying. I bought a spray granite cleaner and the sealer spray too so it is on my list for this summer.
Brilliant tips thank you! I have a stainless steel flat plate electric hob. The stainless steel around the plates gets really stained brown and burnt looking. I haven't yet found a way to clean it fully (I don't use harsh chemicals) and it's so frustrating that it never looks nice! If you could suggest anything to tackle this I'd love you forever!! 🙏
I’ve got a gas cooktop with such heavy grates. I love cooking with gas but removing those grates to clean the stove is pretty difficult. Thanks for your excellent video, by the way!
I have an electric stove with a glass cooktop. I would never buy that again if I had my druthers. They are so hard to keep clean. I keep my sink clean and try to clean my fridge weekly before I buy groceries for the week. I hate a dirty fridge! The glass cooktop gets spotted like crazy...I make a concerted effort to keep it nice. I hate to see that ring of build up you see on so many glass cooktops. I work hard to keep that away!
When we bought our gas cooktop, I chose the lighter gray grates because the cooktop itself was biscuit color. I hate those grates now! I found out quickly that they do not stay light gray. They get coated with burned on mess from cooking. I have sometimes taken them, put them in a plastic garbage bag with some ammonia and let them sit overnight. That helps loosen the grunge but they have never really gone back to looking like they did when they were new.
Have a gas cook top that I love but the black grates bothered me till one day I realized they fit in my dishwasher .they look brand new. Only do that once in while.like after pasta sauce explosion
I have a gas stove top. And the thing that makes me crazy is 1. I cook with lard and each time I cook I get grease all over the place. What’s the best way to clean it each time 2. Do I clean the cast iron grates each time I cook too. And how do I clean the grease off those. and 3. I have stuck on stuff like food and grease around the burners. How do I remove that? And my stove has an exhaust fan over it. How do you clean that area? Thanks. I love your videos 😍👍🏾
I have a gas cooktop that is black, and the grates are cast iron. cleaning it is fine and I usually use goo gone. i dont know if that is proper care, but it works pretty well for us.
Suggestions wanted for cleaning around the burners on a gas cook top. Around the burners on the drip pan area, I have an accumulation of baked on crud. I have used Bartenders with a lot of elbow grease....
I LOVED the tips. I have a gas stove top and what drives me crazy are the removable grates. They are really hard to clean even if I got someone to clean, they're never clean enough

Hi Melanie 😊🌺 I found you.🤩. We have one orange 🍊 left. I wonder if that would be enough...well actually I have peels from one orange already. So ,maybe the peels of 2 oranges would be enough. With white vinegar & water and a few drops of dishsoap.🍊🍊🍊 I'm going to try that right now.🏡☀️
@@rosearthur983 Hi Rose! 🦋🌟🤗 So neat that you found me! It was like a treasure hunt! 😆 Very cool..great team work 🤝 Your concoction sounds great! 🏡☀️ This is a great idea to use up orange peels! 🍊🌼😌

I’ve always hated the smell of vinegar & so haven’t used it when cleaning. Recently tho I found some Viakal with vinegar & it smells great. For the past week I’ve actually been cleaning my sink every night. Even tho I agree that having a clean & tidy sink is great, what bothers me the most in a kitchen is loads of plates etc on the draining rack. To me, it makes a kitchen look untidy.
I clean the fridge shelves and bins as I use up groceries before a shopping trip, and as I get trash ready to go out the night before I pickup so I rarely have to empty the entire fridge to clean.
Tips for cleaning copper sinks please. I have a stainless steel gas cooktop. Making the aluminium foil cutouts to put in the cooktop to ensure spills , oils don't fall directly on the stainless steel surface is the toughest part of cleaning the cooktop.
This was a great collection of tips, Melissa! Thank you. I’m going to get one of those Scotch glass top wands for my glass, sliding shower doors. For those who have vintage, porcelain sinks or tubs that stain easily, I’ve found that a sprinkle of Nelly’s oxygen brightener powder scrubbed in with a palm brush works very easily and quickly to brighten things up, even if you are chemically sensitive and have chronic wrist pain like I do. Costco sells big tubs if you want to save money on it. I got the idea to use Oxy powder to clean porcelain from you, Melisa, thank you. I just wanted a fragrance free alternative. 🙂 For those who don’t mind artificial fragrances, oxy powder is a lot cheaper.
Currently enjoying apartment living, so coils and drip pans it is here. I miss my gas stove so much! I try to stay on top of the spills in the drip pans (and under them), but it appears that there are some that good ol' fashioned elbow grease + Norwex cleaning paste can't quite beat. Suggestions, Melissa? Would soaking them in hot water and vinegar help?
The iron grates on my cooktop are so difficult to clean! It peels easily and rusts if I'm not careful. Please provide tips on how to clean it and maintain it daily. Thank you!
for the glass top i use a regular hair shampoo and a bamboo cloth(i just like this one, microfiber can do as well). put a small amount on top, distribut everywere , let sit for 3 min then rinse.
Induction cooktop. Is there a way to get rid of the Shadow or halo left where the pot sits? It is most visible when wiping with a wet cloth and the water seems to dry quickly in that circle. Thanks for all the tips!
I have a glass top cook top and I find the less I use it the more it stays clean Lol 😂, but we have a product here in Australia called “Koh” and it removes any kind of stains on your cooktop and oven, they have a diamond head sponge that doesn’t scratch the glass at all, it’s a One step cleaner for just about everything in your home, especially shower screens and windows, they even have a spray mop which is all I use to clean our tiled floors with no streaks what so ever, it’s chemical free and has no smell but you can add your own essential oils to it of your liking.
Thanks very much for watching our videos Lariza!
At my apt for 13 years I had a coil stove and it was a pain in the butt! Now at my house I have a glass cook top and I absolutely love it! I use Weiman cook top cleaner and a scraper blade - much easier to maintain, but now I'm curious to try that wand and see how it compares 👍
We have a gas stovetop. Those grates are what get me! I just don't like cleaning them. 🤷
I put mine in the dishwasher
@@Anonymous502 I never thought of that! Thank you for the suggestion!
Same!
My stove is coils and I can never get it absolutely clean
It ticks me off just looking at it
Magic eraser is the best for cleaning stained mugs :)
I'm definitely looking for the glasstop wand because I have the glass top. Boiled over stains are horrifying. I bought a spray granite cleaner and the sealer spray too so it is on my list for this summer.
Thank you, really! there's so much I've learned and keep learning with your videos! love your channel!
Kitchen sink question. You’ve had great advice for the sink but I have a porcelain sink. What’s the best way to keep it fresh and clean?
I used the bar keeper powder and that made it look nice and clean
I’ve got a gas cooktop with such heavy grates. I love cooking with gas but removing those grates to clean the stove is pretty difficult. Thanks for your excellent video, by the way!
I put mine in the dishwasher
@@Anonymous502 I'll try that, thanks!!
I like the gas flame.
I’ve never had one. What would you suggest getting instead? 🤔
I agree with you on the glass cooktop! Never again if I can help it.
I hate my glass cooktop. Nothing I’ve tried makes it look completely spotless.
I don’t think that Scott glass cooktop cleaner worked b/c her cooktop still looks spotted or stained.
My kitchen motto is “ Clean as you go”
Same but my partner deosn't
Girl, you’re amazing!
Have a gas cook top that I love but the black grates bothered me till one day I realized they fit in my dishwasher .they look brand new. Only do that once in while.like after pasta sauce explosion
I actually find in a bind magic eraser gets rid of everything burnt on and caked on glass cooktop
Baking soda and a tiny bit of vinegar too!
I have vas’s cook too. When things boil over it’s just so annoying gators clean on the stainless steel l. Love your channel👍
Thank you for the cleaning tip for granite countertops.
Thanks so much Melissa. Love these tips.
CMS POLL: What kind of stovetop do you have?
Electric, but miss having a gas stove. The glass top is hard to keep clean (though your baking soda trick helped!)
Glass but miss gas!!!!!
Clean My Space gas and cleaning the grates drives me crazy. Also getting the stainless steel streak free!
Gas/ cast iron grates hate them! I have tried everything and cant clean those things:(( do you have a video on cleaning cast iron stove top grates?
I have a gas cooktop that is black, and the grates are cast iron. cleaning it is fine and I usually use goo gone. i dont know if that is proper care, but it works pretty well for us.
Suggestions wanted for cleaning around the burners on a gas cook top. Around the burners on the drip pan area, I have an accumulation of baked on crud. I have used Bartenders with a lot of elbow grease....
you are amazing i have learned a lot from just 3 videos keep going
I like your videos very much . I understand lot of things from you. Thank you mam.
Enjoyed your videos as usual. I also love your microfiber cloths I ordered.
I LOVED the tips. I have a gas stove top and what drives me crazy are the removable grates. They are really hard to clean even if I got someone to clean, they're never clean enough
I put mine in the dishwasher
Gas stove. However since I use your DIY cleaning spray it is much easier and cheaper to clean it. So thank you for that.
Fridge cleaning tip: I wash the glass shelves in the tub (building off your oven rack tip) . The shower sprayer also helps when washing off cleaner. The shelves are too big for the kitchen sink. Enjoy videos. --Kevin
I have a flat glass top. Stuff that's hard to get off on it.I like the idea of the Scotch Brite wand. I think I will try it next time I go in town. How long do they last? Also, I like the cool idea of putting orange peels in the vinegar cleaning solution. I bet that smells amazing!😄🌈🌺🌼💐
Hi Rose! 😊🎶
I LOVE the smell of orange!! 💕🌼🍊
The orange peels are such a great idea 🍊🙂
Hi Melanie 😊🌺 I found you.🤩. We have one orange 🍊 left. I wonder if that would be enough...well actually I have peels from one orange already. So ,maybe the peels of 2 oranges would be enough. With white vinegar & water and a few drops of dishsoap.🍊🍊🍊 I'm going to try that right now.🏡☀️
@@rosearthur983 Hi Rose! 🦋🌟🤗 So neat that you found me! It was like a treasure hunt! 😆
Very cool..great team work 🤝
Your concoction sounds great! 🏡☀️
This is a great idea to use up orange peels! 🍊🌼😌
@@melfuz Yes, I got distracted so I didn't eat that last 🍊. To go with the other peels to make my cleaner solution. We're having trouble with our water right now. Can't leave the pump constantly running. So after I fill up my sink to do dishes, or take a shower or flush toilets, I have to turn off the water pump from the inside breaker.
I'm watching Do It On a Dime, The Doves Nest, and Clutterbug & many more... Going to come back to this channel too!🎵🎶🤗🏡☀️
Similar to your eye level test, I had a foods teacher in high school who showed us the “naked hand test”. That’s how she would check how clean the counters were after class
Baking soda it's great, specially to clean the bath tub!!👍👍
Great tips per usual! Thank you!
Do you (or anyone) have any tips on avoiding pet hair getting stuck in microfiber cleaning cloths? After washing them, there are still hairs and it grosses me out lol.
Me too. Its put me right off using my microfibre tea towels (dish towels).
Purplebirman such a bummer since I love the concept of using those to clean!
I have a stainless steel cooktop.
And a glass one is beyond my budget, though the one in the video is so tempting!
We have a glass top. Thanks for all the great tips. I'm definitely going to try adding the orange peel to the vinegar!
Glass cooktop. The groove around the entire cooktop always gets spice powders stuck in there and I can’t get them out...
Idk if it would work, what about silly putty or sticky tack?
Vacuum or toothbrush?
Thank you so very much again.😍🌹😊🙏👋
You’re like my cleaning fairy godmother
Melissa is like UA-cam‘s momma - everything you need to know about cleaning, she got you 😉❤️
Currently enjoying apartment living, so coils and drip pans it is here.
Thank you!
I put mine in the dishwasher
I have a gas cook top. And what bugs me is that the burners move and go out when I'm cleaning.
Hi, I used the vinegar and it worked really well. How do you quickly get rid of the vinegar smell?
for the glass top i use a regular hair shampoo and a bamboo cloth(i just like this one, microfiber can do as well). put a small amount on top, distribut everywere , let sit for 3 min then rinse.
Best Wishes and Kindness from Queensland Australia 🇦🇺❤️❤️❤️❤️
