Drake was dumber since the first season but he kinda had a bit decent common sense in him in s1 but not like completely dumb as seen in season 2,3 and 4 . This is similar to Kel's situation in Kenan and Kel as Kel was kinda okay in the first few episodes but then as the series progresses he starts to become extremely dimwitted
@Katie Logue Yeah, you find that pattern a lot in shows and movies. Its flanderization of the characters which happens to most of them. For example Patrick who was the wise fool in early seasons became absolutely brain dead throughout the show. SpongeBobs endearing and childlike qualities were turned up to 100, making him unbearably annoying. Joey from the show Friends also suffered from this. He actually had common sense in the beginning but just became dumber and dumber as the seasons passed. Writers do it with all different types of characters and their main traits and basically beat it with a dead horse over time. It’s quite a lazy way to progress a character and ruins actual personal development for said character.

I never really watched this show growing up, but I’m realizing now that Drake and Josh’s comedic chemistry seems almost directly inspired by that of the Laurel and Hardy duo from the 1930s, Drake acting as Ollie with Josh channeling the subtleties of Stan’s character (nearly identical facial expressions and exaggerated crying). The examples I noticed: 1:29 2:10 2:48 3:43 (100% could pass as a L&H interaction) 4:25

We gotta agree, Drake and Josh didn’t get along through the first season. But it’s nice they started to improve their step-sibling relationship later on. They both are idiotic but lovable characters. I love this show.
