- From August 1988, Mike Sakellarides on KOST-FM Los Angeles.
Recorded by (then) programming staff at KFI/KOST in Los Angeles and sent to me. Big thanks to them!!!
Loved the Coast back then. The Wave 94.7 also.
My thanks to all of you who remember the good times on California's Coast 103.5 !
mike, I freaking miss you on air. a whole lot of you guys made this one feel right at home, especially around this time of year.
@@blind_t2 Thank you, Tyrone. How lucky I am to have a friend like you. May you and yours be blessed this holiday with good health and joy.
@@mikesakellarides3463 I’m thankful for the ones we still have here from way back. I still talk to Karen every now and again. will tell her I said hi. if I’d owned 103.5, honestly, I’d put it as a hybrid, a perfect balance of now, and what made our station the best there was in the first place, and you’d be one of the people I’d bring back in a heartbeat.
Out of the blue, i was wondering what happened to that guy Mike Sakellarides from KOST 103.5. So you can imagine how happy i am to be able to hear his voice again. Thank you so much for the great memores KOST 103.5.
@@kamanhalim fellow so cal native I see? yes, him, Brian, Mark and Kim, Karen, all of these made my childhood. Brian still goes strong, although he’s in New Mexico programming a station over there now, still believing in one more So Cal run either before he hangs it up, or before he leaves this world.
This is a re-upload. The first upload (now deleted) of this same aircheck was "muted" by UA-cam because the last track in this aircheck played longer than 30 seconds. My apologies!
Back in the day when Kost 103 was mellow and had Mark and Kim in the morning show. I remember Rick Dees on Kiss 102.7 did a satire on this station. " It's 89 dee - grees on the Kiss... " "Now turn over!"
I don't get it.
@Tony Notaro yeah, not any more. Coupled that Dees filled in for Ellen K one time. KOST is where the old KIIS listeners went after they threw the old boomers under the bus.
@@donmccullen1973 KOST was the official suntanning station of Los Angeles County. They told you when to flip over and apply more sunscreen.
@@LogoMan7777 Yes, I started that feature each summer because my 10 to 2 (later 3 PM) show had the most intense UV ray hours and the most likely chance for burning by a pool or on the sand. One day Karen Sharp was at an Orange County beach, and she saw half the sun-bathers roll over with my announcement on their portable radios!
@@mikesakellarides3463 Well, you probably saved a whole host of Southern Californians from skin cancer.
Let me know if there is an aircheck for KOST 103.5 Christmas from 2001, the first year they switched to Christmas.
When did they switch from Kost 103 to Kost 103.5? Early 90s?
Digital Radio stressing.
1992
@@rahmanguitarguy7467 i figured it’s around 91-92 because when I heard airchecks from 1992 the jingles sang “KOST 103 Point 5!!”
Nice.
"Promises Promises" by Naked Eyes? Didn't think the KOST playlist got that rambunctious.
They played "This will Be" by Natalie Kole after that, and "Lowdown" by Boz Skaggs near the end.
@@fordman2698 And?
@@ApartmentKing66 I was supporting your comment that KOST was getting a little rambunctious with their playlist.
@@fordman2698 Not that there's anything wrong with that. By 1994, KBIG was giving them a hard time for how soft KOST was getting.
Was num. One
