The notion of "samba" is for most people too intimately connected to Brazil to be able to call a dance "samba" which is so disconnected from Brazil and Brazilian samba styles. It almost amounts to hijacking a "Brazilian cultural trademark".

They dance very well, but this dance should called differently and not "Samba" or "International Ballroom Samba". This dance historically developed outside of Brazil and has only some few influences from samba gafieira. Moreover the music it is danced to is definitely not samba and not even vaguely in a samba rhythm. And the very essence of samba is its particular rhythm. In Brazil nobody would think of dancing for example swing dance to a samba rhythm. It just does not make sense.

Why do these people think this is samba? This is not samba. And do not tell me that samba varies from place to place because it does not exist: Salsa is from Colombia, tango is from Argentina, and samba is from Brazil. And of all the videos I've seen of samba, none really danced samba. They do not know. Do not dance. Do not represent!
