agreed, except it is obvious none of them have REALLY been camping. That ice in the ice chest is going to last 1 to 1 1/2 days MAX. (Depending what time of year and where you camp). Rolling t heir eyes at canned chicken, when it is as versatile on a camping trip. Maybe they have been cabin camping or RV camping.
As a veteran camper, a couple options to throw out there: 1: put (cooked) rice on the bottom to absorb the liquid and flavor the rice 2: make sure to put the foil packs in ziplock bags so they don't get broken in the cooler and leak raw chicken juices on everything 3: instead of actual foil use those disposable foil trays. They're sturdier and can stand up to fire better, plus can act like a plate after cooking Happy camping everybody!
I recently became a new dad in April, I can't wait til my daughter is old enough to enjoy solid foods. Lots of exploration to be done for my entire family
Canned Chicken. Many years ago, my wife and I were sailing a boat from Mackinac Island to Detroit. On day two of the voyage, the captain/owner of the boat pulls out a whole canned chicken wrapped it in foil with some vegetables and seasoning. Cooked it up and served it with a loaf a bread. Best (and only) damn canned chicken I have ever had. Bon appetite!
I made something last week in a foil packet. Mine was whiskey and coke ribs with some rice to soak up the yummy juices and sauce. It was soooo delicious!
"I'm Canandian still. Mostly!" Me too! Only been in the States since 1964 and still a Canadian citizen. Love the recipe. Will make tomorrow. Thanks for the continued entertainment and education, eh!
Love the idea of quick and simple grilled foods to enjoy around large company! Back this video up Sam the cooking guy with three more things that people can do fast on the grill for fun delicious ease! I would love a knife
I'm glad you mentioned canned chicken from Costco. I have five cans sitting in the cupboard for some time (not expired) as I was not impressed with it the first try (I just mixed it with Hellman's). Sam, if you could, *please* do a video/recipe whereby I can use it, as I don't want to waste it/throw it away. I think canned tuna is better, except for its mercury contamination. Thank you so much!!
Thanks for recreating recipes and dumbing it down for ppl like myself! You take recipes that look intimidating, and make them easy for dads like myself to make dinner for the family. Appreciate you!!!!
have shared this with my partner.. she likes to go camping with our kid sometimes and has limited facilities there... but does have a grill.. so this would be perfect! thanks!... keep up the great videos!
This looks so good. Just got the 12" cast iron, knife bundle with the paring, bread, and chef knives, and of course the cookbook for Father's Day. Absolutely LOVE them!
Great idea. Love the way this was put together. The convenience of doing all of this ahead of time is perfect! Love the idea of making it into tacos! 😎😎😎
I love watching the videos, too much of UA-cam chefs has been using the best of the best that isn't realistically obtainable for the people watching but that's why I love watching you. Even common everyday items can be delicious with a little bit of creativity!
We learned to make foil packets when we went camping at younger ages. We like them so much we still make them for dinner occasionally. So easy. Almost no clean up too.
Made this! Among others of your recipes and absolutely phenomenal! Also Japanese mayo is game changer in anything requiring mayo! You guys are awesome!
This inspired tomorrow’s lunch. Grilling up chicken for salads. Using the soy sauce, garlic, and pepper marinade which tastes great on chicken too. So I’m using the leftover chicken to make chicken bacon ranch tacos. Can’t wait to eat them, YUMMY!!!!
I love the theme of pre-made camping food that will be easy, special and taste great! It's camping season in the northern part of the country and this would be welcome!
We used to make foil packs when I was in the Scouts, threw them right on the coals of the fire, so amazingly good, wish we thought about the ranch packet back then.
This one is awesome for my summer! We have a pontoon boat on a lake in New York and get tired of just throwing burgers or steaks on the grill when we are out enjoying the water for dinner! We can prep before we get underway and throw them on the grill for a great better than burger type dinner! Sam, you and the boys are rock stars!! Now about those knives…
Made this last night with potatoes. Boiled the potatoes for 12 minutes before adding to the mix, then cooked the wraps in the oven. Mine took about 40 minutes at 350F to cook the chicken and they turned out amazingly good.
I'm going camping the first two weeks of July and will definitely try this recipe. Earlier today, I cooked the Chicken Marsala and the entire family loved it! Thanks!
I prepped this about 20 min ago and will be putting it in the oven soon. Simple prep and if looks and smells mean anything at this stage, these are going to be outstanding!! I had some leftover rice from this week so I just broke it up and added it to them mix. It's a nice way to use up some veg that needs to be used soon...ish. It happens...
We've made all kinds of these to cook on the grill. If you've ever tried this with fish and your favorite ingredients, you'll never go back to frying. This one looks delicious.
This was the first video of yours that I've seen and now I'm hooked. I'm going to have to try this for camping next time. Also the knives look awesome.
My family does something similar to this but we put veggies, potato, corn on the cob,and polish sausage in the foil with old bay or any type of Cajun seasoning it’s great
Campfire food series would be amazing!
Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Love it! 🔥
This
Gotta do it on an open fire too 💯
As a veteran camper, a couple options to throw out there:
1: put (cooked) rice on the bottom to absorb the liquid and flavor the rice
2: make sure to put the foil packs in ziplock bags so they don't get broken in the cooler and leak raw chicken juices on everything
3: instead of actual foil use those disposable foil trays. They're sturdier and can stand up to fire better, plus can act like a plate after cooking
Happy camping everybody!
Nice tips
I would definitely add cubed potatoes! Makes it a full meal.
I'm a recently retired cop and loyal subscriber. Cooking has become my retirement OBSESSION. Thanks for being my Guru!
Woo Pig!
I recently became a new dad in April, I can't wait til my daughter is old enough to enjoy solid foods. Lots of exploration to be done for my entire family
I have good memories fishing and camping with my dad - he’d cook things in aluminum foil on the truck engine too haha
awh yes the struggle haha.. enjoy it, really goes fast. My 6 and now 10 year old slam on grill daily if we can.
Your new kid will love this :

LOVE doing foil packs. So quick and easy! It's how I always cook/steam my broccoli at home. Perfect every time.

I have used it to make enchilada or fajita soup.
It’s okish for enchiladas. Not the best, but edible.
@Squarebulb sorry if it was unclear. It was enchilada soup, and fajita soup
AWESOME idea! Looks tasty and super easy for any camping trip! Keep em coming.....
I agree a camping food series would be great. Some thin chunked new potatoes in that foil bag would have been great.
Thanks for recreating recipes and dumbing it down for ppl like myself! You take recipes that look intimidating, and make them easy for dads like myself to make dinner for the family. Appreciate you!!!!
