I don't know but people trust strangers everywhere. What the philosophy behind it I don't know but most of us help strangers even though some people can die for strangers.
I'm having a great on-going existential crisis right now. I remember watching Paul Bloom's lecture on Introduction to Psychology (it was on youtube) and he opened up my mind to a path which led me to this... ✨ big quest ✨ ... an exciting quest about existence.
From a unique state of interpretation of self, and others this man's love shines... It would be amazing to have a brief conversation with him... He deserves to be empowered further with deeper insights into this existence, his own and others...
Culture, upbringing, social facades (eg. our lawns have to be green grass, can't have weeds, or the importance of a diamond ring and so on) and idols (merely things we like and we allow to influence our thinking patterns) determine how our morale thinking and actions tend to work. I am more likely to be someone who donates time & resources if my upbringing taught me to care for others. Society as we know it, with law, some order and a sense of "equality" (think Christian doctrine that a king has no more right into heaven than a peasant) was a highly unlikely outcome. It makes more sense for Kings and the powerful to have stayed on top. I'm grateful Christianity saved us from that, even though I'm not religious. I'm grateful that some people have some capacity to help others though I wish I saw more of it. I help others a lot. I could use more help from others though.
Do you think this is why humans can be kind to strangers?

That was a great teaching, I hope people will learn what he said. That the world isn't your enemy.
This is very much the topic of Richard Dawkins' book The Selfish Gene
This is an especially interesting take from Mr Bloom considering his stance on empathy. Another great video.

Unfortunately,
politicians are here to ruin your theory...
Humans are. Look at humans from the perspective of any animal.
