Sounds great! And what lovely scenic route you have. This just made me want to take mine out for the day too.

Fabulous Fredrik! So love that sound and the great twisting road looks like some here in Oz, but without our potholes... And how lucky were you that all that traffic was going the other way?!

We are very lucky with the roads here, but drivers are crap 😂 I need to get a proper camera I think, these videos are made with my cell phone. How is your bike running?

@@fredriksalmen5159 Hmm, funny you should ask...I seem to have lost spark and she won't start! It had been running beautifully ,starting easily and running strongly, then one morning nothing. Although it cranks over strongly there is no hint of firing. I can smell fuel at the exhaust though. I'm no mechanic but my car mechanic also rides and is going to take a look at it soon. Problem is we'll have to arrange a trailer to get it to his workshop. In the meantime I have an ultra reliable Yamaha TDM900 to keep me mobile...

I had to replace my ec unit at 40,000 miles. Now got 85,000 miles on my thunderbird 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻. It’s a superb bike to ride and it’s simple to work on ,unlike my rocket 3,

Sweet sounding bike. I watched your earlier video of the mods you've done to it. I'd say they've paid off well.👍 I'm considering the purchase of a '98 TBS. Found one locally but with 102k miles, I'm a bit apprehensive. What to look for?

Thanks! TBS is the best performing of the lot due to adjustable suspension and dual front discs, although you shoukd definately rebuild those after so long. Some more HP due to different exhaust system, but not much. 102k miles is a lot, but they are bullet proof and lots can be rebuilt if there is an issue. If it starts easily (with choke when cold) and runs well, and price is good I don't see an issue.

Thinking about getting one of these. Better than Bonneville?

I haven't ridden the old Hinckley Bonnie, just the 1200cc which is very nice. But ithe aircooled Bonnie certainly is a smaller bike with less power. Thunderbird is easier to gain more power also by intake exhaust mods. The Thunderbird Sport model has dual front brake and adjustable suspension which is a big plus. If I'd buy today, I'd look for a white/tangerine Sport model. Altough, the aircooled twin does sound better, and I like aircooled engines for their simplicity, so hard pick!

Definitely better than the modern ones, and you have so much power, about 98hp and tons of torque at the bottom end, I have a trophy 900 from 1992, t(all stripped down) the only down side is the clutch is not as reactive as modern bikes. And if you are getting one, make sure the sprag clutch has been checked and the alternator bolts are not rattling, these are the only common faults you may also want to stiffen the front springs by 12mm so you don't have a pogo stick front end.

The 850/900 Bonneville were nice looking but just not interesting or particularly fun to ride. The Thunderbird Sport is much more interesting and has more performance potential. Not sure about the 1200 Bonnies. They look like they might kick some arse.
