So glad you got one of these! I also own a stunt and now a hero handset. But I havent braved opening mine up yet so I'd be interested to see the steps to get mine working like yours! Great video and fantastic work on finding a holy grail like this
Awesome! It's not hard to take apart at all. Just get a set of correct hex/Allen keys. On mine, there were two sizes used. Two small ones on the sides to hold the top on. And three larger ones to hold the metal plate on the bottom, and the port cover on the back. I would try to open it up though and take a look. If there is an old corroding battery in there that could be bad!
@@cyrix9445 Yeah thats what Im expecting to be honest. Its in good condition so hopefully its ok. Mine has the same metal clip as yours. My stunt had a battery pack (intact) but not corroded. But I will take a look at the hero. Yours appears in incredible condition too. Any marks/details allow you to identify it on screen? Im fairly certain I can identify mine on the rack about 2 walkie talkies down from Ellies hand.
Thanks for the update Brandon. It's actually pretty astonishing the amount of modifications that they did just on walkie talkies for this movie. Seems that going with an unmodified version would have worked just fine because they're so iconic already.

The fine detail prop is so much better than the stunt prop version, I've designed in 3D the walkie from back to the future and die hard, both with voice samples from the film, videos are on my channel, going to have a go at doing this one, looks quite straight forward, compared to the die hard walkie, I also modelled the stranger things radios as well, thanks for sharing.
Thanks! For sure! First, I'm going to make a trip to the hardware store and see if I can find any off-the-shelf colors that match. I might get it color matched at a paint shop if I don't have luck with that.
Man that’s really cool, have you looked into 3D printing replicas. You could scan them and probably get someone to resin print them or just the battery since that’s the only real modification besides the paint job.
This has been on my radar for over a year, I'll make up some replicas with working electrics and voice samples from the movie, I've already done different sets from other films quite successfully.
I also love Jurassic Park it's one of my favorite classics. I was fascinated by the vintage computers of the time that I actually emulated everything on my PC😆 Just curious we can use this props to make a remake of movie for UA-cam or film festival. I am part of the team who makes short films for big festival's in country and around continent. How can we contact you, if you like to do some creative stuff together it would be awesome😃
Were you ever able to replicate the radio to make duplicates? It would certainly be something fans like myself would pay for. Finding these damn radios is next to impossible.
Wondering if you’ve seen the jp.401graphics yellow raincoats, and was wondering if you think they are screen accurate or not, or even any good at all to buy.
Still kind of a mystery! I've found some Motorola branded ones that are very similar, but the pair that I have have no branding/ model numbers on them. Check out my other Saber video, I go into a bit more depth about the headsets.
I never understood props like this. I mean, how could it possibly be cheaper and easier to make your own fake radios rather than just buy a real set and use them? What am I missing, because it seems like for sure the easier, cheaper, and faster option for movie creators is to just use real items.
Fussy artistic director most likely, I've made a lot of props over the years, the Motorola Saber is a heavy radio, lots of action scenes, I guess they made the decision on that, it really wasn't done on cost as some suggested, the stunt prop radio is really very poorly made, the fine detail prop is much better. By the time you have bought Motorola sets, gutted them, fitted lights and other bits that aren't standard you may as well make your own. Kenwood supplied the radios for the first 3 die hard movies for free however they insisted on branding on both front and rear, to my knowledge no prop radios were used in that movie as the originals are and have been for sale, I've also made a prop version of that radio and the back to the future radios, videos on here.
Cost maybe? They were new-ish radios back in 1992, so they were very expensive. Maybe other factors, like weight (the fake one is very light weight) ? Simple 9v batteries?

@@JurassicCollectables I haven't tired to screen-match mine yet! but I have a 4k HDR bluray that I'm going to take a look at soon.

A true enthusiast! Lol never would have even thought about looking for this kind of prop.

If you end up making a mold for the radios, PLEASE sell some of the results to the rest of us! I'd love to fill up my gang charger as well!
I just learned that you had that car that you had on Tik Tok and I really like it and I just love your content
Awesome! Glad you found the channel. My UA-cam is definitely more information geared rather than entertainment, but I'm glad you like it!
Great update!

I have 2 working one at home ;)
The gang charger from the movie isn’t custom the model number for the gang charger used in the movie is NTN476A

Very nice prop to own 👍🏼
holy crap!
Who did you get the unmarked headsets from?
may i ask you what the size is of the battery so I may know how much chop
Hey bud. How can I get in touch with you for a video collab that would benefit both of our channels? This isn’t my main account btw.
Shoot me an email at cyrix9445@gmail.com
never seen a white one ?????? i have a model 3 with modat and p25.. DES XL encryption vhf flavor 😅
Why didn’t they just use real ones? Cheaper to spend all that time building replicas?
So what are the headsets though?

I am all for screen accuracy but there is such a thing as going overboard with it
