Time machine looks like an incredible game. Also, that tilting mechanism is really cool!
Cool episode Louie 👍 look forward to more episodes in this series .
Thanks so much for participating Brendan. Always great to have other people’s perspective on games. Episode 2 is already in planning.
@@RetroGamerNation awesome, count me in 🕹️👍
You 2 guys are my favorite c64 people on UA-cam or perhaps in the world. Thanks for all you guys do! Both channels are awesome.
Really nice of you to say so Tom. I love that 64K and RGN are complimentary channels and I am really pleased to have form a friendship and alliance with Brendan.
@@Woodwerker My thoughts exactly Tom too - Brendan and Louie fit right in my wheelhouse on content, style, and execution. They are the best by miles.
What a great idea for a series! Please continue!! ❤
Thank you for the feedback. I will be continuing the series as I had a lot of fun playing the games that I missed out in the 90s.
Cool! I was still using my C64 well into the 90's. I wouldn't guess that 30 years later, the ole' beast would be enjoying a second golden age. 😅
Loved this episode Louie, thanks. Got my C64 for Christmas in 1990 (Light fantastic pack for those to remember) and so this was right in my C64 sweet spot. Looking forward to what other gems you dig up.
Hey thanks Glen, I find it fascinating to learn just how many people got started with the C64 in the 90s. I was thinking that this series would be of interest to those who left the C64 by then but instead it looks like there is quite a good portion of viewers for who this will be pure nostalgia. The game titles for episode 2 are going to be a lot of fun.
@@RetroGamerNation Looking forward to it. The C64 was definitely on the way out by then. I was saving hard that year for a 1541 which cost more than the C64. By the end of the year, I realised I could sell the C64 and. use the 1541 money to buy an Amiga 500, which was what I ended up doing. But my friends still had C64s too so it was still a big part of our teenage years.
This is a great idea as there were so many C64 games released in the early 90s that most are probably unaware of because by then most had moved on to newer hardware. There were still a lot of games being released every month up until late 1992 if I'm right.
This is exactly my thinking. It ‘kind of’ fits in with the RGN philosophy of showing new games while at the same time i het to play games I mostly never played
Awesome video! Great idea for a new series and I reallly liked the format 😃
What's better than RGN...? RGN with a sprinkle of BastichB 👍🏻
Got my C64C in 1988 and gamed on it well into the 90s even after a got my TurboGrafx CD in 1991.
Neat idea to revisit this era via the magazines that were popular at the time and on which we relied to sort the weed from the chaff to bungle a saying. Of course the mags also suspiciously bungled their reviews from time to time. Really enjoyed this one and hope it'll be a successful series!
Loved Iron Lord back in the day.. the music was in my ear for a long time
Wow, I never heard of Time Machine. What an interesting looking game.
14:27 I had Italy 1990 by US Gold. Still play it now!
Tilt - which I also just discovered last year - is absolutely fantastic!
Tilt is a super strong budget title. I enjoy going back to it for a quick play often.
Enjoying this format. Thanks!
Loved this new
" section" of your regular releases..
brings back memories watching this.
Glad to hear this. These 90s episodes would hit more of a nostalgic nerve for some while being new to others.
I was more active as a C64 user in the '90s than in the '80s, so to me this is very nostalgic. I think you're overly harsh on Monty Python. Granted, it's not worth the CF score, but it's a functional shoot-em-up with bizarre settings. Atomix would have been a nice Sokoban variant had it not been for the tight time limit. Tilt suffers from a lack of depth. Fully agree on Satan.
Thank you for taking the time to provide your views on some of the games. I did wonder when playing Monty Python whether perhaps British gamers would have appreciated it more as I feel that I am missing some sort of context that might have allowed me to make sense of it all. Did you know that Your Commodore gave it a 10/10 rating? Reviewer must have been a big Monty Python fan.
Nice episode concept. i hope you keep making them in good time. Time machine i never played but did see in magazines of the day. I always like seeing green or a "wilderness, jungle" atmosphere on the C64. I think the c64 can handle this very well. Iron lord was an original i borrowed off a friend from school. I found it good but very hard. Particularly the combat with the knights. I think the game was very advanced in complexity for the C64 but it worked well. Rest of the games i never played as i got my Amiga in Christmas 1990 via the starter pack. The one with the young woman in a woollen jumper hugging the amiga with what looks her younger brother playing a flight sim. I still have a pack in pristine condition that took me 3 years to find.
Hey, thanks for sharing your memories. I loved reading your recollection from the past. The 90s retrospective series will definitely be part of the channel programming schedule as I enjoyed playing the games very much. I think these will probably come out every second month for the current time.
I really enjoyed the video and think its a fab idea for a series. Its got me playing the one's I missed as well. I really like the way the video is tied in with the magazine as well. Thanks!
Thanks for the feedback Graeme. Lot’s of 90s gaming to catch up on
That's a nice idea. I had forgotten about Tilt and must get around to playing it! Looking forward to more.
This is excellent Louie and as a series definitely has legs
Thanks Max, yes I agree. It should be a lot of fun to cover. Lots of games I have never played.
Fun episode! Looking forward to seeing more reviews of old games I may not know about.
I had fun doing this one, so episode 2 will definitely be on the way in either May or June.
LOL StormLord 2 features nude fairies aswell
Woho! Watching now :D will enjoy this
Great video as always. just wanted to say, i noticed your channel theme sounds a bit like E1M1 from DOOM.
Hey yeah, i do kind of hear that. Wonder if this is where Richard got his inspiration for the song.
played iron lord a lot on the miggy. looks decent on c64 as well! (good game, but very repetitive, yes)
Qow, love rhis!!!
I thought tilt was too hard to be fun, really frustrating.
'Paperboy' no. 1 for me.I haven't played these games either, but I'd like to play them... ;-)
