The Beekeeper: A Baffling Allegory Gone Wrong?

- Did "The Beekeeper" utterly fail its mission, or is there more beneath its thinly-veiled allegorical surface? Let's dive into Jason Statham's latest cinematic endeavor, a film that's as baffling as it is controversial. With a narrative that seemingly aims to skewer political figures through a convoluted tale of corruption, power, and vengeance, it's time we dissect whether this film accomplishes what it set out to do-or falls spectacularly short.
From the outset, "The Beekeeper" presents itself as a political hitpiece wrapped in an action film's guise. But does it manage to deliver a poignant message, or does it get lost in its own metaphorical hive? As we peel back the layers of this three-in-one cinematic oddity, we'll explore the effectiveness of its political commentary, the perplexing choices in its storytelling, and whether its action sequences manage to salvage the narrative-or epitomize the pitfalls of modern action filmmaking.
Despite its ambitious themes surrounding societal power dynamics and the corruption within, the film's execution leaves much to be desired. From a protagonist whose motivations are as unclear as the film's message, to action scenes that seem to forget the cardinal rule of engagement-visibility, "The Beekeeper" oscillates between being a critique of power and an action-packed spectacle without fully realizing either.
But perhaps the biggest question remains: Could "The Beekeeper" have been the cult classic it so desperately wants to be, had it not taken itself too seriously? Join me as we dissect the intricacies of what makes the art we love so great, and where "The Beekeeper" might have missed the mark.

Which Jason Statham film is the best??? Why?
Gnomeo and Juliet 4 sure
His appearances in the fast and furious movies
I like when he said, it’s beekeeping time, and he kept the bees all over them
He keeps the bees, but do the bees keep us???
The suicide plot made no sense at all. Like girl, call your FBI AGENT daughter!! My mom calls me anytime her laptop needs an update and I don’t work for the FBI
So your saying it wouldnt seem like a suicide?? Just like Epstien
@@darbyogill5771It didn’t make sense for her to kill herself and never contact her daughter. Maybe if they had a more strained relationship or something, but the movie never showed that. Definitely sus
I like the part at the end where he says “that’s just the way it has to bee” and turns into a swarm of bees and flies away
Mani thought that was a bit much. Should have said something more subtle like "better beehave yourself from now on"
"I'm a Beekeeper" - Jason Statham voice 😂
I actually enjoyed this movie because I went into the theater expecting it to be a low/mid-budget semi-generic action film, because the lead actor exclusively is hired for those flicks. Also, the premise isn’t exactly an original one. I see how you came to this logical conclusion as a sting at Hunter Biden, but it didn’t appear to me that it was anything outside of an anti-corruption action movie. I got what I expected, so was content, but this was an excellent video explaining why you might disagree, and that’s ok
New desk lamp just dropped
Same desklamp. New me

Tried seeing what would happen if i unchecked the notify subscribers button to see how that would effecr inital performance. Turns out, poorly. But ya live and ya learn
Bees
I like story about the corrupt people in general need better writer
I feel ya
hunted bidet (BEE-day)
discount Zazie Beetz (um, where can I see more Zazie Beetz? recommend)
John wick 1 I think proved that well shot, well thought action is just as good as a good plot. If you think about it John Wick barley has a plot but it doesnt feel like it because each actipn sequence *feels* like plot progression because they treat the action as plot. All the movies have minimal and arguably poor plot at times but by constantly changing up the fighting the stakes, what wick has to use to survive each encounter youre so invested in the action sequences you dont care. Very interesting.
Exactly! The action scenes "tell a story" that progresses and is satisfying, so its ok if the actual narrative is bare bones. It's the same appeal in some ways or watching an old Disney short. The story is just set up to watch beautiful animation, and if you deliver on what people came for I think that makes a film good
@@TheWritersBlockOfficial fascinating, I watched your John Wick commentary after posting this and almost felt like we disagreed but felt the same things if you understand my meaning?
But im quite impressed that even with view in the game you can see the same opinion from a different angle.
I think youre excellent at breaking down narratives and film making techniques and that skill makes you even better. Definitley earned a sub from me. Wish I could nerd put over how good and bad films work with someone like you as someone whose spent some time in the industry as an actress professionally(nothing big yet just some extras work and the like, small fry) and a short film maker behind the camera. XD
Thank you! And that's rad
When I saw the trailer for this in theaters, I was genuinely interested... at first. A guy coming from an average background avenging someone who got scammed to literal death. And then when the trailer said "The beekeepers are an elite government mission" or whatever I immediately lost interest. Honestly its why I hate action movies. Please I just want a normal dude not the impossible white man trope.
Wow she show no sign of depression and killed herself. I bet every suicidal person acts depressed in real life.
You could just google face of depression
That's not my point. It wasn't that she was depressed at all. The character did this because of one scam. Have you seen the movie???
