Friday Night Funkin' is a Newgrounds rhythm game made in HaxeFlixel originally created for Ludum Dare 47. Programmed by ninjamuffin99 with a soundtrack produced by Kawai Sprite and artwork created by PhantomArcade and evilsk8r, the game can be played on Newgrounds or played/downloaded for free on Itch.io.
The plot of the game centers around Boyfriend trying to hook up with Girlfriend, but her ex-rockstar father Daddy Dearest doesn't approve of him. It's up to Boyfriend to rap battle his way through him and anyone else that stands in his way so that he can finally get freaky! Think you got what it takes?
Friday Night Funkin' is an ongoing project that will continue to receive updates, bug fixes and new content. A full version of the game is currently in development, having been successfully funded via a Kickstarter campaign. Check the changelog here for information on the latest updates. The game is also open source to allow users to mod or simply look through its assets.

At 7:05 The three rings on his arms and left leg represent the souls he has captured (Sonic.EXE Majin and Lord X) but you can see at 8:27 he now has 4 rings on him meaning that he now has boyfriends soul (you can also slightly hear boyfriends vocals in this part)
That's actually an interesting detail, it's been like a year and I never noticed that lol😂😂

As for 8:27, that chromatic is actually a mix of all 4. You can hear Sonic.Exe, Lord X, Majin, AND Boyfriend's chromatic all in that. It's WILD

That's actually because the creator of the mod didn't give him a walking animation and Rewrite stomping was him forcing himself to walk anyways

Context on who Rewrite is:
Rewrite is an entity who has captured the essence of Majin, Sonic.EXE, and Lord X. At 3:45, the transformation backfires, with Majin and Sonic.EXE combine,making a combination of the two vocals.
4:13; Lord X, first appears in a shadow making it almost impossible to see him properly. Eventually, he appears out of his shadow, seeing his full appearance. After the three, Rewrite appears and the BPM slows down. Then at 6:59, he talks about he can see not just the 4th wall, but *through the screen* and knows you are playing.
Sadly, this is all I know.

He basically actually God but in digital Sonic form. He can shapeshift and minipulate a persons mind as well as alter reality.
ok so this isnt exactly how it works, as rewrite or should i say just to be correct, sonic is the result of the exe story being rewritten oh so many times, and the way he knows of the real world is that he found a church with some kind of thing where you can talk to "god" which was powered by a computer, which he then took over yada yada yappin bout lore, anyway he didnt exactly fail he just fused the shapshift of majin and exe to disturb boyfriend and by extension the player, also yeah his name aint rewrite, springless confirmed its just sonic :D
The fusion part was prob actually just a glitch that was never ever intended to happen, they prob spawned at the same time which caused them to merge but still kind of sticking out since in games a model can also merge with another model, that's my theory

HERE IS MY THEORY FOR REWRITE: as you know if you die in this mod you turn into a red ring and rewrite takes your soul, and in trinity rewrite can be seen with three red rings on his rists and one on his left leg meaning he has captured three souls, who are the souls he has captured? Sonic.exe, magin, and lord x. He uses there souls as puppets in trinity and lures bf in, and at the end of the song he captures all of theew souls and even bf so what happens to the teo main people of the exe hame tom and i forgot the other ones name idk probably fell into rewrites hands (ill continue this later)

In a better explanation, when the game was rebooted multiple times, he gets closer to the player as the game is rebooted again, and again.

The three rings that you see on his limbs (in the talking Rewrite part) resemble the Trinity (aka Sonic.EXE, Majin, Lord X).
In his pixelated form after the talking Rewrite part has four rings on them, meaning he had gotten Boyfriend as well, which is why you hear the voice of BF slightly in the pixelated Rewrite part...

The “fifth ring” on his neck doesn’t exist its just the background. His neck wasn’t seen because of his shadow, BUT if the fifth ring did exist, it would probably be the original sonic
