- Smoking will be banned entirely for the generation now reaching their teens, under Rishi Sunak’s plans to phase out cigarettes.
The Prime Minister has proposed new laws to raise the legal age of smoking by a year, every year.
Under the plan, the age of sale would rise from 18 by one year every year.

The tax will be made up mostly from reduced hospital admissions, diseases and illnesses.
They won’t need to make up a tax shortfall. The general understanding is there will be huge savings in the NHS through reducing smoking related illnesses and subsequent hospital admissions/GP treatments.

If 1 in 4 cancer deaths is smoking related, why not tackle the 3 in 4 which aren't? If smokers die earlier, then the Government saves £10,000 per year for each one just in pension payments! Why not tackle the obesity problem - which is a far greater burden on the NHS!

The City of London banks receive 97% + of the currency, digital, talk about a rigged game, it’s the Second Empire and maintains the UK’s prominence in the World but it’s citizens, the vast majority of them, bear the burden. The political classes are a shower of shisters, motivated by self interest and not only that most if not all of them don’t have a clue how the Financial System operates. I've spent a lot of time in hospitals for the last few years and I notice that there are two clear categories of people who work there - smokers, often of Slavic origin, who are predominantly slim, and obese Brits. Neither type is a model of healthy living. I find it surprising that effective measures are not being taken to change this.

I see it eventually becoming an hour a day job for the couch potatoes that sit at home on welfare. They will go to the shop for the 20 and 25year olds who will become too young to buy cigarettes. They could legalise cannabis like many many other countries including former British owned Malta I just came back from there totally legal for residents of Malta and plenty of shops selling now but we only interacted with maybe 4 people smoking it openly so as usual it doesn’t become the zombie apocalypse some people seem convinced will happen. I already smell it regularly in England lol 😂 it just makes it legal, safe and taxed which brings in huge revenue for the country and frees up the police to do their jobs properly. Here's a radical idea...why don't we let people choose rather than tell them what they can and cannot do? The idea of banning everything is daft. Anyone that wants to smoke will find a way...Banning smoking will just push it underground, untaxed, a larger strain on police and a new revenue stream for criminal gangs.

Chemical companies paid people to blame lung cancer on smoking instead of air pollution. Lung cancer rates dropped because of less air pollution and removing asbestos.
