Thanks for playing my request! Love your reaction, Corey! He has one of the best voices and I love his story telling….he’s one of my favorite singer/songwriters, with so many great hits.
My husband and I met when I was 14, and he was 17. This is our song. We tease about the part that says, "I used her, and she used me, but neither one cared!!". We sing that part to each other, lol. Bob Segar is the man!!! We were in love, though. We've been married for almost 39 years. I was 17, and he was 20.
Brilliant writing. The line that sticks out for me is "Woke last night to the sound of thunder." This song came out in summer for me. Now it's wintertime.
Not even close,Corey. His songs were as poetic as those of Robert Frost. And that line "With Autumn Closing In" hits you like a brick through a plate glass window when you know exactly how that feels.
As a teenager back then the line "with Autumn closing in" just meant the end of summer and start of football season. Now at 64 it has a whole new meaning. Same with a lot of the lyrics to these older songs now. As a teenager I was more into the sound of the song and not so much the lyrics.
I heard it as “all them” closing in, which is wrong, for many years. But it fits to me too, all them things that adulthood brings, which is really what he’s talking about, the end of youth.
I met Bob Seger several times in his subdivision where he lives.. he would be out walking his dog and I was putting in new mailboxes in the subdivision where he lived. Him and I would sit on the back of my tailgate and I would tell him stories about my son traveling from Alaska to the bottom of South America on a motorcycle by himself and I told my son about Roll me away that Bob Seger wrote and I told Bob about my son. Great man and a nice man Bob Seger.
My dad worked 2 blocks from one of Bob's houses in Albion, Michigan. You would see Bob walking around town once in awhile. Shows you what kind of guy Bob is... Albion was called "Little Detroit" back in the 1970's because of how dangerous it is.
He was born in Detroit, but grew up in Ann Arbor. Native Michigander here, Bob is part of the soundtrack of my life. No greater talent and you can't convince me otherwise.
Yep. He's a home town boy. I too grew up on his music and my graduating class picked Turn the Page as our class song. Seger is summertime and road trip music.
Bob Seger was huge, guys. He had EIGHTEEN Top 40 Hits, putting him up there with other huge groups like Fleetwood Mac who had NINETEEN Top 40 Hits, and Electric Light Orchestra (ELO) who had TWENTY Top 40 Hits! This song never gets old, great reaction, and thanks to Siemone for sponsoring it!
Bob Seger is top shelf singer and his Silver Bullet Band is tremendous.. so many great songs..Turn the Page, Against the Wind, Main Street, Old Time Rock & Roll, Night Moves and the biggest ass kicking song of all called "Come to Poppa!" Love you bros channel.. love Corey's enthusiasm.. I've come to realize you guys are some people I could definitely get down with chilling and spinning some great tracks.. you guys "get it" and comprehend the impact of Bob Seger. There is so much to this dudes catalog of music. Please try and get on a roll with Bob Seger! Another powerhouse out of Detroit!
@@ricksurratt9034 absolutely correct! My twin bother wore out that album in 1976/1977. Gerry Raffery Baker Street was another one from that glorious time in history when FM radio stations played killer album tracks and thought nothing of spinning an 11 minute song! It's a shame that the trash kids have to listen to today will never touch the quality we were enjoying back in the 70s!
Man....doesn't the tune bring you back...no matter how old you are....We all have "FELT THE AUTUNM CLOSING IN". He's just a great all around artist and has always kept his home state of Michigan in the forefront. Hiring musicians and crew and support from Michigan
I don't know a bad Bob Seger song. Here's a few others, Her Strut, Main Street, Roll Me Away, Fire Down Below, Ramblin Gablin Man. Great reaction y'all.
Bob is one of the greatest to ever come out of the midwest, he makes you feel this area with his story telling and the way his uses his voice along with his excellent group of musicians on this tune and others. Great rabbit hole to go down, he is one of a kind and a certified Hall of Famer Legend.
Songs about knockin’ them boots, never gets old!!!! This is a universal song that just about everyone can relate to. Young lust. It is pure nostalgia. My favorite line, “ strange how the night moves with autumn closing in”. Hits different now that I’m older. Check out “Come to Papa” it does not disappoint
His Library is so deep. Great songwriter. Going through his Library, you'll recognize some of his songs. Many were in Sports, tv shows, movies, and commercials. Some others are Against the wind, Like a Rock, Hollywood Knights, Her strut, Fire down below, come to Pappa, We've got tonight, Roll me away, Old time Rock and Roll, etc. Almost 20 top 40 hits. Was inducted recently into the Rock and Roll hall of fame. A true music legend.
@jamespenny9482 good question. Kid Rock did the presentation and didn't hold back telling everyone how ridiculous it was that he wasn't inducted much earlier.
Get familiar with Bob Seger because he has some of the most memorable tunes in rock history like the songs; Old Time Rock ‘n Roll, Roll Me Away, Like a Rock, We’ve Got Tonight, and Tock and Roll Never Forgets.Bob has that Otis Redding type of soul!
Bob was a rocker from Detroit that came of age when Motown was blowing up so there was a lot of soul influence in his sound. I fell in love with music because of Bob. His album Live Bullet is amazing, y'all would probably love his cover of Nutbush City Limits.
Loved seeing the nostalgia in your faces as you were each remembering. You can't get better than Bob Seger. Everything he did/ does is great. Thanks for the memories!
No matter how old we get as time passes us by, there are some things we never forget. This is my absolute favorite of Seger's songs. Top tier for me. :-)
Bob is a great rabbit hole to fall in to. Turn The Page, Like A Rock, Old Time Rock and Roll, Hollywood Nights, Fire Down Below and an early favorite, Ramblin' Gamblin' Man.
He definitely was influenced by Motown, he has said. Do, Against the Wind or Turn the Page, next. You will love them. Corey, you mirrored my reaction when I first heard it. Enjoy the rabbit hole.
I agree with Seger singing that song,I think his Rendition of it's Better than ANY one else's, Although it's a Cover song Bob didn't Write it! An old Chuck Berry tune !
One of the best concerts I have gone to. He did 4 encores and at one point was running through the stands playing a sax and being chased by security to make sure he wasn't attacked!
Started humming a song from 1962... The year I was born. I just imagine what he describes from that long ago year and what it would have been like to be 18 or so the year I was born.
Seeger is my favorite artist ever. He really doesn't have a bad song IMHO. I've been lucky enough to see him in concert several times. I really hope you do more reactions!
Reminiscent of many years ago! Didn’t think I was a Bob Seeger/SBB fan until a guy I really liked asked me to go with him to their concert. That’s also when I realized I didn’t know the band but knew most of their music! Been a fan since!
I had a 73 Camaro painted Mercedes midnight metallic blue named Night Moves. 74 Corvette engine, all pin stripes hand painted. Yeah, I loved this song.

Summer time= our youth. Autumn closing in= getting older.
Nobody told a story in a song like Bob.
..."and points of her own, sittin' way up high.....way up firm and high." Yup. Classy but Graphic.
Thanks for playing my request! Love your reaction, Corey! He has one of the best voices and I love his story telling….he’s one of my favorite singer/songwriters, with so many great hits.
Great song request
Absolutely a great request! Thanks for all the memories this one evoked.
Much love back at you!!! We are all grateful for your support!!!
Very special song.
Y'all might like Hollywood Nights it's more upbeat, or Sun Spot Baby. There all stories. Can't go wrong with Bob Seger

Seger Not Segar!
“With Autumn Closing In”. One of the greatest story tellers in music
Feeling the autumn myself now😊

The King of Detroit Rock & Roll
Against the wind by Bob Seger is incredible.
Thank you for the great reaction gentlemen. Please give “Turn the Page” live version. It is probably the most beloved Seger song.
Oh I know every word to that song still
You won't hear a bad songs in Bob Seger's catalog. Legend.
Love all of Seger's music. Thanks for reacting to him.

Michigan music. Doesn't get better than this
You can't go wrong with any Bob Seger song. He is a fantastic musician and has one of the greatest rock voices.
There’s a huge rabbit hole to go down listening to Bob Seger.
Remarkable that he was only 28 years old when he wrote this ... seems like a reflective song someone in their 40's would write

And like a rock for Chevy
