REview: Hermana Muerte/Sister Death (2024) | A Traditional Horror Movie Flirts With Greatness

Paco Plaza as a director has always felt somewhat uneven to me in that he might do something remarkable, but the odds are he won't.
'Sister Death' slots in closer to remarkable than typical.
It's very much a traditional ghost story, but that's not a criticism more than it's destined to be a classic in terms of how its story works and manages to develop a lot of tension and suspense despite primarily taking place during the day.
And it's worth mentioning that 'Sister Death' also revolves around children, which tend to irritate me more often than not though I didn't even notice them as children in that sense.
For me, that's a ringing endorsement.
And it goes without saying, 'Sister Death' is subtitled, the way the movie gods intended. #dubsucks
