What I'm trying to say is that this game had A LOT of potential with all the fun characters and places both series have to offer. For another episode, my vote goes to Pikmin 3. It was a solid game, and retained a lot of the staple gameplay and puzzle solving, but the introduction of characters who talked outside of the logs, the final area, and the odd progression system (almost like finding suit upgrades in Metroid) left a taste in my mouth that was not bad, but more sour compared to the first two games. One big thing was the loss of the magic of the first game, and the more laid-back time limit but more difficult gameplay of the second.

The moment he said dimentio and fawful team up I thought of a way that could easily double, or triple the game. There could have been a cutscene or event like half way through the game, that shows fawful finding dimentio and they agree to team up and take over the world so on and so forth. Then there could be a couple events or battles with the 2 as the game goes on. And just like in super paper Mario, after you defeat the final boss, dimentio, who you thought was just some secondary character, could come in and start an entirely new story arc that could EASILY double the game. But these are just my thought so it’s doubtful this would ever happen lol
Here’s my Mario and Luigi game ranking 5. Paper Jam 4. Dream Team 3. Partners in Time 2. SuperStar Saga 1. Bowsers Inside Story How would you rank the games?
A1 Video gamer instead I'll predict the next m & L games not counting remakes M&L 6: M&L Wario and Waluigi mayhem 7: M&L Fawful's return again 8: M&L Paper Jam 2, now inside the paper dimension and 3d world 9: M&L Shroobs revenge 10: M&L And the (what ever kingdom daisy comes from)
7: Superstar Saga 6: Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions 5: Paper Jam 4: Dream Team 3: Partners in Time 2: Bowser's Inside Story 1: Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr's Journey
If we’re doing this, I’m pulling out the big guns. Please do Explorers of Sky. It was destroyed by blind critics, so that might put it in the running despite its fan popularity. I really want to hear you talk about my third favorite game of all time.
You raise a number of good points but I have to highlight that yes, this was a crossover with sticker star, hence the lack of Luigi, any interesting characters, a new narrative, simplification of mechanics (level up points and cards) as not only did Alphadream have to appeal to this 'new market', they also had to do it in a way that didn't mess with the 'new' series' lore too much (read no lore so no messing). Similarly, the old enemies are all you see in Sticker Star and, I kinda get what they're going for with mirroring, each enemy has a paper counterpart, which probably works better on paper than in game, it does make many encounters variations on a theme. This mirroring is also probably why they replaced the interesting toads with generic ones, not only because that seems to be the direction they're going, see the remakes, but also because they have no counterpart in the StickerStar-verse. Another thing drawing from the Paper Mario influence rather than the M&L is the last Bowser fight, which isn't good but is the way that series is trending (see Colour Splash). Lastly, whilst we know paper Luigi exists in the StickerStar universe, at least to me, it feels like it would be derivative of partners in time (playing as 4 characters, two Marios and two Luigis) and would lack the streamlined design of the babies, meaning you would have to wrestle with at minimum four battles. Overall, agree with most of the points you made but can see reasons as to why Alphadream chose to (or was made to) exclude them and therefore agree with your conclusion that whilst in places flawed, Mario & Luigi & Paper Mario is a thoroughly enjoyable game. (ALTHOUGH F*** SOME OF THOSE MINIGAMES)
Now that nintendo appear to listen to new/younger talent (see BoTW and SMO). I think the next M&L/Paper Mario game will be awesome, maybe being as good as BiS or TTYD. Or I could be wrong and we get more of the same. But I think that at least the next M&L game will be different from the norm and take more risks.
Gonzalo Castillo I heard that the people who worked on paper mario only heard after color splash after they made that game, so maybe the next paper mario will be a paper mario game with the original formula, personally I don't mind the new formula I loved color splash and liked playing trough sticker star
Is it wrong that my hopes for M&L 6 are that it has a mechanic that is a halfway point between the mechanics of Partners in Time and Bowser's Inside Story with Wario and Waluigi on the X & Y buttons and that its story focuses on opposites with a mirror/evil version of the Mushroom Kingdom? (Mario and Luigi would likely go through the dark Mushroom Kingdom, fighting evil versions of known allies and even the Dark Mario Bros and Dark Peach. Meanwhile, Wario and Waluigi would then go through the light Mushroom Kingdom, fighting both traditional and new enemies all gathered by an unexpected alliance of both worlds' versions of Bowser.) [What this alliance would have over Paper Jam's Bowser & Bowser alliance is that the Reverse Bowser is actually willing to be the support role to our Bowser in exchange for our Bowser's help in overtaking the Dark Mushroom Kingdom.] {Our Bowser would gain from this by having a Princess Peach who actually shares his moral compass, while Reverse Bowser would finally remove the main evil from his world and finally win the battle against the Dark Mushroom Kingdom. Even if doing that would likely leave the Light Mushroom Kingdom worse off.}
@The Green Dragon 53 I actually remember there being a demo for a fan game called Mario & Luigi: Wariance, where you actually do play parts of the game as Wario and Waluigi... and Popple serves as the pair's Starlow. I kid you not.
Gonzalo Castillo Well if it's on the switch (since 3DS is coming to the end of it's lifespan) then they will almost certainly take new risks because it'll be on a different game engine to DT PJ and SS+BM
The first episode is giving me a good first impression! I really like that you are improving your editing. Everything looks organized and clean and fun to watch! Keep up the good work.
Hey fawful I want to say thanks to you, before watching your channel, I always ignored the Mario and Luigi series but thanks to you and your channel I decided to give them a go and I am having a blast with them. So yeah thank you
I really liked this video, your thoughts on it were very interesting even if some of them differed from mine. Personally I didn't like the animation style but it's still nice. Something you should have covered would be it's replay value for future videos of this series. Great video as ever, and while you may have already planned this, but super paper Mario would be perfect for this series.
Matthew La Varnway Also, it doesn't really have to be a team-up, just have them be antagonists at the same time that eventually come together through the story
I'd go the exact opposite: they work together at first, and then split after a humorous moment when they simultaneously try to back-stab each other. You then get to choose which to take on first, with the other absorbing the first's power (Dark Star/Chaos Heart)
Paper Luigi was originally playable when the game was in beta-testing and his jump would've been mapped to the X Button, However they scrapped it. The reason is pretty stupid as well, They thought the game was too hard to control with 4 characters.
This is definitely the worst Mario & Luigi game in my opinion. It doesn’t even allow you to increase your stats more from level ups like the other games. Also, Paper Luigi appears in the Sound Test, though it is still wasted potential like the entire game.
For my Computer Games Design assignment at college, I made a presentation about this game. However, I also added some easter eggs. On the introductory slide, a bit of text says "Just one question: Where's Paper Luigi?" If you click on Luigi, Paper Luigi spin-jumps up from the bottom of the screen. On another slide, Mario, Luigi and Paper Mario are standing next to the A, B and Y buttons respectively. Clicking a button makes them jump. Bearing in mind this was college work and I still passed despite so many dumb easter eggs.
I personally think the first was the weakest. I love them all, the others had a fun little gimmick to add on to everything imo. This game could've been even better if they gave us more bosses and enemies from the paper Mario series, but I still had a blast playing it, to be honest lol.
So far this new series is turning out pretty good, but then again it's only the first episode, however this series is showing some good and funny times. Keep going FM, your awesome.
This may seem like an arbitrary comment, but here's my rankings on the entire M&L series. 5. Paper Jam. This game is good yes, but it lacks the zesty special recipe that the other M&L games have, like in M&L 3 you play as the koopa king for god's sake, and in M&L 4, you venture into cool mythology inside abstract worlds. The battle system and bosses are great, but the problem comes in at the amount of recycled material there is in this game. The Toads, the worlds, the enemies, hell the damn plot. The final area, OH BOY IT'S A HUGE PILE OF SHIT! 4. Partner's in Time. The M&L fanbase may not be huge fans of this game, but I think it's quiet underrated. I like the whole shroob invasion story and how the bros team up with their younger selves to stop the shroob's reign on the mushroom kingdom. Bros items are problematic yes, but oh boy they're sure fun to use. C'mon, fucking Pocket Chomps, Trampolines, Smash eggs, Bros & Ice flowers, Copy Flowers, Mix Flowers, you name it. 3. Superstar Saga DX. Ok, I do not have a GBA, so what I have the 3DS remake. What do I think of it. Great game I say, really good. The game that started the M&L series, it's hilarious as hell, action-packed battle system, and Fawful, OH BOY I LOVE FAWFUL! Minion Quest is just a meh for me plus I don't feel like reviewing it. 2. Dream Team. Humor is lacking, some filler yes, but what makes this game stand out is the dream worlds that mario explores, they just feel so inspired and creative, especially with Somnom Woods, that area is beautiful. Giant battles make a return and are better than ever. Bowser is now a major threat plus Antasma is a great villain, but their screentime is lacking. 1. Bowser's Inside Story. I love this game so goddamn much. Ironic from someone who is not a big fan of turnbased RPGs, but nonetheless, you get to play as Bowser!! Having the bros and bowser being playable makes the game feel fresh and interesting. Giant Battles are great, the game stays consistently amazing throughout it's runtime. Fawful is promoted from being a sidekick to villain tier. One last thing, that 3rd and final act is a fucking brilliant final area!
I liked this game, if only because of how easy it was to break. I haven't played it in a very long time, so I assume most was patched out, but it was a lot of fun clipping through nearly every "solid" barrier.
8:30 So true... I know that if a company creates great games and series (Sega: Sonic Capcom: Sf,MM Alphadream: M&L) The people are going to ongoing but the best, problem is everything has a limit and when something falls short (sonic boom, MM being forgotten, Paper Jam) then people are gonna do nothing but bash it same with movie series (I'm looking at you Star Wars OG) but "fans" want nothing but the LITERAL BEST EVERY SINGLE DAMN TIME but when something isn't right it gets bashed and people call it trash, I can't stress enough about it because it's EVERYWHERE!! Anyways if you read this whole thing thanks for sticking around and hearing me out...
Blessed. Fi is better than Navi any day of the week. The final Boss is a lot of fun. The controls work fine in my opinion. Girahim is an amazing character (wish he was a playable character in Smash Bros.) Skyward Sword Zelda is still the cutest version of Zelda in my opinion. This is the only Zelda game where you get to see a sort of romance between Link and Zelda. The bosses are pretty good (aside from Moldarach and Tentalus.). Most underrated Zelda game (other than Tri-Force Heroes and Minish Cap) in my opinion. I really hope this gets ported to the Switch. Still looking forward to the Link's Awakening remake.
I'm just happy to see iconic enemies make RPG debuts. I love me some Ninji. I'm just sad there weren't too many 3d world enemies. Hopefully we'll see Oddessy enemies in the next game
partners in time? it's insanely underrated but it's a good game with an amazing soundtrack, probably the best or second best in the series and the shroobs are probably the thougest and most insane challenge mario and luigi have ever faced
The thing about Paper Luigi is that he is on the game as a cameo in the Music Listening feature. He was also confirmed to be a playable character but Nintendo thought that having to press 4 buttons in battle would be too difficult. That's why he isn't in the game as a playable character.
I remember when Paper Jam came out it's Miiverse Community had a Developers Room with Interviews with The Alpha Dream Staff and they commented on the fact the reason why they stuck with just Miyamoto Characters and no Mario & Luigi/Paper Mario Original Characters was because as they already had The Paper Doppelgangers they thought adding more characters would over fill the game's writing from what I can recollect.
I’d really enjoy seeing you dig into post-trilogy+AJ Ace Attorney titles such as Dual Destinies and Spirit of Justice. This show seems very fit for such a topic.
Because sticker star. Sticker star poisoned the well of paper Mario fun and originality, and now it's poisoned the M&L series. This, in my opinion, is the biggest wasted opportunity in the history of Mario games.
If there's one good thing about this game, it's the final boss battle theme. It feels like Mario and Luigi are fighting 2 giant bowser shaped heartlesses rather than bowser himself. Which makes sense since Yoko Shimomura created the music.

The Super Shiny Mega Gengar Ditto. It was the best game of 2015. (In my opinion). It was the game that sparked livestreams, let’s plays, and theories. There’s no reason for this hate.
All I can request of you: Pokemon Ranger... Any one of the games just... PLEASE. WE'RE DESPERATE FOR ANY RANGER CONTENT.
Also this is far less likely to happen because nobody's ever heard of this but maybe try the Spectrobes Series???
Taylor Langlois weren’t there two spectrobes games on DS and one on the Wii?
Yeah.... I know, like I said it's not gonna happen
POKEMON RANGER SHADOWS OF ALMIA IS THE BEST.
Guardian Signs...Oh that game was good or bad in a few places, playing it makes me wish they would still make Pokemon Ranger games again. :(
...and Conquest...
*Please Logan nobody talks about it!*
Mario & Luigi & Sonic & Paper Mario *& Knuckles*
Edit: This joke isn't funny
Mario & Luigi + Knuckles: Knuckles' Knuckles 3 & Knuckles featuring Knuckles.

New funky mode!

Maybe make a video like this about ARMS? I've seen either very positive or very negative reviews and opinions about it.
EverythingIncorporated that would be a good video
That won’t really work because there’s nothing that comes before it. So you have no predecessor to compare to.

If we’re doing this, I’m pulling out the big guns. Please do Explorers of Sky. It was destroyed by blind critics, so that might put it in the running despite its fan popularity. I really want to hear you talk about my third favorite game of all time.
Explorers of Sky? Never heard of it
GameMaster WLC It's one of the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon games.
What about Gates to Infinity???
GameMaster WLC Its only the Pokemon game with the best (debatable) story.
This video is AWESOME! Keep it up! The Blessed or Messed series went off with a bang and BOY was it a good one!
Since you did Paper Jam, you should do Color Splash now
You raise a number of good points but I have to highlight that yes, this was a crossover with sticker star, hence the lack of Luigi, any interesting characters, a new narrative, simplification of mechanics (level up points and cards) as not only did Alphadream have to appeal to this 'new market', they also had to do it in a way that didn't mess with the 'new' series' lore too much (read no lore so no messing).
Is it wrong that my hopes for M&L 6 are that it has a mechanic that is a halfway point between the mechanics of Partners in Time and Bowser's Inside Story with Wario and Waluigi on the X & Y buttons and that its story focuses on opposites with a mirror/evil version of the Mushroom Kingdom?
(Mario and Luigi would likely go through the dark Mushroom Kingdom, fighting evil versions of known allies and even the Dark Mario Bros and Dark Peach. Meanwhile, Wario and Waluigi would then go through the light Mushroom Kingdom, fighting both traditional and new enemies all gathered by an unexpected alliance of both worlds' versions of Bowser.) [What this alliance would have over Paper Jam's Bowser & Bowser alliance is that the Reverse Bowser is actually willing to be the support role to our Bowser in exchange for our Bowser's help in overtaking the Dark Mushroom Kingdom.] {Our Bowser would gain from this by having a Princess Peach who actually shares his moral compass, while Reverse Bowser would finally remove the main evil from his world and finally win the battle against the Dark Mushroom Kingdom. Even if doing that would likely leave the Light Mushroom Kingdom worse off.}
@The Green Dragon 53
I actually remember there being a demo for a fan game called Mario & Luigi: Wariance, where you actually do play parts of the game as Wario and Waluigi... and Popple serves as the pair's Starlow. I kid you not.
Gonzalo Castillo Well if it's on the switch (since 3DS is coming to the end of it's lifespan) then they will almost certainly take new risks because it'll be on a different game engine to DT PJ and SS+BM
@GeekachuIChooseYou not to mention the side campaigns have actual character development.
The first episode is giving me a good first impression! I really like that you are improving your editing. Everything looks organized and clean and fun to watch! Keep up the good work.
Can you do Sonic Forces next?
Edgar castro messed. Totally messed
Edgar castro you mean trash?
Hey fawful I want to say thanks to you, before watching your channel, I always ignored the Mario and Luigi series but thanks to you and your channel I decided to give them a go and I am having a blast with them. So yeah thank you
I got a game for you to do:
Sonic Forces
(While there's more hate then love I still see tons of arguments about this game.
I love this new series! I really enjoy hearing your unique humor in a different type of content than just top 10s.
Fantastic video Logan! I think I'm going to thoroughly enjoy this series!
This was awesome. How about blessed or messed with Sonic forces?
Fawful and Dimentio team up.
I've never heard such an amazing idea for a Mario RPG. It's beautiful. It HAS to be a thing.
Too fanfictiony.
Matthew La Varnway It sounds fanfictiony AF, and that's probably because it's never gonna happen
DON’T...............
BLINK
Blink and you’re dead
Paper Luigi was originally playable when the game was in beta-testing and his jump would've been mapped to the X Button, However they scrapped it. The reason is pretty stupid as well, They thought the game was too hard to control with 4 characters.
This is definitely the worst Mario & Luigi game in my opinion. It doesn’t even allow you to increase your stats more from level ups like the other games. Also, Paper Luigi appears in the Sound Test, though it is still wasted potential like the entire game.
wait what the *goomba*
For my Computer Games Design assignment at college, I made a presentation about this game. However, I also added some easter eggs. On the introductory slide, a bit of text says "Just one question: Where's Paper Luigi?"
If you click on Luigi, Paper Luigi spin-jumps up from the bottom of the screen.
On another slide, Mario, Luigi and Paper Mario are standing next to the A, B and Y buttons respectively. Clicking a button makes them jump.
Bearing in mind this was college work and I still passed despite so many dumb easter eggs.
Paper Luigi was going to be playable. but he was cut. it does suck that he was yet again a silent cameo like he was in Sticker Star.
I personally think the first was the weakest. I love them all, the others had a fun little gimmick to add on to everything imo.
This game could've been even better if they gave us more bosses and enemies from the paper Mario series, but I still had a blast playing it, to be honest lol.
I feel like Nintendo hates paper Luigi. We need a paper Luigi game in the style of ttyd!!
So far this new series is turning out pretty good, but then again it's only the first episode, however this series is showing some good and funny times. Keep going FM, your awesome.
Mega Man 8
That would actually be good considering that MM8 is seen as trash and that MM11 is coming out soon
7 was a bit more divisive than 8, tho. 7 was controversial, and 8 was almost unanimously considered garbage.
XZeroStone What, 7 is my favorite! But every review of 8 I've seen says it's decent.
I love 7 too. It's just very controversial. And a LOT of people hated 8.
Paper Luigi was supposed to be in the game at one point, but it was too hard to control everyone in battles and in the field, so he was removed
Ori and the Blind Forest please, no one talks about that game.
But that game is universly loved. Isn't the point of blessed or messed to look at decisive game?
Darkrai Dimentio
True, I guess I just want him to make a video about it lol
Jack Landry
Same goes for Okami
Paper Luigi is ther when you open the music tracks
Cover Paper Mario Color Splash
That was pretty good for your first "Blessed Or Messed" episode. Thumbs up Mr.Minion! :)
Blessed or Messed: Sonic Unleashed?
He protecc
He attacc
But he also
Tells opinions and facc
Sonic Unleashed would be really interesting to see
And don't you say four bros is too much, you've done it in Partners in Time!
Can we please get a new Thousand Year Door style Paper Mario game.
Hell, make it Luigi’s adventure in the Waffle Kingdom!
*WAFFLES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!*
I mean, Paper Luigi is there...in the jukebox.
We haven’t seen you talk about Kirby since before Planet Robobot came out, anything you have say about? (Other than Mirror’s buff?)
I heard that the reason Paper Luigi isn’t playable is because they felt that it would make battles too complicated.
...Partners in Time, though.
But it's simple,
A = Mario
B = Luigi
Y = Paper Mario
X = Paper Luigi
SuperMarioCraft To be fair, they'd have to use a different button for dashing.
@@ShycoWar the babies were an extension of the Bros in 4 person battle, while the paper Bros are separate characters
This is pretty cool. I like that you actually approached it from a non-biased standpoint. Can't wait for Colosseum/XD. ^_^
I don't think Dimentio would team with fawful. Plus, they're dead
Like, their souls are dead (Fawful's at least)
I think he meant Paper Fawful and 3d Dimentio
The Green Dragon 53 that's stupid
What I've been saying since this game was announced, you've now said as well.
I liked this game, if only because of how easy it was to break. I haven't played it in a very long time, so I assume most was patched out, but it was a lot of fun clipping through nearly every "solid" barrier.
Sonic adventure 1 or pokémon gen 1
8:30 So true... I know that if a company creates great games and series (Sega: Sonic Capcom: Sf,MM Alphadream: M&L)
The people are going to ongoing but the best, problem is everything has a limit and when something falls short (sonic boom, MM being forgotten, Paper Jam) then people are gonna do nothing but bash it same with movie series (I'm looking at you Star Wars OG) but "fans" want nothing but the LITERAL BEST EVERY SINGLE DAMN TIME but when something isn't right it gets bashed and people call it trash, I can't stress enough about it because it's EVERYWHERE!! Anyways if you read this whole thing thanks for sticking around and hearing me out...
Skyward Sword?
Messed
From countdowns to Colosseum final judgement, I approve this change of pace.
What about undertale
you mean the game that is universally loved? yeah that would fit the series....
"The worst Mario & Luigi title is still a great game."
LOL exactly my thoughts
Fuck starlow, we want Paper Luigi.
M&LSS: I'm the most broken game in the saga
M&LPJ: Hold my beer
Nice one dude, I like this format of video! Keep it up!
i really like the neat little animations in this video, it adds a layer of polish
Bowser and Paper Bowser were even more evil than expected.
IVE BEEN WAITING FOR SOMETHING LIKE THIS FOREVER
The thing about Paper Luigi is that he is on the game as a cameo in the Music Listening feature. He was also confirmed to be a playable character but Nintendo thought that having to press 4 buttons in battle would be too difficult. That's why he isn't in the game as a playable character.
This is the Sonic Forces of Mario and Luigi.
I'm just glad you still enjoy it, I enjoy Paper Jam. And I hope you do too, being a Mario and Luigi Fanatic and all.
Wooooo I've been waiting for so long and now it's here 😁 thanks fawful
Blessed or Messed: Battle for Bikini Bottom. Make it happen, Fawful!
"It's been 4 games worth of years in development, hopefully it'll have been worth the wait." -Gabe N Yamauchi
I know that the video is cool, but HOLY SHIT THAT FAWFUL SPRITE ANIMATION!!! I LOVE IT SO MUCH! Please do this more often in later videos!!!
The battle system ITSELF is great, but most of the enemies have genuinely annoying and impossiblee to predict attacks.
NO WAY THIS IS HAPPENING, OMG I'M ACTUALLY SO HYPED!!!
Blessed or Messed: Star Fox Zero
