- Rooms For The Memory written by Melbourne music legend, Ollie Olsen (Max Q), was Michael Hutchence’s only solo single released during his lifetime and was an Australian Top 10 hit in 1987.
This new recording features Adalita on vocals and was recorded in tribute to Michael Hutchence, as well as to honour the songwriting talent of Ollie Olsen who has been diagnosed with Multiple System Atrophy, a degenerative and terminal neurological condition.
Also included on the EP is a new mix of Michael Hutchence’s version of Rooms For The Memory, by original producer Nick Launay, which is different to the single and version included on the Dogs In Space Soundtrack.
Recorded 22 Jan 2023 which would have been Michael’s 63rd birthday, the new version features Andrew Duffield (Models), and Mick Harvey (The Birthday Party/ Nick Cave’s Bad Seeds).
The EP also includes two versions WIN/LOSE - a new recording by Kav Temperley (Eskimo Joe), and Ollie Olsen’s original version from the Dogs In Space Soundtrack.
A new video clip featuring Adalita, filmed by Richard Lowenstein (Director of Mystify Michael Hutchence documentary), features unseen archival footage of Michael & Ollie together in New York and in the studio.
The EP also features two additional mixes of Adalita’s version of Rooms For The Memory.
All proceeds from this release will go toward Ollie Olsen’s medical costs.
I can't wait to get hold of the vinyl....bring on Max Q vinyl 2024
Brilliant! You can never go wrong when it involves Ollie and Michael in any way.
✌& ❤ Michael. God Bless, Ollie.
Damn straight. ❤
Michael was my idol growing up and I used to love Dogs in Space and those end credits. It’s brilliant to hear this song done like this. Much love to Ollie ❤
This cover is achingly beautiful and heartfelt. You can feel the love for Ollie and Michael in every note. I’ve listened to it countless times already and it never fails to move me to tears every time.
Best song Michael Hutchence sang in my opinion. Criminally under rated. Briliiant song.
Nunca había escuchado está versión, y este vídeo con tantas imágenes inéditas de la originales fantástico...gracias por compartir....🫶👍✌️♾️🎵🎶

🌈🫧🩰A beautiful thing🌟❤️🔥🪽

Simplemente HERMOSO ! ❤
Stunning performance and video , very moving ❤
Stunning...
Thank you for this xxx
So very special, the song, the artists, the production and the Hutch video - so hauntingly beautiful ❤
Nice work Mr Kraus
Thanks so much for this brillant Version.
This is truly superb - totally does justice to the original in a way that will no doubt introduce another generation to these essential songs and artists. Incredible how contemporary these songs still sound (same with Win/Lose and MaxQ). And the lead guitar sound at the start is so well dialled in - searing in a way that absolutely fits the melody and theme of the song. These songs have been so important to me throughout my life. Thanks Ollie (and all the gang who made this possible), and best wishes.
Thanks to everyone involved, such a brilliant song ❤
More from this Supergroup please.
Can't wait to get the vinyl either! Looking forward to playing it for my Mexico City crew, Love to you Ollie
Great version & film clip, love to everyone involved ❤👾❤
This beat is timeless and soooo rad! Love it! Thanx so much everyone involved! ❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
Love this, beautifully done and looking forward to chatting with Adalita!
❤ Adalita is a sweetheart, enjoy your chat with her!
This is fantastic. Thanks for uploading. Such a great song- and a great version! Cheers
Such a great bunch of musicians. Adalita's tone and delivery is perfect for this song. Also great to see Mick playing lead guitar too. Sing Sing is such a great studio- I've always loved working there, whether it be at 'South' on Chapel Street, or the old Gordon Street location. Both have or had good vibes. Cheers all!
So beautiful♥️🌟 I love having all the extra bits and the past coming up. ❤❤❤
Unbelievable.... Such a great recording.
Thank you.
Love it❤
So glad you did this Adalita. I was a massive INXS fan before going underground and finding Magic Dirt. Feels like going full circle with this one. Only took 30 years or so ha ha ha. BTW The Hutch could hold a room like noelse. Saw them in 1988.
Ethereal 🎯xox
Thanks so much for chucking this up, so fuggen beautiful
Fantastic - Adalita sounds a little like Patti Smith…a great recording by everyone…❤
She does! I didn't notice that before ❤
Beautiful
where can i buy it? anything for my fav dj
At Vicious Threads online or it should be in most record stores!
I don't know but for me the original Wirly version was still the best ... It was a good "cover" (if you can call it that with the Duff involved) but that JD-XA bass wasn't great
Yeah na. Uninspired vocals sorry but hard to surpass Michael. Best was the snippet at the end.
Well at least the music sounds good. Her vocals. I'll keep my opinion to myself.
Yeah, well seeing as this is a fundraiser of sorts (first thing that came to mind so just running with it) for Ollie Olsen whom very sadly and unfortunately has been diagnosed with multiple system atrophy, Adalita singing here is one thing.
That aside though, seeing as quite obviously the original singer (being Michael Hutchence) was quite obviously male, in my personal opinion i honestly think that if a female is to cover a song done by a male, that, that song would be best suited to a female whom has a lower octave vocal as opposed to someone of say, a soprano say, for example, octave.
I'm glad I'm not the only one. The orginal, with the vocal strength and range, sent shivers down your spine. This was just "nice". It's a fundraiser, so worth supporting, but I'll probably never play it.
Preordered the vinyl and cd!
