Very interesting and surprising collection of informatiol both structural and the principle people who have created grand domes. All historically presented too. A fine piece of work Zip Tie Domes, it adds a lot of credibility to your own already succesful projects.

I appreciate the quality of your research. But, the butchering of the European names was quite distracting. Piscator is pronounced "peace ka torr". "Piss cater" was almost offensive. The "AU" in German words is always pronounced the same as "OW", as in "owl" in English. Ws in German are Vs in English and "wise wersa". See what I did there? One last thing. Bauersfeld = "Bowers felt"
To be fair, it's not your fault. When I was 10 years old and we lived in Germany (I was an army brat), my English teacher put huge emphasis on the Latin roots and commonality between English and German. Most American children don't get English classes of that quality any more. If at all. So, sue your teachers. :) )
Keep up the great work! I love your channel.

Thank you for your comments. I read a lot of things, but I cannot hear how they actually sound. At least I did not use a robot voice.
Most of my research on Bauersfeld came from a PDF document written in German, which I had Google Translate render into English. Now that had some issues, but I could make out the details. But I do think almost anyone can do a better job in transmitting their ideas than Google translate can butcher a translation.
Yes, it is great that you had German teachers. You are lucky to have that experience. I also went to a private school here in the USA, but I studied French and not German.
And I have a Tennessee accent, not quite as bad as my mother-in-law from Georgia (her accent is "sweet as molasses"), but still there, and not noticeable to myself. If you speak perfectly in Tennessee, they won't trust you, as you must be a Yankee.
As Robert Burns said, "Oh would some gift, the Giver give us, To see ourselves, as others see us.
This would free us from many problems.
Thanks again for your comments. I appreciate what you have said.

I am enjoying your videos and have a very slight correction. It is Buckminster not Buckminister. Also, I knew a person with the name Bauersfeld, was pronounced as "Bowersfeld", but that does not mean your pronunciation is wrong.

I admit it, I have a problem with the correct pronunciation. At least it was not a robot voice. Thanks. John Hurt

fy ah, he's from Tennessee. It's about wanting to know and understand, not correct pronunciation. I'm quite sure you and your kind would have mocked Walter Gropius for his inability to draw. The world is full of truly ignorant people.

  • @oldmanfromscenetwentyfour8164

It fits that a person who couldn't draw would come up with the Bauhaus (Boxes) concept.

      Well, to be honest...
Just because someone is "brilliant" and "everybody likes their work" doesn't mean it is really that good. You could say that "Form follows Fashion", and not "function" or even the what the average person really wants. I would rather live in a nice log cabin than in some soulless high rise made out of glass, steel and concrete. But the designs of Gropius is "what happened to all of us". I find it interesting that corporations use the designs of Gropius because they are cheaper to build, while "real people" want to live in real houses that look like home. i understand that the house plans of Colonial Williamsburg have been copied all over America, and that is the type of house that people choose for their families, not some "modern motel design" that looks like a shoebox, with no ornamentation and no soul.
      Thanks for watching the video.
