8:20 "That target" means that the target has to meet the correct target requirements at resolution, so if the monster gets flipped down the monster won't get banished. "It" or "they/them" wording is the one that ignores the target requirements.
So basically if Helshaddoll Void says: "FLIP: You can target 1 face-up monster your opponent controls; send 1 "Shaddoll" monster with its same Attribute from your Extra Deck to the GY, and if you do, banish that monster." It still resolves even after bom?
3:48 I can't see exactly why they wouldn't attack it. My best guess is they don't want them to have a dark in grave to facilitate chaos sorc/BLS summon but that's it
8:15 it wont be banished cause the Sorcerer says: "banish THAT TARGET". If Sorcerer says: "banish IT", in this case, it would be banished even with the book of moon.
I like the GOAT format stuff. It's always nice to get away from stale formats. Also, about siding in GOAT, I try to always side an answer to the cards my main doesn't answer well Silent Swordsman LV2 and Blade Knight help cover flip decks in different ways. You can smokescreen basically any deck into Chaos. You can also put all the staples you can't fit or that aren't AS good in the side, like Trunade, more Chaos Sorc, Tsukiyomi, Dekoichi, various Monarchs, and so on. A lot of the main deck "cores" in GOAT are like 10-15 cards, most of which are useful in multiple decks, so the side can literally be a completely different main deck engine if you want it to be. Also, Trap Dustshoot is at 3 in GOAT format, so you can side it when going first. Lots of options, just takes tuning staples around your deck, really.
Dont know much about Goat but these duels look so much fun an interactive. Feels like that sweetspot on the development of the game where YGO begun to have a decently big cardpool of actually good and synergistic cards without getting into the crazy power spikes we see on modern. Also activating pot of greed without having to sacrifice your child to the God of Ash blossom and joyous feet hits different.
Iike seeing goat and modern. Different skill sets and adds variety to the channel. Watching more yugioh than playing, mostly because I’ve recently invested in other catch games, but still checking matches on your channel. Gotta love to see it
8:15 I think it doesn't get banished. "that target" it not the same as "it". For example atlatnean marksman can't pop the facedown target if its flipped face up when targeted, having the same wording on its effect.
Please more goat bro. It’s a lot of players my age in the high 20s and players in the 30s that love goat. It’s entertaining as hell and I’ve also started back playing. Keep up the good job bro, I’m supporting all the way
In regards to not attacking spy. I personally feel it was a mistake. THE only thing I could think of is if they could beat the board on the next turn like with a mirror force or something the spy’s would switch to attack position to do damage. He didn’t have any monsters nor the heavy at that moment. But he had snatch steal so I think that could be the only reason. There’s no huge problem with that insurance play however it’s definitely not normal lol
Also, to have a little more insight (sorry for the multiple comments, only see the video now and it's once a week soooo) On the last turn of player A of game 1, he chose to set Serpent to have 2 bodies to protect himself. Here are the 2 scenarios : - 1) Player B DOES NOT DRAW into another monster. Considering the fact he remembers that serpent is set. By setting serpent and not destroying stein, you have 2 monsters on board and he has 2. At this point, Gatling needs to do 1, 2 or 3 heads to kill you, that's 7/8 hence 87.5% chances (mathman here, binomial law etc...). If he does only 1 head, he kills Spy, then stein on serpent and gatling for game, 2 he breaks the board, 3 you saw in the vid. Other move : attack stein with Spy, then tribute Spy for face down TDrag. Here, if your opponent goes for Gatling, if he does 1 you die, that's all. Because 0 destroys nothing, and 2+ heads destroys Gatling (mandatory destruction "as much as possible") so that's only 1/8, 12.5%. Knowing this, if he doesn't go for Gating and just attack, if he has no other monster you live. 2) Player B DOES DRAW into a monster that can inflict 1300+ (case of the vid) Well, you die either way because Serpent is weak as f*ck in def. SO, to sum up, player A should have went for the Spy destroys Stein then tribute set for TDrag (and it would have prevented another Stein eff, just in case) Edit : don't mind the part about Stein's cost I'm dumb
but they couldnt use it again right ? cause it cost 5000 lp to do so also next time please leavetime stamps so i can see where in the match youre talking about exactly :)
@@TheDBGrinder yes indeed I will edit my comment I choked on stein's cost, thought it was Gale Dogra's cost for a minute haha I'll leave timestamps next time ! (Doesn't change the rest though :p)
Against reasoning gate you have to call 8 unless they've gone through dmoc. Dmoc is the entire game for that deck. Looping it with a d fusion is crazy and dmoc lets them add it from grave
Goat is the correct yugioh format. 8:00 Chaos sorc says "That target," which means the monster you picked must still be a legal target on resolution. If it said "Banish that monster," then book wouldn't protect sorc.
NGL kinda love seeing the goat format, we'll have to talk about it some next time! And my heart was filled with warmth when you said Dekoichi right lmao

On the other hand there are maybe some other decks I just don't know yet so seeing goat every once in a while is really nice
4:43 i think the guy didn't want to give him a dark monster in the grave..so his opp will have to crash into his monsters instead but when he didn't he knew he doesn't have a light or chaos monster so he just attacked over spy
Mayb don´t want them to have a dark in grave? Idk I thought it was weird since reasoning want to kill b4 they amass card advantage and draws into chaos monsters. Only way around spy in reasoning gate is lightning vortex, tt or just attacking (banishment from sorc too ig). Also, he had no idea if his opponent was playing a chaos deck with sorc or a more standard goat deck with md spy, although chaos decks are much much more common.
Also, locals has 20-30 goat tourneys. Its so much fun. Chaos Rock, Burn, Warrior Toolbox, Standard Goat. There’s actually more of everything else than standard goat. I always get heay-ed top deck. Gotta hate to see it.

I'd love to see more GOAT format obviously
3:44 put a didn't want to put a dark in grave maybe. You could also play around goat mandatory summon 4 but he went into baltar and he could have just left parshath on board if that's that's he wanted to to play around. Kinda weird imo
Actually there is no real reason to let Spy on board and not attack it Game 1 As soon as you see Spy, you can assume your opponent won't be playing any weird kind of decks (in rated particularly) so there won't be many light monster to fill the grave the turn after because most of them are Flip monsters, and some level 4 that couldn't actually do anything (Asura, Blade Knight etc...) So only means that your opponent can have a light monster in grave to go for a Chaos move would be to have Thunder Dragon. But in that case, you can discard TDrag, search, then tribute a Spy for a TDrag which still results in a Dark+Light in grave. OR you need to discard them for a Graceful charity. So basically, here, he let 2 big def monster and struggled to deal with them (like 3 turns) because Balter is stuck at 2000. And when you loose time in Goat, you loose the momentum, and you increase the odds of loosing the game, or you drag the match for longer than it should have been Edit : + there was no backrow at the time, so no possible Goat. And even if the opponent set goat next turn, it would have taken him a whole other turn to use it
