I am in no sense a professional reader, voice actor, or what have you. I began this audiobook project some years ago when some friends of mine jokingly said they'd read A Song of Ice and Fire (my favorite fantasy series) if I personally recorded the whole series in audiobook form and sent it to them. Having now made my way almost through the first two books in the series, I decided to join the small community of people who post their own amateur audibook readings to youtube, and share my efforts.
I have no intention of profiting off of the work that is copyrighted to George RR Martin. This upload is a tribute to a series I deeply love, and I strongly encourage you to purchase these books. You won't regret it.
Also I should give full credit to my cat, Claudio, for the frequent background meows and purring sounds you hear throughout.

I love how George plays with character identities, their names afd chapter names. Identity, character and realising who they are plays a vital role in every main characters story.

I really hope the line “raff looked up sharply at her” after she says “think so?” Means he realized who was killing him, not just that he was shocked someone was killing him
41:50 Oh, I never even noticed the first time I listened to this chapter how the narrator acknowledges her shift from Mercy into Arya near the end. Thought it just sort of went without saying. But, no. It was said.
Wow, reading/hearing the name Arya again after so many of her chapters is deeply gratifying, even more so than when George did the same delay with Theon. Winterfell/Stark forces are first recovering as individuals before hopefully coming together as an army stronger than ever…
Jon with his wildlings buddies, Sansa and her allies in the Vale, maybe with the addition of fAegon's forces, Arya with Nymeria's pack, rogue Faceless Men and maybe the BWB with Nymeria's pack as well, Bran with Howland Reed and the Order of the Green Men, Rickon with the Skaagosi and the forces of White Harbor... The House Stark reborn is going to be the scariest thing that Westeros will see, the 2nd Hour of the Wolf is coming!

No lemon trees in Braavos, but somehow Daenerys vividly remembers a lemon tree outside her room in Braavos. GRRM is subtly reminding us of this important detail.
yes, her eternally chasing a memory that never really existed. at least not how she wanted it to be.
@@biropgrules I actually think the house with the red door was in Dorne not Braavos. Makes sense that some Targaryen loyalists would be in Dorne, since Elia was married to the crown prince. So Daenerys spent her early childhood in Westeros without even knowing.
Isn't that room in Pentos?
Her house with the Red Door was on Pentos, with Magister Illyrio, if I remember correctly.

This is such a perfect chapter that I don't think George wants to get rid of it. It was clearly supposed to be after the five year gap since she should be way older than she is now. I guess she can be any age when putting a face on.
well based on the diolouge it sounds like he reincorporated it pretty well (with the guards describing her as a child)
Oh! I've been excited to get to this one. Arya is still one of my favorite characters and I keep hoping she'll realize she'll make a better warg than assassin and go find her wolf! If Rob would have figured it out...and maybe if Jon did...if if if. We know Rob's an unlikely comeback as they killed his wolf, but with Jon, there's hope. I have no clue what's going to happen with Bran and the youngest one...but Arya really needs to embrace and practice her gift!
And could you imagine controlling a dragon with your mind?
No matter how many names and faces a girl wears, when she dreams, she is always Arya Stark
Lommy "we should have yielded" Greenhands has been avenged.
I find it interesting how lommy greenhands isn't mentioned once throughout the chapter. I think it shows that Arya's need to kill the people on her list has become more about her bloodlust than justice
The whole mummers bit reminded me of working with this Brazilian opera singer, he was quite the diva and had a thick accent much like the ones you’re doing
