  • @tuesdayjam5905
    @tuesdayjam5905 Місяць тому +1

    Ehh, how about you change the title of your video - because this is NOT "what it's Really like Wild Camping in Scotland" - this was YOUR experience of wild camping. There are thousands of people who wild camp in Scotland who DON'T have your experience, cause they have the common sense where and when to wild camp in Scotland to avoid the worst of the midges. Frankly, where and when you camped with the weather being what it has - you were asking for it. So no, it's NOT "What its really like Wild Camping in Scotland", that's a false representation of my country. Sick and tired of you Sassenachs coming up then complaining about midges and the weather. Do your homework first, learn what to expect, or alternatively just don't bother, but DO NOT misrepresent my country.

    • @thehighlandlife2023
      @thehighlandlife2023  Місяць тому +2

      Yes it was ONE of our experiences wild camping, which we have done many many times before! This channel is about sharing our experiences!? Hence why the video is our experience of this one wild camp?!
      For your information we did as always do our research but as you well know the weather can chance at any given moment and we don’t always have the luxury of being able to choose what day we can do these things. And that’s what happened, it was windy enough when we first arrived and then the wind dropped! I am not and never have been about representing anyone’s country, merely sharing our experiences. It’s ridiculous to come onto my channel where I share MY experiences and be cross I am not sharing a different experience?! Seriously?! 🤦‍♀️

    • @thehighlandlife2023
      @thehighlandlife2023  Місяць тому +2

      I am a reasonable person and if you had maybe commented saying ‘ do you know what maybe your title is a bit misleading, it’s not always what it’s REALLY like’ and engaged in an adult conversation then we could have had a chat about it like grown adults. But you didn’t, you came at me aggressively and used derogatory terms, that doesn’t show you in a great light. However I have taken note of your comment and changed the title of the video. I hope your evening improves 🙏

You say your proud of your kids for "just getting on with it" but tbh kids are generally resilient anyway though it must have been really hard for the youngest especially as she was really keen by the sounds of you saying she was upset to be leaving. Also, at the start of the video, what a great big sister helping younger sister with bagpack, they must have a great bond with one another which is lovely to see and must make you so proud of them and their bond 😀. Ah fair play sticking out the week, so interesting what you said about actually over time not being so bad. I wonder why that is? 🤔
      We would normally take fire wood and a fire pit but this time our wild camp was a bit of a hike and carry a tent and all that’s needed for 6 people meant we couldn’t carry anymore fire wood. The last times we have done a summer camp we have had a camp fire as the hike in wasn’t as far as this one! So lesson learnt 🤣

    Sorry that the midges ruined your camping adventure. We encountered midges in Iceland and they were NO fun!

    It does look 50/50 of relaxing and annoyed by the midges 😂. Hope you have a lot to remember ❤

      Yeah it was a bit of a mix for sure! But the midges got the better of us 🤣

    Buy a Thermacell unit for in the tent and Avon skin so soft for yourself.

      I have heard of these but thought they were for mosquito’s? And not seen anyone mention they work for midges so never got one. Have you used them with midges? I’d be interested to hear your experience. I am very tempted to get one to try tbh.
      We have smidge on and that does seem to work to some extent and seems to stop being bitten but they are still all over you. I might try the skin so soft one and see, thank you 🙏
