The kid simbolizes "innocence and a pure soul", thus, this song is about discovering God inside us, it's about faith and hope in sucha place that usually are considered dark and sad, that's why Madonna said the video was filmed in the Bronx, cuz you can find light and beauty in sucha place considered sad, poor and hopeless... she's a genious, no doubt.

Love it!!! The next Madonna tour you react to should be The Drowned World Tour. It was her first tour she did after The Girlie Show, which was an 8 year break from touring. The show was her first since she released Bedtime Stories, Ray Of Light, and Music albums and the film Evita, so it included many first time performances of her songs on tour with a few greatest hits at the end. Definitely worth a watch! 🙂

Could be my top 3 best Madonna song ever. I remember the first time I heard it, Madonna had me shook. I had no idea she had that in her. I really miss this Madonna. Shes still experimental but not in the amazing way she was in this time.
This song was Madonna consecutive 36º TOP 10 single in UK. This is an all time record among all artists (Cliff Richard comes second with 24). Sadly "Take a Bow", Madonna's longest #01 in US was her first single to miss UK TOP 10 peaking at #16 in UK Single Charts.
Madonna was on a bit of a decline during this period and end up desperately needing Ray of Light to propel her back on top as the 90s closed. But I think the years have been kind to Bedtime Stories, and as the years pass it will be considered one of her strongest, most consistent album.
Bedtime Stories was an upswing commercially compared to Erotica. Ray of Light and MUSIC were just so massive it made Bedtime Stories pale in comparison commercially.

The show was her first since she released Bedtime Stories, Ray Of Light, and Music albums and the film Evita, so it included many first time performances of her songs on tour with a few greatest hits at the end. Definitely worth a watch! 🙂

And reading a few comments regarding the meaning of the song. I was always lead to believe that "my baby's got a secret' was that her man was gay? Or had a underlying message of transgender issues. By that she was singing from a mans point of view of falling for a trans female?

Could be my top 3 best Madonna song ever. I remember the first time I heard it, Madonna had me shook. I had no idea she had that in her. I really miss this Madonna. Shes still experimental but not in the amazing way she was in this time.
I agree about it being retro. I grew up in the 70's. It's 70's, but not quite. There is something compelling and soulful about it.

This song was Madonna consecutive 36º TOP 10 single in UK. This is an all time record among all artists (Cliff Richard comes second with 24). Sadly "Take a Bow", Madonna's longest #01 in US was her first single to miss UK TOP 10 peaking at #16 in UK Single Charts.
Madonna was on a bit of a decline during this period and end up desperately needing Ray of Light to propel her back on top as the 90s closed. But I think the years have been kind to Bedtime Stories, and as the years pass it will be considered one of her strongest, most consistent album.
Bedtime Stories was an upswing commercially compared to Erotica. Ray of Light and MUSIC were just so massive it made Bedtime Stories pale in comparison commercially.

Secret itself went number 3 and stayed for many weeks in the top 10. It was a HIT, it just went forgotten over time because she just has so many hits and even bigger. Secret’s results would be a highlight in any other artist career.

"Secret" was #01 on Worldwide charts for 4 weeks. It's also one of Madonna TOP 5 biggest hits of all time in both France and Germany. Before "Erotica" all Madonna studio albums all sold way over 10 million copies each. "Erotica" did sold less than most Madonna albums at the time stalling at 6 million records and "Bedtime Story" sold over 7 million. When this came out, among the group I hung out with, a lot of trans woman told me that they felt this was their sing with their partners. I know some relate it with maybe a secret love child. I mean all art is subjective. I just got so much happiness watching my friends have meaningful glances with partners they couldn't always reach out to. Or the way they would light up when "your song" comes on.
