- The Open-World Time Capsule. This is Beamish Open Air Museum, and it's like an open-world video game set during the Industrial Revolution. You can go inside and explore all the buildings, and interact with the hundred or so actor who work around the park, in character / costume. It's so cool!
This is a sort of Bonus Great British Adventure I filmed during summer. This place is only a couple of miles from the Angel of the North, and I really wanted to make a video about it, although it didn’t fit with any of the A-Z themes. So here it is.

Half-Asleep Chris it was 💯
GG :)
This should be one of the A-Z coins!
Ok
Hello
You really deserve about 1mil subs.
I have never seen such well edited videos.
Well done!
Thanks :D
That's nice
He has 2 million now!
I live right next to Beamish once on a school trip everybody went to get sweets in the sweetshop but I went to the bakery to get a loaf of bread
It makes me so excited and happy that you made a video about Beamish because Beamish is one of my favourite places to go to with my friends especially around Christmas time
It's a wonderful place. I'd love to go around Christmas, I bet that's incredible!
Half-Asleep Chris They put on loads of events and you can get a moulled wine
I live near it too and went on a school trip at Christmas too and it was a great day! Lots of events were set up just for us school kids to take part in and since it was a week day there weren't may people there, which made it really immersive!
Same lol I’ve probably been there 20 times I’ve also been on a school trip and I got cola cubes
Please dont stop uploading videos they are amazing 🇴🇲🇬🇧
Thanks so much! :)
Half-Asleep Chris no thank you we have the easy job of only subscribing and watching it
Love from across the pond in the hottest US State! Arizona!
Yes i love chris' videos
Unless theres a cure for aging,
He will get old and sadly unable to make these
You get too little attention for your work! You make AWESOME videos.
Thanks so much :)
So underated
2:12 that was legitness
Sounds like a super cool museum.
I love interactive things like that.
Great video too btw lol
This was uploaded while i was at school. So i watched during break and said it was a history video.
This museum is so authentic I caught Cholera there !
Half-Asleep Chris, If you like this museum, you'll love its brother museum, St Fagan's near Carrdiff.
It tells the story of Welsh life, considering I'm Welsh and love history particularly the 20th century, it is one of my favourite places to go. From the Gwalia stores to the time line of houses, it is a perfect example of history. There is an entire street which shows progression a decade at a time, which is fascinating.
This place is perfect for a low budget short film about time travel to the pastXD
The video is like always very great. I hope I can go to the museum at some time.
Btw when does the postcard video come?
Hey! Thanks :) Postcard video will be Saturday, I had wanted to have it done for today but it's just taking a bit longer than I thought and I didn't want to rush it. Thanks for you letter / cool pop-ups, I loved it!
No queue for the sweet shop?!
I recon what's shown on this video is a replica of Beamish Museum, reconstructed brick by brick, as every time I go to *real Beamish* there is a queue for my sweets!!! *Grr!*
seriously though when are there no queues for the sweet shop as yeah i want my sweets.
I adore living museums, there's something so magical about walking through streets and buildings that haven't changed at all. Some of my favourites are Ironbridge, Milestones, Morwellham Quay, and Chiltern Open Air Museum, which even has its own working farm! Always enjoy your videos 😊
No way, I live like 10 miles from Milestones, never knew that's what it was!! I hadn't even heard of a living museum until Beamish, but will definitely visit Milestones in the near future (And hopefully some of the others too) Thanks! :)
@@HalfAsleepChris No problem! It's a little different from some of the outside museum towns, but a good day out nonetheless
Oh milestones is amazing, I’ve moved away from it now but i used to live nearby
@
1:41 the steam locomotive on the railway is a hudswell Clarke 1700 class (wissington) and it’s owned by the mid Suffolk light railway
There is a reason I love your videos, they are unique, cool and fun to watch! I love the way you tell about different things and tell it such a way that makes everything interesting! 😃 To conclude I just want to say good work making awesome videos!
Thanks so much! I try to make videos about anything that interests me, regardless of what that might be, and so they all turn out enthusiastic and interesting (to me at least) :)
You should visit Suffolk and see Sutton Hoo and look at the mounds and stuff! I live very close to there and it's amazing there and makes a great day out 😊
Thanks for the suggestion, I'll look into it! :)
I love that Chris likes to travel. Because I do to and it’s supper cool hearing about different places. That museum sounds really cool!!!!
'Ball in the cup' c'mon how many takes?
I promise you.... 1!! And I did it about 10 more times in a row as well. I think the string was a bit / a lot shorter than normal, because I'm usually no good at them!
@@HalfAsleepChris hahahaha nice one.
Tbh this is my new fav yt channel theres so mutch happiness in it when theres one dark side theres one light side:) i hope tom will come back with his 5th life or 4th or 3rd or 2nd
Every time that I’ve been to Beamish it’s always been an amazing and rememberable experience. I totally recommend it!
I live near and I can confirm, that this is an amazing world class museum with fully restored trams and buses and real buildings from the North East that capture life in the North of England from various eras
Another cool museum in Britain is the Streetlife Museum in Kingston Upon Hull.
Really cool as this one!
I went here once as a kid, still have a couple of souvenirs to this day. Wouldn't mind visiting again, sure has grown since I was there.
How do you release such good videos twice a week that are this good??!!😲
Thank you! Hard work and late nights :)
Why dont you have 1 million subscribers? Your content has more quality than most creators
Thanks so much! :)
WOW. I want to go there!!! It's so epic! UK is very beautiful, I was once in London. But Dover, and these small villages are so beautiful! (I drove through them). I love this museum!
Oh my goodness. I went there! I absolutely loved it!
So have I isn't it cool
Accidental grammar mistake
Goodness i love your videos, they help me wind down after a stressful day and your voice is really soothing! Keep up the good work! (Btw, i live about 30 minutes away from here, and im glad you enjoyed it so much!)
I'm literally adding this place to my bucket list, awesome vid! :)
That’s really cool Chris!!! I went there a few years ago and I really loved it and I hope you did too! Well done for 100k subscribers as well and I really hope you reply to me because I love your videos ❤️
The moment I saw the thumbnail I knew this would be about Beamish! I've loved the museum since I first visited when I was around 7, managed to go back last summer and its had updates that meant it was both new and nostalgic! Definitely a wonderful place to visit, preferably with several days to do so!
This is so informative! It's really interesting to see history feel alive and not in a book. Also, well done on mastering the ball in a cup
You deserve so many more subscribers
Who agree.
🙂🙂🙂
Thanks so much! :)
I agree
Me spells me
My grandfather was a pharmacist after he got out of the war. When he became ill he donated some artifacts. Whenever I see the museum, I think of him.
I've always dreamt of such a place like this, knowing that there actually exists one brings me joy.
I like how you go everywhere in Britian, It shows how much you care about your videos and viewers, I've been to beamish many times since I live in the North East so it's nice to see the recognition! I live in Durham and was hoping you could do a video about Durham Cathedral. Thank you.
Knew this was beamish just form the thumb nail, ahhh, I love this museum. So blessed to be living so close to it & being able to do my work experience here. ❤️
You are my favourite UA-camr I’ve watched almost all of you’re videos at least 2 times
We have a similar museum where I’m from in Tennessee called the Museum of Appalachia. They did the same sort of thing with the buildings to move them, and my grandfather actually attended the one room school house that’s now on the site. His class picture is on the wall in the building.
This was absolutely fascinating! What a perfect way to teach history...👍🏼
You’re super underrated! This video was awesome! That train looks so fun!
I'd love to visit this place! I don't think I'd ever found out about it if it wasn't for you Chris! Not only do you make great videos, but also you educate us! Totally in love with it❤️ Plus, it made me super happy to see my country's flag on that school poster🇺🇾
Hey thanks a lot!
This is one of your best videos, I hope it gets more views
This is just great Chris you should definitely deserve 10X more subscribers than you have now
Amazing! Chris and thanks so much for the card :D I learn so much from you
James Mullen I got one of Chris cards to feel so privileged to receive one 😁
Hey! Thanks for your drawing - it was really thoughtful and lovely!
Great Video. I love watching these short movies. They inspire me to even make my own!
Thanks a lot, glad to hear that! :)
Wish this video had more views, defiantly one of my favourite of yours!
I was just re-watching your videos last night, so getting a notification right now made me so happy 😁 😆
Glad to hear it, thank you!
I went there once as kid and loved it so much and still today would enjoy to go back and have look around
This looks like so much fun!
This is now in my itinerary of must see places in the United Kingdom, awesome video congratulations 🍾
Thanks :)
OMG I LOVE THESE KIND OF THINGS!!
Well, now I know where Absolute History's Full Steam Ahead Documentary was filmed. Absolutely charming!
Looks brilliant, thank you.
As a transport nerd, this place is amazing! Vintage double decker buses and trams and an old historical railway to top it off! Not to mention the tonnes of history surrounding it all!
Looks amazing, it seems similar to colonial Williamsburg here in the us. I went a few years ago and loved learning about and experiencing how people lived back then
You're one of my windows of the outside world!!
'Cause i almost never leaves my house...
How amazing!! I definitely want to visit here someday.
Some of my family live near Beamish and isn’t it beautiful! Also, I recommend that you go to the sweet shop and watching them make sweets. Your videos are amazing Chris, keep going.
I live right near here and in the winter the funfair turns to ice skating and sometimes there are lessons in the school which are very interesting. Overall it is it such a cool place and this video portrays it very well. Well done 👍🏻
Let's just appreciate how he still likes almost everyone's comment
Yeeeeeaasassssss new video so happy!!! ❤️❤️
Thanks!
I'm a wee bit late to this one, but I'm glad you have featured a historical reenactment village, I used to work in historical reenactments as a tour guide at a Liverpool museum, I'd be the daughter of the Piermaster, as I could sing really well and play the piano not well at all. All these lovely videos need is Bella and Ralph in Edwardian outfits in their own little old bus.
This is a great living museum my daughter and I love it and have been many times over the years now with the 1950s town not quitefinished but on a good way can’t wait for the cinema to open l am hoping that you will soon be able to stay there as a holiday Hotel or as a working holiday 😊 my daughter and I always enjoy visiting this great museum l recommend it to anyone who is interested in old buildings and vehicles 😊👍
Amazing video , sorry i didn't whatching it yesterday tough day , but i really enjoyed the vid i also recommend the black country museum.👍🏻👍🏻
What an interesting place! Definitely putting it on a list of places to see whenever I get a chance to make it across the Atlantic. :)
I really want to visit there! Great video
Yes! I used to go down to beamish all the time as a kid, i always used to go to the back of the sweet shop and get free sweets, and then go down into the pit.
Glad you made a video on it! :D
I’m going tomorrow with my cousin. Thanks for the awesome info👌
Try going to the Black Country Living Museum! It's really good and you might enjoy it. It's quite the same as the Beamish Open Air Museum, all the buildings are real and the coal mine is the same. Based off the Victorian era in the Black Country. It's got trams and buses that you can ride on and *really* good chips (thing is you will wait for 'em). My grandad's shovels are in the shovel store and it's a great experience. Here's the location: Tipton Rd, Dudley DY1 4SQ.
YAY you posted this on my birthday! Oooooh this is so interesting, I would love to go there!!!
Happy Birthday, hope it's amazing!
Why are all those historical vehicles so BEAUTIFUL
I just found your channel today! Your videos are really really good!!!!
This is so amazing I hope I can visit there some day!
This looks amazing!
This reminds me of a place in Prince Edward Island where they have a town set up to match the town in the book Anne of green gables, complete with people dressed and acting in character. They have an old schoolhouse like how it has in the book. They have slates to write on with chalk (though you definitely aren’t allowed to break them over other people’s heads).
This is so fricking cool!
It's been a while since i've checked on your channel, Keep on with your good content!
I've been here since the 2nd-3rd video and everyone keeps getting better (not saying your old content was bad xd)
But I hope your channel will blow up at some point.
Best of luck
-ping_high
Beamish is a quick bus ride from where I live my friends and I go regularly through the year when we can, the best thing for us is you pay once for your first entry then have free entry to the museum for the rest of the year
There's a town like this near me! It much smaller, only one full town, but there's lots of houses to look through, a few museums like one dedicated to George Eastman made out of his childhood home, all sorts of demonstrations of 19th century things like blacksmithing and tinsmithing, fabric arts stuff etcetera. I went there on a school trip as a kid and it was the most interesting way to learn history. Comparing it to an open world game is probably the best comparison I've heard.
Woooow!!! Omg that‘s soooo cooool!! I love it! And great Video👍
Your Cookie
Thanks so much! :)
I’m a little ( or 6hrs. Maybe) late! But I LOVE the vid! They get better and better every time you post a vid....!
I’m still getting my letter ready...... I am SOOOOOO late on them!😞🤗
Hey thanks so much! I look forward to receiving it :D @@amberredanz6930
Sounds really interesting, nice video!
Thanks Chris, I've been wanting to go to Beamish for a long time. Must add it to my visit list for this year.
It's a wonderful place, especially on a nice summer's day! :)
I still can’t believe he went here. I went here when I went to Northumberland and it was really cool. I recommend going to the bakery because it smells really nice!
Wow that sounds and looks really cool. When I was in 6th grade we went on this field trip to this place that looked like the 1900s.
If I ever travel to the UK in the future, this is one place I’ll definitely go!
It's super cool!
OMG the fish and chip shop is the BEST!
Just to say I live near beamish there building a lot more historic places like 1950s and a Georgian hotel and some persons home who was murderd him and was never solved
just wonderful
Never heard of this! Going to have to go here
I live just up the road from here! They have an ice rink open at Christmas down by the school, which is really cool. They are busy building a 1950's town which is due to open very soon - i've heard that it's going to include a cinema!
I love beamish, especially the pit village.i love how litterelly everything is just how they would have done it in the old days. Glad you made a video on it. Also, are you going to make a video on the fan mail?
Yes! The video will be on Saturday at 6pm. And it's a really cool video, I'm still finishing it but hopefully I've approached it in an interesting / creative way. And I'll have to get out my uV lamp when I show yours :D
looks really cool!
Great vlog and great place to visit
I love this.
I've been to Beamish so many times, best place ever!!
I live right next to beamish and it is an amazing place to go to, especially at Christmas! As well as this there is a beautiful forest next to the meuseum which is a great place to explore!
I've been to Beamish a couple of times and I've always loved it
