3:00 - Your allies were zooming through that whole section because that's what you kinda have to do there. That's an infinite enemy horde that only stops once you turn off the alarm at the end.
14:40 - Yes! Your first "custom" attack pattern. There's a surprisingly deep amount of flexibility in figuring out different attack patterns by resetting combos, mixing in block attacks, light & heavy attacks to make different patterns for different situations. The rabbithole can get pretty crazy with mixing up attack patterns.
19:00 - Repeatedly dodging in the same direction & block-pushing is a great way to get unstuck from a horde if you need to regroup with your team. Sometimes it isn't worth it to fight a horde, and it's better to regroup first, but I'd be lying if I said I don't get the occasional zealot bloodlust and lose track of where everybody is xD
22:20 - It's probably better that you waited, tbh. The game was in a very rough state on launch. Much more frequent crashes and hitches, no talent system, the weapon customization was non-existent (you basically had to check the shop every few hours to see if you lucked out on the random weapons. If you didn't, sucks to be you). There were also far less enemy types, maps and objective types, and map modifiers. The game is in so much better of a state now.
30:00 - Personally, I think they both have merit. I like the long-form minimal editing, but a "highlight reel" kinda thing with funny moments could also be fun.
32:00 - Game is 10x better with keyboard and mouse. Easier to aim, you can spin around easier, much more precision on throwing knives.
36:20 - That was definitely a situation where shooting it was perfectly fine. Far away from the rest of the team so no danger of it exploding on an ally, and you had plenty of time before it got to you.
40:00 - Lol, this whole section was hilarious. Everybody on the team was oblivious to the dh chillin' in the corner. I was so confident somebody would accidentally run into it.
49:45 - Nope. You gotta push poxbursters away before dodging. They have basically no hit mass, so a push sends them absolutely flying away.
50:40 - Your screen is bright because you only have 1 wound left. That's the game telling you if you get knocked down again, you're insta-dead.

      1. This makes a lot more sense! Sure is fun fighting the unlimited horde though >.> lol
      2. This was extremely easy to do. A lot easier than I thought, and definitely one I'm gonna use more often with the Relic Blade, especially for hordes. It's things like this that show Darktide is an iceberg. A cool amount on top with a TON of nuance and content once you go deeper.
      3. The Zealot bloodlust is something I suffer from so much. Facing a horde down is one of the best feelings in this game
      4. Yeah I agree, I'm glad I joined in once they got it all put together. I was thinking about this in terms of Destiny. I've been playing since the Destiny beta, but I don't think ANYONE should have played it when it first came out. So I understand this sentiment with Darktide. Plus, more game for me to enjoy!
      5. I really think I'm gonna put together a highlight reel or two for each class when I feel I've "finished" with it. Sounds like a lot of fun, but a lot of time going through footage
      6. My boomer brain is so bad with keyboard unless it's an mmo lol
      7. Yeah I figure with poxbursters it'll be about location. I can't wait til I get the muscle memory down. Even in the next part I try to just dodge from it and failing and just think "just push it dumb dumb" but I'll get it.
      8. there...there was a daemonhost in this section?! O_O
      9. This will be muscle memory for me at some point lol
      10. AH THANK YOU! I figured it had something to do with health or corruption, but this makes way more sense.

I think the secret sauce that makes this game so fun is that you can make it as complicated or simple as you want, use a melee weapon with a simple attack pattern, or use something with a complex combo. And the difficulty curve is so well made, going up in difficulty doesn't just give the enemies more health but makes the spawns more dense as well, but enemies don't feel spongy due to the talent system so it's satisfying rather than annoying. those two things come together to make an extremely enjoyable learning experience.

This perfectly encapsulates why I love this game. You can pop in and kill stuff or you can go super white knuckle. I adore it

Great video as always Breadley. I got a small tutorial here regarding medical stims and wounds!
The med stim (Green) is one of the more useful stims you can find. It cures 1 fully corrupted health segment or 25% of a player’s max hp. Whichever one is larger is the one that gets affected. However, the med stims are also more practical for players with fewer wounds (the segments in your health bar). Let me explain why.
Starting from level 4 (Heresy) going forward, all players receive -1 total wounds, setting each character down to 2 wounds by default, except for the Ogryn who stays at 3. By not wearing any extra wound curios, you basically cut your health into 2 segments, and if you go down, half your health becomes corrupted (purple). However, the great thing about this is that if you simply use a med stim on yourself after being downed, you always recover 50% of your max hp and save yourself from being on the verge of death. You basically get more value from the stim and the same applies when used on your teammates. Even if you have 3 wounds, you still profit as you heal 33% instead of 25% as long as the wound is corrupted. You want to save the medical stims for after you or someone else goes down, or is severely corrupted by other means.
It tends to be a bad idea to bring extra wound curios to higher difficulties unless your build specifically requires it, because the game eventually turns into a matter of not going down in the first place. Taking the time to revive someone can be very risky and it tends to be better to use curios that increase your overall survivability. You will see a lot of players running around with 2 wounds on higher difficulties, because they are using the curios for other things, such as toughness or stamina. And as mentioned, the medical stim becomes more effective the less wounds you currently have. This is why it is a good idea to use them on your teammates with fewer wounds than yourself if they are corrupted.
You can feel safe in using one or two extra wounds while learning the game or trying something new. However, whenever you get to the point were you become confident in your own ability to consistently stay alive, then using your curios for other things might be more optimal. Also, if you are running around with more than 3 wounds, then you are not getting any good value for using the medical stim. I hope this is helpful! 😉

Thank you for tuning in to another one! And this is some wonderful advice. I love the indepth explanation of how wounds work! There's one more episode that I recorded a few days ago and ill have some new ones coming this week where I can start acting on this advice!

05:12 always dodge it, and you can always push it out of the air or if its near you just do a push so it gets staggered. It always gets staggered by a push.

Hey breadley! I enjoy the longer chill videos, but mostly the fact that you record stuff as you discover it, and its genuine.
@47:00: I'm pretty sure blocking alone doesn't work for pouncing hounds. You need to push them or dodge to the side if they are midair. I say "pretty sure" 'cause I never tried haha.

You are getting good at Toughness management. Keep it up! Also, when you are in the middle of a Horde and you hear a Trapper or Pox Hound, it is a good idea to Push away the mob to disengage it before the Trapper/Dog gets to you so you have room to Dodge.

The first time I was introduced to Warhammer 40k was when one of my friends who is no longer with us god emperor watch over him invited me to watch a game at a comic/hobby store and it was space wolfs vs Tyranids and the game lasted for about 5-6 hours and the time just flew by cause all I was doing was admiring the figures on how awesome they were painted and looked in general. Some time after that I got Vermintide and got addicted to the gameplay moved on to Vermintide 2 and now here we are at Darktide and space Marine 2 its a good time to be a Warhammer fan.

Dodges have a limit in how many times you can do them consecutively before they lose the invulnerability, Relic Blade has 4 dodges, duelling sword has 4 or 5

Staying with your team is more important than killing enemies, the hoard will come to you, you don't need to go sprinting off like a blood-drunk berzerker (which, admittedly, is good roleplay for the class lmao that zealot voice says some sus shit)

@@akabreadley Unfortunately, there is no current way to change it within the game unless you are using a keyboard. However, one of the few ways you can change the controller is to manually edit the mod file to change your key binds. I personally would recommend using a keyboard for this game as it was clearly designed for it, but if you want to stick with controller, then this is the only advice I could find.
