My friend @ 1:41, instead don't you push negative charges on one plate which then repel the negative charges on the other plate leaving it positive? I thought it was electrons that flow, not protons.
It is not a requirement, and not all capacitors have insulators between the plates, but it makes it easier to manufacture them and it gives them a higher capacitance.

Have anyone of you want to pass a law so we can only allow this kind of decent education in college rather than those third level terrible education? If we make them online, it must be affordable to everyone.

In the real world, electrons move along conductors. In circuit theory we use the general approach that positive charges move along the conductor.

There is a gap there and the charge cannot bridge the gap (unless the field is strong enough).
