Hey just want to say thanks for making so many awesome video resources man! Your channel has been super useful for me the last 12mths while I update my setup. Appreciate the help! 🙏
Not a problem, glad you found it useful! Be sure to subscribe for more videos like this in the future! Just uploaded another one about the RC-300 you might like! ua-cam.com/video/AX-Ad7g9jEI/v-deo.html All the Best, Ben
The reason why you are controlling via tempo tap is because the signals are acting as a tap tempo... So this will desync to the second beat if you suddenly change tempo as tap tempo requires 2 beats to activate. Food for thought I think there is a way of doing it direct but ai am still playing about with settings.
Shemra help me! I bought an RC 300 and a POD HD 500 line6, would you make a video with these equipment to show their sync loop at the same time. or video idea, would be to use the "UP" and "DOWN" pedal to manipulate banks or delete loops.
Is this trick works JUST using MIDI cable? Because i'm trying to adjust my Mac and used "usb to host" cable (daw is logic pro x). Could you please give a reply: is it possible to do this trick without midi cable? Very cool tutorials! Cheers
Hey Ben, you say that you need to plug in your midi cable from your midi output of the rc-300 into the midi IN of your audio interface. I have 2 midi controllers, a launchpad and launchkey which are connected via my usb in my laptop. Will these controllers both be compatible and send their data to the rc-300 as they are not directly connected to the interface or rc-300? And if so, will the Ableton tempo/metronome adjust to the timing of my rc-300 which i would be creating by simply using the looper pedals? Thanks for ur vids!
Great video. I’m a dj and musician. I have Denon prime SC5000 and x1800 mixer and I want to loop live percussion with my rc300 staying synced to my dj gear. Do you think this is possible?
You have made the rc-300 relevant with your tutorials.. Thank You!... But can you assign the useless EXP Pedal to send MIDI out info to control other devices like a Boss DD-500?
Thanks for the video! Do you know by any chance the settings in RC-505 to sync it with Ableton via MIDI-to-USB cable? It shows up as "USB Midi" under MIDI Ports but can't get it to sync with all input and output "track", "sync" and "remote" selected.
Hey! This video may help you out: ua-cam.com/video/LG_bexPS7pU/v-deo.html I think you need to turn Ext. on which I show in the linked video. Hope you get it sorted! All the Best, Ben
Hi Ben! Thanks for this brilliant tutorial! One question, I've got it setup exactly as you describe here but when I watch the tempo on the RC300 it occasionally drops 0.1bpm. The cumulative effect of this is that after about 6x8-bar loops, the pedal audibly lags behind Ableton. Any ideas how to fix this?
Hi Alfie, just wanted to ask if you found the solution. I have the same problem but my setup is based on SDRUM + Midi Solutions Beat Converter + RC-300. So this way I also send CC64 message to RC-300 and it detects the tempo, however, the tempo changes from time to time and sometimes I see an even bigger difference.
@@СтаниславСавицкий-о7в Hey, I don’t think there is a solution... apparently midi clocks fluctuate from device to device so this discrepancy always creeps in... unless you have a loop pedal which has true slave functionality, unlike the boss RC300. That’s my take, could be wrong. Personally, I just gave up and learnt how to use ableton as a looper using clyphx.
Drum Machine and RC-300 sync question: I’m trying to sync up my RC-300 to my Electribe drum machine, which I can do but with limitations: every time I change the patch on the RC it changes the channel on the Electribe and also it turns off the Electribe when I stop the RC, defeating my hope of letting the drum machine continue for DJ-like mixing in between RC songs. I haven’t any success making the Electribe the host of the time clock. any help would be appreciated. I love all the info in your videos!!!
Hello I'm looking for a loop who would detect the rhythm at the first guitar chords played and with whom I can launch the drum rhythm at the foot !! I have an RC 300 from boss but he doesn't do all that would you have any advice to give me to solve my solution ! However thé RC 300 as soon as you stop the first track all the rhythm stop which is not practical because I am looking for an Uber that continues the rhythm to be able to pass on other chords for différent verse for example or the chorus ! Looping with thé louper of Ableton màke that well but i dont Want anti computer in live bécause not So Surely and not very easy. Thanks for your answer
Great video, really helpful, thank you for your advices!! May I ask you, how would be the connection between Boss rc 300 (where I connect acoustic guitar + looping microphone) and MIDI controller (for example "Akai MPK Mini MKII") to add some synth/sample during live looping and Ableton? And is better to buy midi controller or stand alone instrument (keyboard) ? Thank you a lot ! :)
Hello Ben. Thank you for all tutos. I have RC300 and beatbuddy. How to slave RC300 and beatbuddy Master. I whant to sync start and stop since my beatbuddy trigger. Thank you for your help. Excuses me for my bad language
So when I sync Ableton’s clock to my Boss RC-300, the play/stop/record buttons on Ableton stop working. What’s up with that? I wanna trigger and record scenes synced to my loopstation. Am I missing something?
Hey man. Am I able to connect the RC-300 to my iphone, using the connect Apple USB3 Camera Adapter? Its possible to do so with a usb mic, but my concern is, you usually need to instal the boss drivers, for USB to function within a computer.
anyone know how to get the tap tempo to only use whole numbers?? trying to get it to only land on full numbers like 112 instead of 112.7...is this possible? thanx
Hi Ben, great vids! I'm a percussionist from Berlin Germany and as the electronic newbee I am I long to connect a Boss DB 90 metronome as master for the RC 300, in terms of beeing the tempo/click chief. Also I own a Steinberg UR22C (midi-capable) Interface, an Edirol M16-DX Mixer/Interface (also midi-capable) and Ableton live 9. At first stage I would like to work with the RC300, the M16-DX and the DB90, establishing a street-music analogue/digital setup. In the future I also want to integrate Live Do you recommend beeing the DB 90 the 'click master'? And how to route it?
Hi Ben, great vids! question for you. Do you know how to possibly have an external pedal to trigger the REC function on the RC300? the damn thing has every option imaginable save the most important one (REC). If not is there a way to mod the pedal so that I can use an external pedal to trigger record on the station (say if im far away from the pedal on stage or something)! thanks again for your tips! keep em coming...
Hey Ben. I'm wanting to use my fs5u pedal to tap in to my ms3 then go midi out to the rc300 just to control the tempo. Basically make the fs5u the master tap of both the ms3 and rc300. It will be able to control time based effects plus the bpm on the rc300. I've managed to control the effects on the ms3 via that but still struggling to control the bpm of the rc300 with going midi out ms3 to midi in rc300. Head is pickled with it
Hey dude I actually did this a while ago on iOS using a platform (Mozaic) which lets you program MIDI. I don’t think I ever managed to sync start and stop messages though, any suggestion? Like, I could change the tempo directly from my iPhone but I had to sync manually the steps by “starting” the looper still the right time so to speak. Anyway, I will try to get that working otherwise but if you do know it would be great if you could let us know how to instead! Nice channel btw. I love looping, I’d seriously suggest incorporating an iPad in your production there’s amazing loopers for iOS. You could sync them to a behringer FCB-1010 I’m sure people would love that as an alternative (cheaper and yet same functionality, and even more since the FCB is just a foot controller really).
Great videos dude. Very helpful. I was wondering if you have any advice in regards to using Ableton as slave for RC 300? I am attempting to get it to all to work cohesively. Once playing its fine, but when I start either from scratch, or do an all stop, all start (dynamics ftw), Ableton takes moment to sync back up 100%. So its out of time for a few beats, and then links up again. Is this just outdated RC 300 software? Or is Ableton not able to lock in straight up? As you can imagine, its a pain in the arse!! Long winded question. Hope you've got an idea. Keep it up champ!
Thanks David! I know the exact issue your having as my RC-505 does the same thing. I think it’s because when the loops stop, it also stops sending the MIDI Clock data. A quick thought/solution, would be to actually mute your looper pedal output with a switch, instead of stopping the loops. If you know what I mean? But it’s then getting complicated....
That idea had crossed my mind. It’s definitely doable... Been using the rc300 for a few years and looking at other options/expanding.. From your setup, I can see you know what I mean. Haha Thanks for the reply. I do appreciate it. Keep rocking dude! 🤘🏼
hey dude, super helpful vids. i’m putting a setup together with logic pro x on my mac, a midi controller and the rc300 and i can’t get the rc300 to loop the stuff i’m playing on the midi...is this because i haven’t got a separate audio interface box? 😅cheers
Hey man, great video's! I have problems with midi syncing my rc 300 to ableton live. I use the rc 300 as the master, but tempo is constantly drifting. 120 bpm going up and down from 119.8 to 120.1 etc.. (in ableton)Is this something that can be managed, or do I have to change to the 505? What do you think?
For some reason I can't get this work work with Logic. I've pretty much followed the exact steps, the tempo just won't change on the device. Anyone have any success with logic?
Hey Ben, thanks for the awesome vids man. How do you deal with that annoying tempo drift, though? When RC is master ableton takes a while to find its tempo. I've tried everything. It's as if the RC midi clock is basically just functioning as a constant, and drunk, Tempo Tap.
I had a thought the other day about my rc 30.. kinda searching for tricks with setting a precise BPM, but with the rc30 there's no midi at all.. so, I thought maybe I could set some drum loops up in a DAW, render them out to the format that the RC30 accepts and plays back (can't remember exactly, probably WAV 41,000 if I remember right) and fill a few slots on the pedal with pre-made loops at a pre set tempo.. so like 1st 10 banks could simply be drum loops ranging between 100-200BPM.. that way I could send in audio set at the same BPM on apps like synth one and as long as I trigger them at the right time they should sit nicely. I'm kinda just brainstorming on what I could add at the same time as drum loops is pretty cool but it opens up another few doors for importing patterns also set at a pre set BPM. Just kinda wondering if anyone has tried this and had any luck :)
You could lay down two banks.. so a drum track and a melody or bass line on the other. Interesting.. alongside guitar and whatever else I throw into the rc30 it could really add some depth and a good base to lay down on.. also no iffy loop timing as you just overdub straight away and click in and out whereever you like :) damn.. I'm gonna get it hooked up to the pc and find out.. 84 banks filled now.. guess it's time.
Hello my friend. First of all, congratulations on the content. It is very good to have people like you who are willing to help. I have the following problem: I can separate all the RC300 tracks on my mixer by doing the following: 1. I direct track 1 to SUB and turn the PAN to L; 2. I direct track 2 to SUB and turn the PAN to R; 3. I direct track 3 to MAIN and see PAN to L; 4. I turn my guitar on at input R, and it automatically comes out only at MAIN at output R; With that, I get a separate equalization for each pedal output! The problem in question is THE CLICK! This only gives me an option to TOTALLY map to MAIN or TOTALLY to SUB! Is there any way to make it come out separately tmb? Is there an alternative to hearing a separate click? I say that, because it doesn't work to use an EXTERNAL click (from another program, application or pedal) because you can never sync 100% with the loops, it would have to be the CLICK of the RC 300 itself.
