You talked about folks doing this trail over ad over… I did it six times. Four NOBO, two SOBO! Step gently, a part of my heart still rests on the trail!
My favorite Jupiter quote: "I haven't gone that far--only 33 miles..." Dude--that's more than triple my average hiking day! I love it! You're like Superman when it comes to hiking! Keep up the awesome content!
Congratulations on hitting it so hard. What I don’t hear often on any hiking channel is how awesome the men and women who work their asses off to build and maintain the thousands of miles of trails available to us. I would ask people if you cant volunteer to do trail maintenance please join your local mountain club and send them some cash if you have any to spare. I am a member of local mountain club and i can literally see the improvements they make from year to year. It’s the trail crews that make hikes like this possible and to continue. Again congratulations on some very impressive hiking. I think you look the happiest I have ever seen you, from your video I can see why. Take care.
Jupiter! What you did on this trip is incredible. I've loved watching it and, being from Oregon, this episode specifically made me appreciate the natural beauty of where we live. Proud of you, happy for you, keep going.
it was strange to be so stoked on night hiking through most of the park, but so happy to see it and be there! I hope to go back and do the junior ranger program
Every place and every moment has its magic that added together equates to a life well lived. That unnamable magic is felt in our soul and in the psyche, and it makes us feel alive and vibrant. It is a joy that knows not its origin but makes life worth living. The moment must always be savored, for that alone is eternal. It makes us want to smile, to laugh, to sing and dance. Enjoy!
Absolutely stunning natural surroundings. I can even believe how beautiful this is and how adventurous to feel. So much of this video reminded me that I should have been doing more hiking and adventures as I moved to big capital and forgot my connection with nature. Thank you so much for bringing me back to this. Sending much love :)
Absolutely stunning...& I know the video can’t do that view justice. You gotta see it with your own eyes. Maybe one day I’ll have that chance... All the best from the UK...!
I agree that the area around the mountains in Washington and Oregon are so beautiful you never want to live. I was born here and am still an hour from the Cascades after 50 years, hiking since I was a scout 35 odd years ago. For the snow did you consider microspikes? They are a game changer.
for the oregon section, nothing was steep enough where a fall would be dangerous or spikes be advantageous. so i opted for no and just had fun tromping around in it
I saw Crater Lake in my early twenties. Now in my late sixties I still remember how profoundly beautiful it was. Two thousand…woohoo. Beautiful scenery in this video. Thanks again for all you do.
Oregon was my favorite part because I got to see it from the top of Mt McLaughlin, Mt. Bailey, Mt. Theilson, Mt. Washington and South Sister and those alpine images are etched into my mind permanently. Can't wait to go back and hike the trail again. Love that panning shot of 3 Fingered Jack at the end Jupiter - that's one of my favorite views on the PCT
Watching this one is bringing back memories of the great summer I had hiking Oregon and half of Washington this summer. The snow kicked my ass😂😂😅Thank you
Wow, Jupiter, that's a shit ton of miles both ways. Dude, you don't crush miles, it's like you pulverize them for lack of a better word. You don't seem hurried ever and still managed to see everything you wanted to. This was a beautiful section of trail. Crater Lake is epic and timeless. This scenery was amazing for the entire vlog session here. Thank you for taking the time because I know you all have to go back to the camera a million times a day AND hike, lol.
You really enjoyed Oregon so far! I'm am so happy to see you like my home state, I still find it enchanting. Just like you, I revel having the mountains rising above and the numerous lakes. Yes, the snow generally doesn't clear completely off the PCT Oregon section until the first of July and the tops of Washington hold snow for a similar period. I carry an ice axe and trekking pole in May and usually just the pole in June. I hope you come back someday to enjoy more of our trails.
I worked in Umpqua National Forest last summer, and am doing the PCT starting this April. Jupiter, seeing your clips on Mt Thielsen and Crater Lake almost made me cry with both nostalgia and excitement. It's truly one of the most special places on earth and I can't wait to return as a thru hiker.
Thanks man, you're a great ambassador of this wonderful trail! I did most of California a few years ago, but I can't wait to be able to redo it, but all of it, including Oregon and Washington... And your inspiring comments joined to the magnificence of your videos just keep the fire burning! Cheers from Québec, Canada.
YES! Getting to watch your joy, has been so great! Also good for me to be reminded of that feeling, as I continue to heal. I am proud to say I’m becoming one of those people that are planing to go back to the magic that is the PCT. My friends and family don’t get it (and that’s ok) especially because I broke my leg out there in 2021, every time I tell people about my experience, I say I’d do it again broken leg and all! It’s that unbelievable, that stay with you till the day you die kind of joy.
Sorry to hear about your shoes! I have the same pair I use for Spartan Races,, they’re not very cushioned so I couldn’t imagine doing what you are with them. Hope your feet feel better soon!
Grats on your 13+ k miles! I am less than 200 away from my 10k. I remember hitting 5000 and telling my buddy at camp that I'd hit 5000 trail miles. He patted me on the head and said, "That's cute." haha
I met stitch my first week on trail on hat creek rim! Like you, he was one of the handful of people I ran into multiple times. Hope all is well with y’all thanks for the vids :-)
Those are bear grass blooms, look kind of like something from Dr. Seuss. Pasque Flower looks somewhat similar, but has long hair instead of the tiny flowers.
not really. I added a trekking pole for the sierra, and washington to help with snow stability. And added a bear can for the sierra. Other than that everything stayed the same for the duration
It blew my mind how long it takes to melt snow with body heat, even with my CNOC inside my shirt, under my backpack. I know about latent heat and all that, but goddamn. Hours and barely a trickle.
Everyone please help me decide between the Garmin Inreach mini 2 or the new Inreach messenger? Is the new feature of switching to wifi a big deal for the messenger? Thanks!
I wish I knew! but the inreach is by far the coolest and biggest thing to happen to backpacking in forever. even though other devices have existed with similar capabilities the inreach does it way better than anything ever had before
They are both great. The new InReach Mini 2 uses the same new app that the new Messenger uses and that gives the Mini 2 the ability to use WiFi or cell and select on the fly. The Messenger has a bigger battery for longer use than the Mini 2 (maybe 2x), balance that against a screen for tracking without using the phone app (I got the Mini 2 as a gift this fall).
@@memathews thanks so mych! I went for the mini 2 be ause of the navigation without my phone and the battery is already big enough (I have battery packs)
Im talking about Gasket! Check out a couple videos ago where I introduce him. We hiked all of norcal and oregon together and planned to hike washington together as well. He is attempting a yoyo of the PCT (to do it twice in one season, 5300 miles)
It's an extremely difficult thing to hike this trail twice back to back in a single season. So when someone is successful, it's usually a pretty big deal and the community would be well aware. Especially considering all the other people on the trail at the same time, crossing paths with this person twice, and hearing rumors at the very least. The first guy to ever do it took more than 7 attempts before they were actually successful. A lot of variables with snow and fires or injury
That makes great sense, not that I'll try to do that. Was just very curious. Currently trying to attain the permits, but I wasn't lucky in the first round. Hopefully I'll be luckier in the last round.@@JupiterHikes

incredible, what is your trail name? do you have a specific year that you most fondly look back on?

Glissading is a thrilling gift that Oregon and Washington offer repeatedly! That looked fun!
Jupiter is pure joy on trail! Love your little laughs and giggles. Another great episode! 🌻💛
Yes, Oregon is the best 😀

Oregon is underrated! Amazing landscapes!
Your videos give me a nostalgia for something I never experienced. I cry every time. I hope I'll be there one day.
Athlete! Thanks for taking us along! Inspires me.
I am glad you said it. *ATHLETE*, exactly.
Aloha from the big island! Lava rock trails are cool Massages your feet! Mahalo for your great videos and insight
Crater Lake is magic!!! Made me feel the same way
it was strange to be so stoked on night hiking through most of the park, but so happy to see it and be there! I hope to go back and do the junior ranger program
@@JupiterHikes I’ve never thought about doing those but would be so fun!! There’s also cliff jumping into the lake down one of the trails 👀
You do a really good job of describing the beauty of Oregon state. It’s a wonderful place!

Love how you focus on the trail itself rather than on yourself and your gear. You've got a good eye for capturing nature. Atta boy.
Beautiful landscapes, especially the snow, lava rocks and flowers. That's just iconic 😎👍
Crater lake always brings me to tears. Can't wait to hike through Oregon again in 2024.
The Oregon Cascade mountains sure do have a way of feeling like home

Every video has something new and amazing from the trail. This one was another stunner. I’m so glad you are still appreciating all of it.
Wish I would have know about thru-hiking before I got all serious in life. I'm stuck to Washington weekend warrior hikes.
So beautiful. Thank you.
Wish you got to see all that obsidian under the snow in the 3 sisters. Oregon is pretty cool wilderness
the snow was a lot of fun though! I still would love to come back
I have always loved your videos but this series has jumped to another level of awsome!!
your a beast dude. light is right
Another great episode! Thanks for sharing, Jupiter!

Awesome! Thanks for sharing again!
Congrats on 2,000 miles. Only 650 to go. Thanks always for the amazing views. Your almost there. Be safe.
You seem so happy❤️
40 Miles a Day👏👏👏👏👏
tearful moment

I realize now how you are possibly able to find comfort in a 1/16th inch pad. You like 40 miles a day
I'm glad you loved Oregon but knew you'd run into snow. Some years we're a bit dry but I'm glad to see more snow and some rain this year.
the snow was arduous but a super fun experience overall!! I was happy to see myself getting more and more comfortable on it as I went
👍🐿👍
Happy trails brother.
Why 40 miles each day!thats amazing 😂but we're you a tight schedule?or you're just a fast walker?
At 13:04, what are the white odd-shaped flowers called?
Those are bear grass blooms, look kind of like something from Dr. Seuss. Pasque Flower looks somewhat similar, but has long hair instead of the tiny flowers.
@@memathews Thank you! 🙏🏻 I appreciate your help.
I went to crater lake on a road trip and it was too foggy to see anything the day we were going by. I’ll have to visit again another time
did your gear list change during this trip?
not really. I added a trekking pole for the sierra, and washington to help with snow stability. And added a bear can for the sierra. Other than that everything stayed the same for the duration
The tallest mountain in Washington is 14,400, but as you say, they look really tall from sea level alone with rhe much shorter Cascades.
So when exactly did you start? When did you arrive? How long did it take you in total?
You seem to have put forth some serious pace.
I started may 10th, and spoiler.......................................................................... I finished in 84 days
@@JupiterHikes Outstanding. The most touching for me is how visibly happy you appear all the while. That is really inspiring.

Is the water in the lakes cold? Do you ever go swimming in them?
these lakes yes, but not so bad. Washington however much much colder
When did you hike through Oregon? I'm guessing early July, possibly late June.
I think mid july

How did you find the bugs in OR? My weakness as a hiker is that mosquitos drive me nuts
yeah the mosquitoes were by far the worst in oregon! no where else on this trail compared (for me)
Awesome! Love these videos. How was the SDTCT?
Wet!
@@JupiterHikes Darn. Dry all year here until you start. I can’t wait for the videos of you filmed it. I completed the first half in December.
