    when i use superview while using a 52mm nd filter on the 52mm adapter, i get a small glimpse of the filter on the top left and top right of the video. is there any way to avoid this ?

    • @JordanHetrick
      @JordanHetrick  2 роки тому

      Hi jfrides,
      Yeah, that does happen sometimes with the filters, especially when you have such a wide FOV like in SuperView. The only fix for this is to choose a narrower lens, or zoom in slightly when you edit to crop out the area where the filter is visible.

    Thanks for the video! Just wanted to add that I purchased the Xclear lens cover and am currently being scammed. Company took my money, hasn't shipped anything and they don't respond to any form of contact. I'd look elsewhere if you need hydrophobic lens covers for the Hero 8

  • @SkillipEvolver
    @SkillipEvolver 4 роки тому

    Hi there, great video! The demonstration is these bits for be really sold them to me. I also bought some PolarPro NDs but I'm interested in the hydrophobic lens cover too.
    I have a question about the interoperability of these different products.
    I was wondering.. do you know if it's possible to keep that xclear lens cover on permanently.. and.then add and remove the PolarProND equipment? (Same question for the Ulanzi polariser+ring as well),
    as it would be convenient not to have to remove the xclear (ever) in an ideal world.
    Basically even though it's probably only thin (xclear), I'm wondering if it would obstruct anything going on top of it?
    Many thanks.
    And what part of the world are you btw? Looks beautiful

    • @JordanHetrick
      @JordanHetrick  4 роки тому

      Hi, yes the Xclear is so thin that it doesn't affect other filters such as the ND filters, macro lens or Ulanzi adapter ring.
      Just be careful if you are using other 3rd party SuperSuits. Some of them are made with really cheap plastic and fit really tight. I had the latching clip break on one of them, but I'm not totally sure if it was from the extra dimension of the Xclear or if it was just a faulty part. It's so thin that I doubt it was from the Xclear, but I just wouldn't want that to happen to you.
      I'm in Maui which I love, even though it's a strange time right now.

    So far, I know I can plug my GoPro direclty so it doesn't need changing the battery, but what about getting the pictures??? I know can access to the content wirelessly, but is there a way to connect the camera to a cloud and upload the pictures automatically? Since GoPro introduced its EIS, I've noticed a fair bit of chat about ND filters not playing well whilst using the 180 rule (due to the slower frame rates) and hypersmooth. I've just moved onto the 8 and was looking into getting some filters for it but am hesitant on splashing out near on a £100 just to find that, instead of improving how the video looks, they actually cause jittery footage. Any thoughts?
    Also... The light Mod. £50 (61USD) seems like a lot to pay for a waterproof LED. Do you have any cheaper recommendations?

    • @JordanHetrick
      @JordanHetrick  4 роки тому +1

      Hi Dave D,
      Yes, it's definitely true that EIS doesn't do well in low light situations. ND filters do still work with the stabilization in bright light because the shutter speed is still fast enough for effective EIS, but you only want to use them in full light to reduce fast shutter speeds. It's mostly the ND8 or ND16 you will end up using. The ND32 still does come in handy for long exposure night photos, if you are into taking those. The PolarPro set is pricey, but I still find that it's worthwhile for bright scenes when you want to slow the shutter speed down.
      As far as a cheaper alternative to the Light Mod, there are quite a few knockoffs on Amazon you could check out that are about half the price. I primarily use LumeCubes or the GoPro Light Mod, but you may want to check out the Suptig lights for a cheaper version.

    • @Dave_D
      @Dave_D 4 роки тому

      HowToUsePOVcameras Cheers for that. Tbh, I might just try some cheaper filters first and see how I go. Living in the NE of Scotland, we don’t get that many really sunny days (I think our summer last year was on a Tuesday...) but the highlands are only a short drive away for beautiful night skies 👍
      And thanks for the light tips. Plenty of time to do some research at the mo and get up to speed with the 8. Can you recommend any useful books on it? (Only joking. Am waiting for Amazon to deliver your book as I speak lol)

    Just finished reconstruction of my 1965 AC Cobra and want to share my canyon trips with relatives, using my GoPro8. A major part of sharing is the sound of the car. In my current state of technology, I haven't been able to capture the sound and eliminate the wind noise. I purchased some sound filters that fit inside the case but haven't tried them yet. Do you have any suggestions so I might try several things on one trip rather than one at a time ?

    • @JordanHetrick
      @JordanHetrick  4 роки тому

      Hi Richard,
      Yes, wind noise is one of the hardest audio problems to deal with. I live in Maui, which is one of the windiest places on Earth so I have to opportunity to work with a lot of wind noise. 🌬If you let me know where you are planning to mount your camera, I can offer you some solutions. Are you using the Media Mod or an external mic, or just the in-camera mic?

    • @richardgreen7811
      @richardgreen7811 4 роки тому

      @@JordanHetrick 1st ... thanks for responding. Camera is mounted just off my right shoulder, 1/2 way up the roll bar, but below the level of the windscreen. I thought that might offer some relief, but no. The mount provides a great POV for the viewer, as though they were driving the car. So far, I've just been using the in-camera mic. I've pondered getting an external mic and mounting it on the floor. That would probably resolve the wind noise, but I don't know if the appropriate sound will come through. The sound is spectacular ... 648 Old School Horse Power. You can hear it, and "feel" it, without being obnoxious. I'm trying to convey that emotional fervor, just like being on a Harley.

    • @JordanHetrick
      @JordanHetrick  4 роки тому

      @@richardgreen7811 You're welcome! Yeah, I bet that sounds impressive! Recording that audio correctly is very important. The best option is to mount your camera somewhere blocked from the wind, but it sounds like you've tried to do that. The next best option would be to use an external mic (either wireless with the Wireless GO or wired with a longer cable) and place it somewhere more protected, like you said. I'm sure that would work for you. The third option is to use a "dead cat" (one of those furry grey things) on an external mic to break the wind noise. Those work pretty well to reduce the wind noise. The Rode Video Micro comes with a dead cat. Or you can buy one separate if you go with a different mic.
      Also, you might want to adjust the bass in your editing app after you film to try to get match the real thing.
      I hope that helps and you are able to get the audio you are envisioning.
