Lantern Control, one of my favorite modern decks. Such an amazing brew. That being said, Braden showed his inexperience in the matchup in both games. The best counter to the lock is to get multiple fetch lands in play and then cast a Serum Visions, or maybe even Snapcaster, hold priority, and remand your own snapcaster, in response to an activation of Shredder/Bell. Just drawing one card at a time gives the Lantern player all of the choice of what you get. Also, I think Sam's final Pithing Needle named Abandon Hope.
He was too rash with his bolts too. If he kept one he would have got an extra snap caster at 17:20 if he remanded his own bolt. just always keep a red mana up to cast the bolt so that it doesn't get surgicaled out of hand and then keeping one is usually worth. Remanding snapcasters tends to be more mana intensive.
Small misstep at the 42:00 mark, Braden taps two red mana and casts Lightning bolt, taps another red and casts bolt, taps 2 more in response to IoK to cast Snapcaster. He has a red mana floating and could have cast a third bolt.
I think it's more likely it was a bluff. No matter what because of the surgical he wasn't getting a card from graveyard cast. So he tried to bluff to get him to main phase the surgical to get the the snapcaster out but Sam went to second main phase to prevent that move.
At one point he was at 6 mana so he could have casted a snapcaster targeting the wear and tear and when sam would have responed with surgical he could have played the second snap resolving the wear tear to destroy the bridge and fizzle the surgical
When an effect lets you draw multiple cards, you reveal them all individually so you would reveal all the cards you draw to painful truths. However, if an effect like Ancient Stirrings which lets you look at the top five then you only show the top card (and any card you decide to keep).
I played against Lanturn at an FNM. I realize apples to oranges, but I played Jeakai Nahiri as well. Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but I sideboard heavy for Affinity marchups. Thus, I had a lot of artifact hate and won. Is this a bad matchup for Jeskai?

Did Sam REALLY not board in grafdiggers cage against Jeskai Nahiri? Or did my eyes deceive me?
If a player plays Painful Truths while a lantern is out, do they have to reveal all the cards that they draw?
As far as I understand, he only has to reveal the first of the drawn cards, as its the "only" top card when Truths resolves

solotopp yes but as the card has already resolved you cannot respond to one of the draws to mill
