Other videos are 10 and 20 minutes of twisted trails of confusion. The person who introduced it to me said it took him months to learn it. This isn't anything like Travis picking - it's just forward picking, there's no syncopation - and it's the 4th video I've watched that have no clue - rubbish! The worrying thing is the comments are always so glowing - from people who are learning the wrong thing...
There are hundreds of videos on UA-cam using the generic label "Travis-Picking" which is a complete joke; Elizabeth Cotten (and a host of other Folk/Blues players) played finger style (inc alt-bass/treble picking) long before Merle Travis. Also Merle Travis only ever used one finger, so it's ludicrous to refer to finger style/fingerpicking as "Travis Picking" - how did the myth ever get started I wonder?
There are multiple variations (patterns) and her tutorial is basic to get starters used to a pattern to grow the more substancial .. Next she would instruct the double pluck .. I learned it same method.. Much less confusing.

I think Into Dust by Mazzy Star is based in Travis Picking. It even sounds like the same chords (with some others in the progression).

Check out "Never Going Back Again" by Fleetwood Mac. It really ups the difficulty from this video which teaches the most basic version.
