Great review. Just saw it for the second time ever myself too. I recall that after the first time I saw it I was like “this is a horror movie” and no different this time. Now that I’m over 10 years older I feel the horror even worse too. I also have been a huge solondz fan since happiness, but to me he is mostly a certain type of black comedy in his other movies. I think I might like dark horse the best of them all, even tho it’s funny in a different way. I had forgotten that it really leans into Michael Scott/David Brent from the office levels of cringe for the main character…Yr so right in dark horse it’s all basically his own fault it’s not a universe conspiring movie. Criminally underated movie so glad someone had a good analysis up mark kemode’s was just ok lol
Nice review! I love this film and am fascinated by it and pretty much agree with all of your finer points! Good to hear someone articulate what makes it unique, and super sad...
@@auteurdeluxe8552 Sad and"horrifying" is what gives it its artistic power, is what it's about, along with a humor so dark it practically ceases to be humor at all, indistinguishable or at-one with the horror and darkness itself....
Great video. People don’t want to hear it, but you’re supposed to grow up, to leave youth behind and be an adult. The dread of the office is not the end of the world that media makes us believe, but the beginning of a whole new life with its own joys and worries.
"Supposed to" according to whom? You are "supposed to" live your life however you want. What if I don't get a office job? Did I still grow up? What if I live off of an inheritance? Will I never have grown up and, therefore, didn't do what I was "supposed" to do?

Thank you! I wish this one wasn’t so under-seen. Everyone I know that’s seen it is horrified. I was too initially.
