@@emberthefox4951from what I’ve heard it’s more of a 50/50. It can be effective, but it won’t work as consistently compared to the other star swings in that game like Birdo’s or DK’s

There is one occasion with Yoshi’s star swing where I used Hammer Bro’s super dive multiple times - it was quick enough to make a play on the bobble a few times in a row and I hauled in the catch. Could be worth testing
I was searching for this exact video about a month ago, since I play this game with my friends a lot, but there was nothing, so I'm glad to see it has finally arrived. You know your audience. Could you guys consider making a video on the star swings of non-captain characters, their angles, usefulness, velocity, etc? I would love that.
I actually meant to talk about how to counter the non-captain Star swings in this video and I completely forgot!! There’s a lot to talk about with them so we may make a video on them soon. They’re very powerful.

There's a reason Yoshi has always been my captain. That, and primarily because he's literally the only character I ever pick in Mario spinoffs.
Yoshi's is...weird. Usually it works fine but I've seen an exception.
While doing a stupid challenge of doing all miis and yoshi against a bunch of star power hitters I noticed something with Yoshi's special. Sometimes - no, more often than not - When any Kritter did a jumping catch on the egg, the game would register the ball as caught without doing the second bounce. The audio made it seem like the egg bounced in his glove and still caught it. If you wanna experiment with it, I would do this:
Yoshi at bat, K rool pitching, and all 4 kritters on 1st, 3rd, left outfield, and right outfield. Use Yoshi's star hit and see if it ever happens.
Interesting, I’ve heard that jump catches work but never tried it myself
You can buddy jump Bowser Jr’s star swing. I’ve actually done this before!

You can catch Yoshi's star swing easily by using a special catch with birdo, hammer bro (and alts), or magikoopa. Last time a played, I caught it with perfectly hammer bro, fire bro, and magikoopa while using a bowser team. All you have to do is spam A.
These will make the games so much more interesting!
Kritter’s Keeper Catch is such a dirty move and I love using it to get cheap outs!

Also I was watching quak’s stream and sometimes cpus just walk through the paint to get the ball. I don’t know why
There’s some shenanigans where if one player gets hit, the hitbox disappears and another fielder can enter the paint. Haven’t tested it much but it’s definitely possible

I've had level 4 cpu catch yoshi star swing simply by jumping, I really don't know how they did it they just jumped and caught it

Dang. I’ve seen it caught by all sorts of super dives. Tongues, wands, hammers, boomerangs, fireballs, Birdo’s mouf, but not a jump. How does one time that?
