When he dies.. we see him wheeled down to the morgue. Pam is in the hallway. She sees him. She spills her guts on how much she loves him. They wheel away. Pam sits in a chair to gather herself. She watches Bobby wheeled into the elevator. As the door slowly closes, she sees his body move... roll credits. This would have worked two ways. If Duffy never wanted to return then Pam was delusional. Since Duffy did return he would later explain his death to the audience it was faked due to events we would have seen earlier in the season of a witness to a mob hit and in order to testify, Bobby had to fake his death. No dream season. Bam... the season finale to the next season would be instead of the shower was Pam being kidnapped by a mysterious stranger. Pulls off his disguise and it's Bobby explaining everything... Pamela cries and hugs him. Then slaps his face.. bam.
Sal Paradise Isn't season 10 the explanation for your question? They would eventually be back together again sooner or later. They reunited in S8, Bobby dies in S9, it's a dream and they marry after all, in S10
I don't see why JR and Katherine don't get together cause they'd make such a lovely couple cause they're both snakes who like to hurt people but the difference being JR's no killer he just likes to make trouble, make odal threats or if he can buy people off by giving them money but Katherine is another story she's actually tried to kill Bobby cause she couldn't have him, she figured if she couldn't have him all to herself then nobody would so she tried to kill him not once but twice. I'm sure everybody who watches Dallas remembers the season final of season 7 when Bobby got shot in JR's office and how about the season final of 8 when Bobby got struck down by a car driven by none other but Katherine and while Katherine died at the scene, Bobby did live for a while longer but did die at the hospital surrounded by all his loved ones even his ex-wife Pam but anyway in some ways Katherine and JR are the same but in other ways they're different, they're both snakes but only one of them has the killer instant and that's Katherine now grant you she hasn't actually killed anyone but she at least made an attempt and that's bad enough, bad enough where she was wanted for an attempted murder on Bobby she might not have killed him but she blinded him for a while and she could have killed him so Katherine's more the murderer type than JR is but I guess if JR had to to defend himself or was ever pinned to a wall he could or would kill somebody but only if he had to but I see JR as more the making idol threats of making trouble for somebody or if he can, pay them off, JR isn't the killer type unless he had to but even then I doubt he would even go through with it but then who knows what they'd do if backed into a corner.
I think Pam has every reason in the world to dislike JR because of the way he does her but what's JR's excuse for not liking Pam, nothing except she's a Barnes but technically she's not a Barnes or at least not Digger's daughter but I think it matters one way or another with JR cause look how he treats his other brother, Gary and he don't exactly treat Bobby too fairly but he does do Bobby better than he does Gary but there are times where Bobby butts heads with JR but I think a lot of the time it's because JR is always up to something dirty but of course when is he not up to something dirty and of course it makes Bobby mad when his brother is always trying to break up his marriage to Pam but Pam don't help matters much by packing her bags and leaving Bobby and her home on Southfork when the going gets tough the weak take off, instant of sticking it out and staying and fighting wicked JR that's how come it to be that Jock and Miss Ellie practically raised Lucy because Gary and Valene who were Lucy's parents were weak and allowed themselves to be practically forced off Southfork, well more so Valene was forced off Southfork than Gary cause Southfork was his home but he was too weak to stick it out and stay so he left because of his older brother JR and his father Jock but Valene because she was only Gary's wife she was forced off but had to leave baby Lucy as Jock said in one episode, the Ewings were so used to having things their way for so long that it just got in the way of them being people or something like that but with JR, I think because he was their first born they let him have his own way and spoiled him rotten which is a mistake all parents make with all first born children whether they're boys or girls it don't matter and it didn't help when Jock made JR president of Ewing Oil cause that gave JR power to abuse and a company to use against others like Cliff Barnes to also get him what he wants.

Jock Ewing and Digger met in an empty cattle car and met up with Jock’s brother, Jason. Then, they started hitting oil based on Digger’s ability to find oil. When Jock and Digger returned to Dallas, Jock throws out all of Digger’s whiskey to keep him from blowing it with Miss Ellie. The next morning, Digger is angry and literally sells all his leases to get more whiskey. Then Jock makes good on what he said to Digger: “If you mess it up (with Miss Ellie), she’s mine.” Miss Ellie gets pregnant with JR and Jock is nasty about it at first, but comes around - his money saves the ranch. It cuts to a barbecue in the 1950s where Digger tries to shoot Jock after finding out a piece of land he literally just sold to Ellie’s father has oil on it. Bobby and Pam already love playing together as preschoolers. JR is seducing girls in the barn as a teenager (shocker!). In the original series and reboot, Cliff never comprehends that his dad chose alcohol over what could have been millions of dollars thinking Jock stole it. But really, Digger sold out for liquor. JR has a resentment towards the Barnes family because Digger tried to kill his father at a barbecue. Cliff thinks half of Ewing Oil should be his.
Jack the man: I kind of liked her until she started messing around in the oil business. I hated the way she destroyed her nice straight hair and her beauty.
Dallas was the best. Great memories of my childhood.
Nobody could top 'Dallas' for these kinds of chilling scenes, JR was just arctic deep freeze cold here in his talk with Pam.
