- Опубліковано 26 вер 2024
- Today we're breaking down our Early Access’ cinematic ambitions, and showing how we're introducing more interactivity through Twitch integration and Stadia Crowd Choice. A huge leap from Divinity: Original Sin’s rock-paper-scissors multiplayer interactions, Baldur’s Gate 3 features 1.5 million words, with fully cinematic dialogues.
Using a mix of performance capture, and bespoke adaptive cameras, the game is able to react to whoever you are, and whatever you do, both in multiplayer or single player. With the addition of streaming integration, even viewers who may not own the game now have a say in your journey.
Baldur's Gate 3 Early Access launches on September 30th to Steam and Stadia.

Larian studios is the company that reminds me of how game companies were back then, they are filled to the brim with love and passion to what they do without having any shitty business practices and they know what RPG fans want, they are the perfect people to carry the legacy of a legendary franchise like Baldurs gate.
Bungie flashbacks hitting hard ;)
And Bioware :
Yeah, Swen is visionary :) And their whole journey is amazing, they always made great games with soul, but they always felt rushed or unfinished/unpolished, usually (I assume) because of monetary reason or because of publisher timeline pressure... And then, when all looked grim and nearly lost, here came Kickstarter. And finally they had all the time they needed with financial pillow to follow their whole vision, and immediate success was result of that with DOS1 :)
Even if all other kickstarter projects just failed, I will 4ever be grateful for rise of Larian studios :)
They're the only company that could do it these days
Nailed it. BG3 is in very good hands of good folks that respect and care about this franchise.
I love you guys. You're everything a developer should be... passionate, actually make games instead of monetisation vehicles, funny, fair, open, work with fans during development. My favourite developer.
Imagine a world without Larian and CDPR
@@blackwingsinthecold8889 Imagine a world with nothing but studios like Larian and CDPR
Blizzard used to be like that until they got too big. If you grow too large, the suits take over and you only work for the numbers.
@@VinceValentine Though you have to admit they still make badass cinematics

Alright you gotta chill you guys are basically becoming my favorite game studio. Loving the communication, the passion emanating from these videos. Keep it up. I'm SO hyped for Baldur's Gate 3.
>becoming
@Oh Hello I think he misspelled Cyberpunk 2077
Why chill tho
@Oh Hello my dear boy...Baldur's Gate is one of the most famouse game RPG of all time ... the most played and loved games situated in the forgottem Realms based on the most Pnp game of all time Dungeons and Dragons, if you are interested in the saga I suggest you play the first 2 (BG1-2), but I really do, the first BGs are completely different and the story has nothing to do with 3 which will be completely new (but as already said several times by Larian it seems there are references to those games in 3), the first 2, however, you can easily retrieve them on steam or mobile devices for a few euros if you are interested in discovering the universe and the magic.
Between Larian, CD Projekt Red and Obsidian, the future of RPGs is bright.
Hearing that dumb music, seeing Swen's wonderful face and people of Larian again makes my day everytime.
His name's still Swen tho, not Sven.
Yea, imagine working for larian.
It looks like its the best thing in the world.
also because their games is just amazing.
D:OS3 is looking good.
@@Rogue_Six the W or V doesn't matter we love him and the whole larian team.
@@RyeinGoddard How is this D:OS 3?
This studio is quickly rising to be my favorite game developers. So excited for BG3!
It's already my favorite by far. I don't think any other company can hold a candle to them.
I agree. Larian studios, CDPR and Obsidian are showing other developers how its done
@@bluemoon1716 Obsidian is my second favorite
They are what Bioware was in the late 90's. Hopefully they will keep making good product and not lose the inner child.
Same, I can’t wait to stream this or play multiple player
Something that was missed dearly in Divinity 2. The ability to oppose other players choices in game. Glad to see it returning.
What does this mean for Singleplayer? Does this mean your companion can oppose what you do?
@@utisti4976 In DOS1 multiplayer you could oppose your allies dialouge, and argue. In single player you could set your partners a.i to agree with certain types of choices, or always agree with you, or always argue against you among other settings.
@@utisti4976 my guess is that some companions could oppose you depending on how your choices relate to their D&D alignment
Idk i saw four people going at each other's throats after playing together for two days, there was plenty opposition
@@BobTheShadowAndroid No, he means Divinity Original Sin 2, as 1 did in fact have the ability to opose the other player, and most people just call these games Divinity to make it easier as esentially no one talks about the original Divinity games.
I just love D&D, Baldur's Gate and Larian Studios. Fun fact: Swen has 20 points of charisma.
30. He has the right magic items.
Swen, not Sven. Dammit.
@@tarrasquescroll9385 This explains a lot. \o/
@@Rogue_Six My fault, I did search how his name is spelled, the problem was did it in the comments section, the first mention of him that I found was written Sven, I should searched it in google. :(
Casts glibness before any public appearance
Sven is an international treasure, and we should let no harm come to this man.
Anyone else watching every single video as soon as you find out.
Watching videos, reading steam updates, watching live streams , refreshing twitter for new tweets.. Man I'm so hyped for this game😂
@@Gagandeep4121 Twitter! Thank you
Same here.
I'm so hyped is this really happening this is so great
Calm down your hype. They just want to sell you Divinity 3 with simple poor mechanics
@@MrLeyt1125 God, people like you are not needed here. Stop pandering.
@@adnansaleem6167 Listen here, you little kid. I played every BG, since 1999 when my father gifted me 5 CD BG1 on my 15th bithday. I completed BG1,BG SoA,BG ToB,BG SoD, IwD 1 and 2 on 100% content. Im big fan of BG. And all I see here is that Larian trying to do cheap clone of Divinity Original Sin with base turned combat instead of active pause, and its stingy magic system. I dont want them to ruin my favorite series. And I dont care about opinion of random overhyped clowns who have low expectations and gets hyped on every promoter word

We can see a thin scar under the eye of Shadowheart now. So much more details than before. Can't wait to play this game!
I love Shadowheart :)
I remember when i was a little boy, sitting on my fathers lap while he played baldurs gate two. I Still have the original disk beside me, and just looking at it brings back so many memories of joy and awe, when the passion of gdrs, and videogames in general, was "Passed" onto me by the amazing adventures my dad shared with me. Now he is old and tired, games require too much reflexes and always less strategy and he looks back at those times with a lot of nostalgia. Can't wait to buy him Baldur's 3 when it's out of early access...and maybe we'll even play it together, who knows. This vidoc just made my day, i'm going to have a huge freaking smile on my face thanks to you. Keep up the good work, Larian Studios! We'll be waiting patiently ;)
That's a wonderful story, so beautiful. Please play this adventure with your dad.
I'm playing with my daughter and she's having a blast
"You can steal from your friends."
Kender confirmed.
@The Moonquisition "It's a good thing I was here to find all the things you keep dropping!"
Larian Studios and CD Projek Red are hands down what game dev companies should be. I'm 100% playing the beta to show my support.
Saberator when’s the beta
I would say include fromsoft in there but those guys haven’t uploaded a single piece of Elden ring news, making them this years biggest loser
CD Project Red overwork their employees and underpay them...
Whipped
Until you hear about how they treat their employees and inflict them with crunch time. It's one thing to be open to the community, it's another to do shitty things in the back. Nobody likes to be sleep deprived and it's sad that even Sven commits this sin upon himself.
Larian Studios sadly does use crunch as a means to push late content or bugfixes before the announced release date. They did this with Dragon Commander as Sven stated on his blog back in 2013. Hopefully the studio learned from their mistakes as they grew independent from publishers.
Every time i see/hear something new about this game it's just keeps getting better and better. Cannot wait to see the the final version.
I love the passion here. This game will be everything
Same here. Their passion is awesome!
I'm so unbelievably hyped for the Early Access it's not even funny anymore.
SAME It hurts knowing it's so close but so far, just a couple more days (more than a couple but shhh) ;-;
Might honestly have to pay for half of my brothers pc JUST so I can have early access. I would normally just wait for the full console release because early access is normally wacked but THESE GUYS? These guys and fromsoft have nothing but trust from me
I just found out that my RX570 GPU and Ryzen 3 CPU is gonna run it fine... I'm silly happy about that. Can't wait for 30th...
@dianna k I'm literally gonna buy it with the money I was saving for a psu+gpu, but that can wait
Waiting for this game makes me physically ill, fucking hell
Your Studio is amongst a very rare selection of developers I would trust to join into early access to begin with. I'd argue that trust from your fans is one of your most valuable ressources. Besides talent, of course. Keep it up, you're doing great work!
My heart goes out to everyone at Larian studios you're all a shining example of what a game studio should look like. I don't usually buy early access games but I trust you all so much to give a great experience!
"Give control of your dialogue choices to your audience" Trolling season begins!
Well that was a missed opportunity for “Sven years later”... I am incredibly excited for this game though, all the best.
No...
That's one thing I love about you guys.
You can literally see the Passion radiating from you all. I love it.
Definitely one of the best Devs in the business.
Larian is one of the most humble and passionate game developer out there. Love them :D
Asking full price for halfway product??? .. ..eeeeeh no thxs
@Illuminlast _ I know for sure that this model could work for them.. .because tehy are such a good studio.. i trust them.. .what i dont trust its that the sale model will become a standard for shiti companies.. .peace out
I swear to god we need a “making of/behind the scenes” documentary for this masterpiece
CD Projekt Red and now Larian Studio are the new era of my favorite studios
People may say that CDPR is the best game studio, but goddam Larian is a super close contender and way more entertaining as a studio
Larian is CDPR ten years ago.
You guys are really doing this franchise justice. I love your passion! That's the way game development should be!
Name me any game director that is as lovable and iconic as Swen
Todd Howard? He just works!
Todd "The "The Godd" Toddler" Howard
Hideo Kojima, hands down
Ben brode formerly from hearthstone, he is a very lovable person.
@@martinvranovsky7085 that liar ? nope
Through out my life I have played over 2000 hours of BG and BG2 combined. The way this is looking bg3 might eventually catch up to them. Every one at Larian Studios, thank you.
watching thru all these videos while playing baldur's gate 3 just after launch. i remember back when divinity original sin first released being completely in awe of the refinements and expansions larian added to their crpgs. that stuff is still incredible but jesus baldur's gate 3 feels like it descended from the stars in a pillar of light, it's the first game i've played in a long time that routinely shows me things i never could have imagined working in an rpg with this level of scale and detail. and good god the writing, the gameplay, the roleplay... it feels like larian studios is from a different timeline where crpgs as a genre remained popular and continued evolving through the 2000s. congrats to all of yall, larian is completely insane and have deserved this level of recognition and acclaim for years and years already
2:14 this is what coding actually looks like
agree, it just works
@Illuminlast _ If you have not gotten started programming yet, then try TIS-100 from Zachtronics: if that is not fun for you, then you might not like coding; alternatively, start learning Python and try The Python Challenge. The former gives you a good idea of the structural challenges with a simulated low-level programming system, whilst the latter has you developing algorithms in a high-level language.
I just want to say, I barely just got into divinity 2 a week ago and I'm absolutely obsessed with it. The level of freedom on how you want to embark on your adventure and see it through just amazes me. Baldurs gate 3 is looking like it's going to take it to the next level and I'm so damn excited to play it. Thanks for the passion and love put into these games, it's hard to come by now a days in the gaming industry.
The icon on the bottom left. Have they confirmed whether we will be able to switch character control in conversations (when playing co-op)? That was always a gripe of mine in DoS2 - getting locked into a conversation with the wrong character and missing special origin character dialogue.
But it allowed you to do things like pickpocket who they're talking to with another character more easily
It's just incredibly heartwarming to experience the love for their work through this great nerdy storytelling in their game updates.
I really wish there to be an option to switch between characters in the middle of conversation. Because you rarely know what is going to happen in a conversation and it is unclear which character you should use in it. For example, you are playing a friendly character and your friend plays a brute. You start a conversation, which then goes a bit sideways and you need to threaten the npc. So, if your friend is closeby, there is an option for your friend to interfere and continue the conversation. When travelling with a companion, the option to choose who will tell each replic in conversation seems logical. Don't know if it is implementable, though)
Anyway, big fan of you and your games!=)
That was possible in Divinity: Original Sin 2, so it might still be a thing here.
it was possible? are you sure that was not the result of mods?
@@darkening1093 Rereading their comment, I think not. I thought they meant intervening in the conversation by placing themselves into advantageous combat positions. Not by directly butting into the conversation.
Yeah, didn't like that in divinity 2. if the character that I was controlling got into a conversation by simply walking into a npc line of sight I had to quick load, and it happened a lot during my playthrough. It would be a nice addition, not a essential one, but it would surely improve the quality of life
Wasteland 3 has a system close to what you describe, though as a squad based game through and through it considers the skills of all the people in the squad and automatically uses the highest available value. For the multiplayer each of the two players in the session gets to assign characters to their squad, up to the limit of 6 active members between them at any time. Each group can then do whatever, and both get to participate in the dialogue if they are present.
Vampires, so cool! Looking forward to dive into this game and to see what the world have to offer. And the feeding mechanic as a vampire was awsome!
Larian you are one of the best studios!
Keep up the good work!
Looking forward to BG3.
I've spend 250+ hours in Divinity OS 1/2 multiplayer with my friends, and I'm absolutely sure that BG3 will be even better!

Can we just take a moment to admire the awesome animation, like the face of the girl as she was getting bitten by the vampire.
I love the close ups for cinematic dialogues. It definitely makes things feel a bit more personal.
PS: This is going to be fun to play with my brother since we always roleplay diametrically opposed characters in RPG's like Divinity.
Have fun with your brother
I wish *I* were your brother haha
Larian Studios approach to building community confidence and appreciation through these update series is a brilliant way you've guys done calming the anticipation. Love the PR!

The production, the humour, the passion, that's just lovely. Plenty of studios should learn from Larian Studios. Not only they hype the game, but they also bring us together in not only enjoying their games but also the people who makes it!
It would be nice to have those graphs like in Catherine that show what most people around the world chose after you make your own choice!
I'd prefer to see them after the choice has been made, you don't want that to influence your choices
Save scumming. This will be the result.
Everytime I watch an Update from Larian Studios ....there is a NEW FEATURE ON THE GAME! you guys, are unbelievable!
I'm a simple man. I see Larian, I click like and cry out of happiness while watching the video.
I don't think I've ever been more excited for a game's release date, let alone an early access game's release date. D&D, forgotten realms, RPGs/CRPGs, have been a central component to my life and identity, and I think that Larian studios is going to pay the utmost respect to this fantasy legacy. So incredibly excited and thank you guys for all your hard work!
I’m more excited for this then Cyberpunk.
These guys, embody everything a company should be with video games. Fun, and communicative, yet downright amazing

Not trying to ask for too much here, but could you release videos like this hourly until release? Thanks in advance :)
underapreciated comment
I mean they could just release 1 second of every video hourly until release but I don't think that's what you want.
I think it's more reasonable to ask for a 24/7 livestream in Swen's basement

BG 1, BG 2, Planescape Torment, IWD 1&2... I'm really looking forward to this, you guys did such a great job with DOS.
At this point anything larian makes I am sold on
Larian is the best game studio out there. They have the creative minds combined with self awareness, if things do go wrong sometimes. They always manage to tell ppl upfront, that there might be Delays/Bugs/Unfinished Parts or whatever, in a way, they set realistic expectations. This combined with a very unique marketing strategy (which really reaches their fans), makes them just so sympathetic.
Larian ist not just a company. They are ppl with funny entertaining stories in and outside of games. :)
