Jordan was averaging 39.8ppg in 12 games against Detroit, before they instituted "The Jordan Rules." Which basically, was just to mug him any time he got in the paint. In the playoffs during Detroit's back to back championships, the Pistons were 22-2 in the playoffs against all the teams NOT named Chicago Bulls...against the Bulls, they were 8-5 in those championship runs. People act like the Bulls just came on the scene in 1991...but they were in the mix as early as 1989. 1990 was there first true championship contender season though. They took Detroit to Game 7, but Pippen buckled under the pressure and gave us "The Migraine Game", that rendered him useless on the court. Pippen was 1 for 10 from the field, and scored just 2 points. The whole team shot like trash, Jordan was the only one who showed up. Jordan had 31 points on 13 for 27, 9 assists and 8 rebounds. Minus Jordan, the Chicago Bull made just 15 of 63 FGs, for an awful 23.8%FG. There's a little history lesson for you. I started watching the Bulls in 1986, and watched as many games as possible. Jordan in the 1980's was an absolute beast.

Dude NOW you finally get it! JORDAN was doing all of this BEFORE Ja Morant, Kyrie Irving, Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, Allen Iverson, James Harden and the list goes on!!! THAT'S one of the things that makes him the GOAT. Players today are doing things we have already seen MJ doing. We don't Hate Lebron and we are not saying we don't want him to be the GOAT, we are saying as of now, what we saw in the NBA when MJ was playing, we have not seen it since from another player... People wanted to watch MJ because he made tough baskets on a regular basis.
He made the game look easy.
That's why the NBA had to change RULES drastically to make players look like they can score like Mike.
They made SCORINg easy by almost eliminating physical defense
Jordan was known for his acrobatic shots and serving facials on 7 footers.
MJ and Dennis Rodman have the same approach when it comes to the game of basketball.
    They were both borderline psychos.

MJ would not need the 3pt shot in this era. MJ once scored 3,041 total points in a season, while hitting only "12," 3-pt shots! His average was 37.1 points a game that year. However, James Harden is the only player since MJ to scored near that 3,041 mark with 2,818 points but he did it with '378,' 3-pt shots. With the open spacing and lack of defense of today's NBA, Michael would have his way!

    • @BazookaIke
      @BazookaIke Рік тому

@@krwnsy in most seasons, MJ shot about 1 three pointer per game or less. Those are the seasons where his 3 point percentage suffered. When you look at the 4 seasons where he was shooting about three 3 pointers or more per game, his 3 point percentage was: 37.6, 35.2, 42.7 and 37.4%. So yeah...anyone who says MJ couldn't shoot from three is not being truthful. He could shoot from deep and do so at a pretty good rate. He just chose not to for the most part.
BTW...Lebron's has a career 34.4% from three. Kobe's is 32.9%. Those 2 spent most or all of their careers shooting at least 3 three pointers per game. They used it as a weapon. MJ didn't, except for those 4 seasons.

One thing I'll always say, I wish this generation could've watch Jordan games live, and known what it was like to see a kid in school with Jordan's on. When I was in school, 2 or 3 people had Jordan's because they were hard to get. You might get to the store on the day they release, and they would be sold out. Then you drive 2 hours to another mall, and they were sold out. No internet to buy stuff instantly. Watching Jordan games live was always intense, it was always a fight because everyone wanted to beat him. You could almost tangibly feel their desire to win, but Jordan's was always greater. Not only the way he played, but how he pushed his team to play harder.

One thing people can do (if possible) is, check out the NBA a few years before Jordan got there (the top teams, stars, stats, conferences, playing styles etc.) then look at Jordan's development up until he transformed from the battles with The Bad Boys. Checking out things like that puts a lot of things in context. Also, you can check out the careers of the other stars in the league, see who Jordan was going against (how good they were, the obstacles he had to face while playing 80+ games every year). Context IS Huge.

I was born in 1978, so I know a lot about MJ. To explain how he plays basketball is very similar to Ja & Kyrie with their crazy dunks, finger rolls and lay-ups. He also possesses the mid-range game similar to Kevin Durant. The "Bad Boy Pistons" had no other choice but to make some sort of an adjustment to guard or hammer Michael Jordan every time he had the ball close to the net or in the paint. I always thought, this is NBA Basketball, not NFL Football.

I remember being nine years old and in a total trance when Jordan played the Pistons. I was an Isiaih Thomas fan and loved Detroit. But watching Jordan play and continue on to dominate the league, I just knew he was something special all along. Then he went on to beat up my Knicks team. No matter what Ewing and Starks did, I knew they couldn't beat MJ.

that series, you will become converted and you wont look back. That was the raw MJ in his prime. The showcase of talent skills and grace... this guys must have a deal with the devil, its not possible. There is nobody to compare if jordan is in todays ERA, it would have been the most magnificent explosion of sports magnified by social media. This guy doesnt need to talk, this guy just surpass every expectation every single game. Everyone thought he will never get a ring, he dont have a team. Then pippen and the history manifest itself that he is above magic and bird with less to no superstar... pippen as an allstar thats the beginning of the greatest dynasty of the modern NBA.

He did those moves in an era where it is illegal to carry/lift the ball while dribbling. There is also no gather step then 1-2 that time, as soon as the ball is carried it is automatically count as 1. They can hand check, push, even hack yet he still delivers. By the way, a collegiate MJ with college players as Team USA defeated NBA All Star in team USA's tune up game.

I recommend you watch. "Come fly with Me" that's Michael at the height of his power's it's probably the best documentary I've ever seen in sport's.. and I'm a die hard Spurs fan. B.t.w. Jordan's grandpa use to stick his tongue out at his work as did his father so it was a kind of a family tradition.

I remember when he was a rookie. Then achieves Magic and Bird status. TIME magazine had a cover on him. I thought the only way he could get any bigger was to win a championship. So he won 6. Two 3 peats. Just soared on up.

Huge Jordan fan here. But I’m an 80s baby - so as I was a huge fan of 1990s MJ, I really didn’t see the 80s MJ… since I was born 2 years after he was drafted 😂, but my whole childhood, he was it. I remember KG and then Kobe getting drafted… all 3 retirements… everything. Except the 80s

Jordan went for the basket when it counts James tries to get the foul in crunch time thats why Jordan will always be better in my opinion . And if Jordan played in this era the way he played back then you do 10x better then the rest because flopin and going for the foul over goin for the bucket is the biggest flaw of the NBA today

The thing about bringing Jordan forward in the modern game is the question of giving him space, no dominant defensive frontcourt, and prob most importantly the newly legal footwork. Imagine giving Jordan a sidestep, step back, euro option with his skill set. Then imagine he gets to take ten threes a game like superstars today. I just don’t think people get what he would capable of in todays nba.

You can also consider that the 3pt line was adapted by the NBA in 1979 and the NCAA in 1986. So players like Magic, Bird, MJ etc weren't really practicing the 3 early on unlike the kids today.
