never played this game before, but my friend said it was his favorite of the total war series and highly recommended I get it. Felt quite confused from the amount of manus and options so this video definitely helped quite a lot! Thank you so much 15 years later!
Sam Horder I agree but the joy of empire is that it’s simple and total war politics are very basic usually. Research trees need to have faster research but more stuff because end game tech you only can really use at the last few turns
May as well go all the way, make it as deep as EU4. That'd be amazing. Vicky 2s population mechanic would be pretty cool as well, but just a simple population system such as in Rome 2 DEI would be sufficient.
before you start playing campaign (if never played total war series) to do a few battle you create, also battles where you are in disadvantage so you can use those grey brain masses. when you start campaign I advise starting with a bigger nation so it takes longer for you to die if you aren't used to the game (that way you learn as you die) for example I started with Great Britain (used to total war) and I took over quite fast. have fun playing
Started my first campagne 2 weeks ago. I guess that this unpolished diamond makes for a game that seems super interesting and makes u feel free to go nuts with your campagne, also because you feel in the beginning like there is so much detail to take into account, IF it was only polished enough and was given more time to develop more in detail, so it’s potential could be used effectively for the enjoyment of the game. THIS ( I think) makes people want to know more about the game; because you wish it had more dept, care and attention to detail given given to it so
Yup Same Here, but I have to say the list tip is really nice, because I often forget to move this one army. Though I have to say the way tax works in empire isn't exactly the way portrayed. More people doesn't equal to more tax. Tax is a percentage of the regions wealth. The regions wealth grows due to the towns and different technologies and the growth is hampered by a high tax rate on the upper class. So to sum it up: lower taxes on upper class = more wealth in the provinces = more tax in the long run Lower taxes on the lower class = more/faster towns = more regional wealth grow = more taxes (or other stuff like research if you choose so)
I came from Command & Conquer and love strat games with a certain passion. Very very good video. It helped me out lots. It was a wonder why i was finding the game annoying when things weren't going to plan. If i could give this video a double thumbs up then i would. I hope to see many more of your work Mr. Beaumont!
Actually a larger population doesn't affect your wealth. It's what structures you build that give default wealth to your regions and there may be a steady growth over time. However, everything else you said about population is correct.
I focused to much on military and completely neglected my populace and farming and stuff and ending up going bankrupt and losing units and getting taken over
Funny but I usually end up getting destroyed because I neglect my enemies and focus instead on securing trade nodes and managing trade. Netherlands is great to play as if you want to make money
Its based on play type. If you want to kill all of your Enemy and lose some more of your troops continue the battle. If you want to save some of your men end the battle. The first one is more satisfying.
Whem it comes to trade ports, you also need to look at how much of that region's resources are being exported. That will also determine whether you need to upgrade your trade port or not.
I started with Great Britain in short campaign and just finished it and now i think to conquer all the world. It was my first campaing in ETW and i made some mistakes but with the time goes on i learn from them.
i a history nerd was happy when i found out that you start in 1700 at the start of the great northern war between denmark, Poland-Lithuania and russia VS Sweden
i should point out you do gather resources, its just the game automaticaly sells them and buys the resource you need to construct. (check the trade pannel for a list of resource prices)
I really got to say that the tutorial was very basic, but the last stuff you said was very (and then i mean very!) interesting. Hope you make more detailed videos on each problem, if so you just got another subscriber! :-)
@paintballer1231 If you haven't done this already then you might want to try this, try offering unlimited military access as this will be a huge advantage when negotiating. This works well with the smaller nations as well. They never take advantage of it.
