    I have the GH5 and the battery grip. I didn't even think to store the leads protector with the grip; didn't even notice the slot for it until you mentioned it for the G9. That handy little tip alone was definitely worth the price of admission. That was gold. Thank you.

    Thanks for the video. For the screen, I use an old mobile phone, the one before the last one. If someone bumps into me - I'm 6'3" and rather large build, yet they still don't see me - and knock the phone off, it's not the end of the world if it breaks. I was once pushed into the corner of a building and damaged my gimbal, and the phone fell on my foot and bounced away. Still works. I use a Smallrig mount. Expensive, but good quality.

    Good one. And now with the G9 firmware update 2.0 the video is even closer to the GH5. and I do prefer the body of the G9. best of both worlds! nice joby accessory great run and gun set up. Auto focus is good enough, low light still tough unless you are doing tripod and static subjects. But that is the sacrifice with MFT I am fine with. final thought, a speed booster and some good old fast primes ( i inherited a Nikkor 85mm f1.8, with the metabones speedbooster I can get a lot of light to the sensor) There is a lot of heavy glass in those great old vintage primes. thanks for great vid

    I do understand that this is an old video. However, my question if you wouldn't mind answering if possible, is will the slide rig allow for an extra mount plat on the bottom to be used together with the Peak Design camera capture plate. I really like the idea of what you have, but I am a deep backcountry wilderness landscape and nature photographer, and the capture plate locked to my backpack strap is an absolute must. Do you see a way that they could be used simultaneously? Thank you.

    Darryl, I’ve been a Panasonic user mainly the GH4 and the G7. I do 50/50 photo and video, and recently began doing more portraiture and fashion photography. I was tired of the soft images coming from the Panasonic’s and I recently “upgraded” to the Sony A7iii...and although the images are absolutely stunning coming out of the A7iii, I just can’t LOVE it the way I LOVED using my GH4!
    How would you compare the G9 to the other big cameras like the A7iii and the new Nikons?
    Thanks mate!

    I have the Lumix G9, so far have enjoyed filming with it, except having to manually zoom in and out while filming. I've been researching different manual or Servo gear driven Zoom controllers on the market. So far I have only come across a few that might work. I film a lot of nature and landscapes using the zoom feature. Are there any quality servo or manual zoom controllers for Panasonic Lumix lenses that you know of that can get the job done in a smooth fluid fashion without braking the bank?

    • @drewllew
      @drewllew 6 років тому

      In good light, my inexpensive Olympus 40-150 f4-5.6 works well as a video lens on the G9. With a little practice, and with the camera mounted on a tripod (a must), you can get pretty smooth zoom movement with it. It's not like servo, but works well enough, and can be had for $100.
      Maybe a visit to your local camera shop is in order.

    • @3DEditor
      @3DEditor 6 років тому

      @@drewllew This wasn't the answer I was looking for. I don't need another lens, and I practiced by hand enough to know it's nearly impossible to get consistent continuous fluid flow beginning to end by hand. Thanks for your response anyway.

    • @drewllew
      @drewllew 6 років тому +1

      @@3DEditor Understand. But two key things I forgot to mention: that Oly zooms much more smoothly than the Panny lenses; when I suggested you visit your local camera store, I meant to add to try other lenses, and to see if they have any servo attachments you could try.

    Like your reviews and I wish you success with your channel. That said, you can take what I'm about to say either as a nit-picking comment OR as a helpful suggestion. I think you can increase the number of followers choosing to subscribe to your channel by avoiding mistakes that make you appear less erudite and therefore more credible. I listened to your description of the L-Plate several times, and I don't think it's a matter of my being unfamiliar with a N.Z accent that I distinctly heard you you say "bullet" aluminum. It's actually -billet- aluminum, which is used to describe metals that are used to machine parts from rather than casting. Copper, iron, titanium and many other metals can be had in billet form. Hope you take this comment in the helpful spirit it was intended, and just to let you that I think, otherwise, your reviews are quite good, I will subscribe.

    • @DarrylCarey
      @DarrylCarey  6 років тому

      Thanks Rik, always happy for suggestions :) Gosh I must have been in NZ to long and my British Accent is mixed with some Kiwi :). My understanding was the L-plates are made from Billet blocks as casting is not as strong as Billet as you are machining from one block with CNC machines and casting is poured into a mould. Most of the Taiwanese companies I have worked with over the years have always used CNC machined Aluminum for parts as casing is not as strong.

    • @fredio54
      @fredio54 4 роки тому

      @@DarrylCarey Don't worry, POHM, there isn't even the most remote hint of fush and chups in that accent! 100% UK very obviously. As you were. You can CNC machine from cast or extruded or "billet" or forgings. What you start with and how you get it to shape are somewhat independent. If they machined it from a bullet, though, it must've been a BIG one. ;-)

      The difference in weight between FF and MFT is large and significant for someone like me entering his dotage. I have an f1.4 25mm Panasonic lens that is all but weightless, and a f2.8 45mm. It's barely heavier. I have two zooms, running from 14mm to 300. Two FF lenses going from 28mm to 600mm would be too much for me. I frequently take three lenses with me on a shoot at minimum. No way I could do that with an FF. The G9's extras weight over the G7 is noticeable, but the reason I went for it is that I'm a big bloke, with massive hands, and the G9 fits perfectly.

      @@WritewheelUK Hm I don't know what state of mind I was in when writing that comment. But I ended up buying a g9 used but in pristine condition and the 100-300 mm tele. So I guess disregard my comment. Oh yea also the camera is great, exceeds expectations and I don't know why everyone cries about the autofocus, it's perfectly fine.

    Quite funny how all of these items are so far from "must have"

    Well, all I can say is that your choices seem ridiculous to me (also a G9 owner). So sorry I wasted my time watching.
