    wow! who knew the cold song was originally written for a baritone, thank goodness he sings it now

      It works for both baritone and counter tenor. (I have heard it sung well by both, and Scholl is one of my favorites!). In Purcell's time, as in Handel's, the parts often interchanged, as, for example in Handel's numerous revisions of Messiah, depending on what singers were available.
