    Nice any work needed to be Done to the chassis or suspension wise you know tie rod ends, ball joints, center link, idler arm, shocks, struts, springs, new bushings. A brake system over haul a new pad rotors rubber break lines & especially a built rear end to handle the motor even if it is a stock 454? I have a 84z28 that I want to put a 454 in but saw a forum say I need to put all that in to even consider a 454 swap? Any tips you can give me

      This engine is a 454 cubic inch small block chevy, a big bore stroked small block; not a big block. It makes right at 600hp at the crank. I did beef up the car to handle that much power, the build is as follows.
      Engine:
      454 cubic inch small block Chevy, .638 in. intake/.622 in. exhaust lift and 251° intake/259° exhaust duration @ .050 in. lift roller camshaft, Aluminum 64cc chambered heads with 2.08 intake/1.60 exhaust valves and 220cc intake/67cc exhaust runners, Edelbrock Super Victor Intake, 950 CFM Holley Double Pumper, MSD 6AL Digital Ignition, Doug’s Long Tube Headers, Dual Exhaust with Black Widow mufflers.
      Transmission:
      PATC Level Three Raptor 700R4, with a 2600 RPM non lock out Stall Converter, B&M Megashifter.
      Rear End:
      Strange Engineering S60 Rear End, with S Trac posi, 3:73 gears, Strange Engineering chrome moly 35 spline axles and a Strange Engineering chrome moly drive shaft with 1350 U joints.

    How do you like the big block compared to the 383?

    • @redneckdrifter
      @redneckdrifter  5 років тому +1

      The 454 is also a small block Chevy, aftermarket block, 4.250" bore X 4" stroke with six inch rods. The 454 is a beast compared to the 383 and the car is is simply amazing with this engine.

      @@keatongreen2450 No, the small block motor mounts work on this motor; it's still a small block Chevy, it's just bored out to a 4.250" bore and stroked to a 4" stroke.

    Any custom work needed to put a big block in a third gen?

    • @redneckdrifter
      @redneckdrifter  5 років тому +4

      No, a Big Block will fit with out too much trouble, that said, this 454 is a small block and is the exact same outside dimensions as any other small block chevy.

      Not really. Honestly you might as well call it the best bolt on money can buy for a third gen. You might have to dimple a header but that's about it.

    I don't mean to be a troll but that was the lamest video EVER! Here's a new description that might be a little more fitting: "454 third-gen Camaro never above idle for over 9 minutes." I will never get that time back! DAMNIT!!! I love third-gens and you ruined perfectly good storage space on a server somewhere!
