Great job to you both! I am a U.S. citizen who has been dreaming of spending time abroad since I was a kid, but ended up spending all of my 20s doing what I felt needed to be done first for my life journey. I earned my bachelor’s degree then worked full time for several years and paid off my student debt while also caring for aging family members. In my mid-20s I came out as FTM and completed a lot of my gender transition goals (came out at work & socially, started HRT, top surgery & hysterectomy with oophorectomy, and I updated all of my legal documents, etc.). I gave myself plenty of time for my body and appearance to change and adjust to it’s new normal of having those medical changes since I wanted to have the peace of mind of being “settled” in my body before heading to a new country. I found this video encouraging and helpful with answering some of my curiosities about living abroad while trans, especially with planning how to travel with bulk amounts of testosterone and staying aware of testosterone shortages. I have been considering completing a master’s degree abroad and am still deciding whether to pursue a working visa first in a country followed by going back to school or pursuing a student visa first. I definitely have a preference for working first, but we will see how my research on different countries policies, academic programs offered, and general job availability goes regarding this…. Thank you both again for doing this and I hope you have more wonderful adventures and explorations in your futures!
