There isn't a more Perfect Wagner voice than Flagstad's. I'm sure THE maestro himself would have picked her for all his major female roles
La wagneriana más grande entre todas las grandes. Voz bellísima, bien emitida, bien apoyada, con una naturalidad y emoción insuperables. Pena el ruido. La voz suena más clara aquí que años después, pero no menos poderosa; sí más fácil. Insuperable.
This is surely a performance from Covent Garden, and 1936 or 1937. Flagstad sings some of Brunnhilde's music so tenderly here. I have never heard her sing so sensitively before. It is too bad that there is a lot of surface noise. Perhaps recent re-issues are better...

Who cares? Just edit out the surface noise and realize what was possible once upon a time!
It is 1937, Melchior was the Siegmund on this Evening and Furtwangler gave the Heil Hitler after the performance, the arsehole that he was!
