I am interested to know what are the decks that you decided to keep out of all the ones you heard and repaired so far? This is a very good deck by the way, I am surprised that you are letting it go.
@TheMagicStar80 well, having multiple decks is like having multiple cars. Even if you enjoy them, you have to use them to keep them in good shape. I generally use 3-4 decks and sometimes pull out other decks to play around and bring some color to the gray day. That is why I decided to shuffle decks, sell some, get a few more to fix and see how they perform. My favorites are Nakamichi 6xx series, RX-505 and Sony KA7. I like decks when I see the tape. I still hope to complete the fix for a hum noise in my Revox. Pioneers are good. Akai decks are good either. But only the Sony is precise to the point of being digital sounding decks and Nakamichi is the best sonically even if they are not 100% precise. I love decks from the 1979-1984 era. They sound special, very natural and enjoyable.
@@hifirulezzz I think you got the right approach. I feel the same as you do about them. I dont use them often lately but would like to get back to them in the near future and listen to them and also record with them. My favs are similar with yours such as 680ZX quality and extreme sound for both playback and recording, RX505 nonstop playing and also amazing output sound but dont use it for recording purposes. Sony have also some other models that I enjoy for their amazing output sound (Japanese version and European version) and also recording capabilities but also love some of the Akai GX series 3 heads but also Gx-R99. I still cannot say goodbye to the reel to reel deck my Akai GX636 model as l enjoy it too). The Japanese (Akai) A&D 91000 EV is one of the most amazing deck for recording in my opinion. Thanks for your opinion! I value your information you provide on these vintage decks and let's listen to music how it was meant to be listened to on analog tapes! All the best!
What a beauty...❤❤❤❤ Imagine working as an engineer at Akai Japan in early 80s and designing this beast .
❤❤❤AKAI GX F
