I only played Dynasty Warriors 4, so not familiar with the rest but enjoying your series, years later haha. So far, Ma Chao's story is my favorite. It had a more interesting arc and felt like the character had grown, whereas most other characters seem to stay the same.
It's a completely fictional battle that was made exclusively for DW5 to be a Shu vs Wu counterpart to the Battle of Wu Zhang Plains. That's why it's never shown up again, because future games opted to hew closer to real life history and this was no longer necessary.
Oh god... This stage was BRUTAL on Shu side. I remember Liu Chan kept dying so much because i got too carried away rescuing other allied units who were in trouble. Definitely not a fun experience 😢.
