Imagine taking up a beloved book franchise to adapt after so many years and already one failed attempt, just to change it so much it shares basically nothing but the name with the original work, while still expecting to keep the book fans as a loyal viewer base? Netflix have been doing that shit for years, and always end up cancelling those shows (sorry, I'm not talking about you Heartstopper) once the book fans leave and their numbers go down. One of the best TV shows ever made ended up like that too eventually (hello GoT). It's a no-brainer really.
@@ladysan_ the show wasn’t produced by netflix, but rather - peacock. i get what you’re saying and understand your dismay, but that is often what happens with book-to-screen adaptions. it sucks for original fans of the novel but i think production was going in a different direction for the show and what they wanted even if that deviated greatly from the book series. regardless, some people enjoyed what production created with the vampire academy universe and others didn’t which perfectly okay. i personally enjoyed the show even if it got one season and that’s just my opinion on that respectfully

I'm just sharing my opinion, and I have absolutely nothing against your opinion of the show. :) I know it wasn't produced by Netflix, I just used Netflix as a reference because they are the streaming service probably most infamous for ruining TV shows by deviating from the source material all the way to non existence and cancelling the shows one by one, due to low viewership, after doing so. When even actors quit because the show deviates too much from the source material, you know it's bad. It is a terrible business model to adapt a beloved book franchise and count the fans of the source material into the estimated number of viewers and expect all of them to stay when the series turns out to be something completely different, and then cancel when they leave. Of course they're not gonna put in the time and effort, after expecting to see their book played out on screen and being let down. I could see this coming with this one without even watching it at all. An eight year old could figure it out, and yet the production companies never learn. I guess at the end of the day, it's their money and their loss. I'm just gonna go on in life pretending this doesn't exist, forever mourn the loss of never seeing Bloodlines-Adrian on screen and keep trying to figure out why the movie flopped, which was basically perfect in comparison.

Adrian is one of the best characters in this entire book franchise (+ Bloodlines spinoff ofc) and if they only put him in one episode that's more than enough reason not to watch this junk. (Yeah yeah, I know Adrian doesn't appear in the first book, but who cares. From what I've read in reviews of this show, the creators don't give a rat's ass about the source material anyway. I'm even surprised to see they actually kept the "Hello little dhampir" quote.)
