This is just a theory but maybe April didn’t enough love and attention from her parents. His parents are putting pressure on him and trying make him something he’s not and controlling his life without listening to him. Things must have been really bad with April and his parents if he run away from them.

As much as I love this video, if you or another person is like Daniel in this video. Search for help, don't hide it cause it'll just hurt you or them mentally and physically. This can happen to ages 10 and older or even a younger age. I know searching for help is hard and you would feel like you're just bothering people with your problems but you're not bothering them. Seeing how much his parents follow gender norms, Daniels sister was probably incredibly jealous of him
Traditionally, people would train MEN to be soldiers, not women, so she'd be neglected in that sense, seeing as how his parents clearly favour him and probably did before she killed him to. Their son, the one child they have to train to meet up to their soldier goals ykyk?
We ourselves know the attention he got (being trained to be a soldier and such) was not good, but from her point of view, he was given all the attention she wanted from her parents, while she was neglected in that sense purely because of the gender she was born as and their gender norms
(Not saying this excuses her actions in any way, Daniel was a CHILD. 6 years old. and she killed him out of jealousy on his BIRTHDAY of all things. So no, not an excuse, but probably a reasoning)
