Take it easy Martijn. Whatever it is, let’s hope it passes soon. Great video as always, you’re doing something many others can’t even dream about. Including me.
It’s getting cold here in Canada, and I can’t imagine not feeling well and living in a tent in this weather. No such thing as just hunkering down in bed and resting in the warmth. The combination of your edits, shot angles layered with the aural richness of some of your scenes sometimes catch me off guard and remind me of how masterfully you present these videos. The overhead of your working on the gables and the shot from behind as you go see the cows especially with its the musical underlay I mention as examples. Real happy to know you have a local stone roofer to advise, you’ll only have one shot to get it right for the next 100 years.
Thanks for such a special special episode! Something shifted, perhaps it is the season changing (the abstraction of the leaves on your transparant kitchen roof) but it felt like sitting down in a comfortable chair and reading a book that you know you're going to love.

It is a challenge to anyone's health to work and live in all kinds of weather and not compromise your health from time to time. I'm sorry you're not feeling your best and hope you heal quickly. I selfishly look forward to your weekly updates and videos but care even more that you heal yourself first...and So, I want to thank you for sharing your life.
I agree with you Lois it’s just the most beautiful and peaceful place I’ve seen, it’s like he has a little peace of heaven up there in the mountains 🇦🇺
It’s all coming together slowly but surely. It’s no wonder you’re a little as you mentioned “under the weather “. That’s a lot of hard labour and mentally you’re always figuring things out. So body and mind have been hard at it. Glad you take time to go for walks and clear your head and relax your soul🙏 thank you for allowing us all into your life.
I’ve been watching since the first week. I’ve learned so much and have found deep enjoyment watching the progress. I’m an old mom, so I get concerned about your health and safety, Martijn. But thank you so much for sharing your journey.
I agree with what you said, Martijn doesn’t mind to admit when he has errored and quick to give advice on how he could have done the wood splinter a better way. I like his relaxed way of doing things and certainly not afraid of hard work. To me this is an ideal life☺️
Oh my! you've done a lot for someone not feeling well, hope it doesn't last much longer. So, I knew there was a town below you, but had no idea it stretched out so far. Thanks so much for that beautiful night shot. You live in such a beautiful area it would be crazy not to take many different photos. Can't wait to see the outer shell, walls and roof all done, it surely will look awesome. So great to know people who know how a project should be built correctly. You have been blessed to know so many different people. Goodby cows! Take care Martijn!
I had tears in my eyes at the end there and I don’t know why.? Maybe it’s the beauty of your surroundings or that you aren’t feeling too good, but I’m so looking forward to next weeks episode… it always starts my Monday mornings off with a positive attitude for the rest of the week. Thank you for sharing your life….
Yes. I get a strong emotional reaction to Martijn's videos too. I contrast the peace and honesty (Integrity? Authenticity?) of Martijn's life with politics in the States. Which is healthier? I am longing for the Real rather than a Big Lie.
Loved the obvious gray of rain, but until I heard the drops I was'nt aware it was rain...so sad about cows being moved. Am going to miss their "symphony". Really was interesting to see your building the stone wall from above! Such complexity. The fallen leaves on the tent....those chestnuts--I've never had them and was perplexed at the thorny cover. OH!! That night scene of the mountain below!! Never realized how many people live there! Thank you for sharing. God bless you.
When you're not feeling well, get the garlic out and either eat one clove a day raw or 3 cloves a day cooked in your meals. Also lots of vitamin C helps too, whether you take a supplement or get it from fruit. Home made chicken soup with lots of veggies helps too! ... Hope you get better soon!
I cannot thank you enough for the deep pleasure your videos bring, Martijn 😊 Only sorry that you are not quite 100% at the moment, especially with the need to finish the walling before winter makes roofing too difficult. It’s so interesting to see how you are constantly working out better, more efficient ways of working without loosing the rustic simplicity of your project. So glad you’ll be having some company and extra help shortly. My family lived in a remote valley in the West Country some years ago. After Christmas people would sometimes drop off their unwanted cats, who had grown beyond the cute kitten stage, at the end of the valley. It took my husband several days of wiley temptations to encourage Tomas, a big but battered Tom cat to let him help. Finally he gave in…moved in…. and lived happily ever after. Every time of the day or night Tomas could be heard purring steadily as he curled up in the corner with our two cairn terriers. Quiet company can be comforting. Thank you so very much for the joy you bring to us all, no matter where in the world we live or whatever language we speak. Your beautiful work speaks directly through our minds into our hearts. That is a treasure behind measure. 😊
Even though cats hunt, they need the nutrition that comes from food we supply them. Eating nothing but protein supplied by mice/rats, their lives are shorter if they don't get their food supplemented. With winter coming it would be a good idea for you to feed the cat. They come for the food and help to keep the mouse population down. So please supplement the cat's food and maybe a warm blanket out of the the weather to be warm, especially during storms.
Perhaps as the winter draws in you will be grateful of a little furry company. Btw put a stone slab in front of your stove..just in case a cinder or log drops out onto that nice rug.
Thank you Martijn for your commitment to creating a work of art. As a remote audience, watching vicariously, we can only imagine the effort, dedication and discomfort you endure to restore those two old buildings and present your journey to us. As an aircraft/avionics engineer living in New Zealand I've enjoyed the research you've done to prepare the way and resolve problems to fine tune your vision. Also your willingness to learn and make changes based on new knowledge and recommendations from others. Keep up the good work, press on when the going gets tough, and take care.
Good news getting a tradesman for advice and on site. Your methodical approach and getting advice is helping you move along nicely. The more advice you can get from local tradesman the better, they know the conditions, the materials and the regulations, and most importantly, do this work everyday, for years. One thing I have learned as a tradesman myself, is that each trade has a VAST depth of knowledge required, and unlike yourself, those without these skills usually have no idea or respect for what is required. We have a saying in Australia about “weekend warriors” and how the purchase of a circular saw instantly turns a city accountant into a master builder who knows more than the tradesmen who come to fix his mistakes. Keep up the good work mate!
Martijn, thanks so much for the video. "Beautifully exposed" was so apt to describe the chapel! The lights in the valley at night was worth this video. Thanks for the inspiration, industry, and love of life you illustrate for us all. Love these!
I love the sense of peace that I get watching your videos. The views and scenery are phenomenal, especially the drone footage. I love the abandoned structures around you and, if I weren't so old, would love to be doing what you are - restoring life to an ancient way of living.
Me too. Loved the two structures on your walk. I could feel them coming into beautiful, usable spaces. I envy your youth, strength and mobility. Hope you are well soon. Like everything else in your videos, I have been feeling your malaise as though it were my own. It is a beautiful place you have chosen to live. I admire your spirit and taste. I hope your future there will not be adversely affected by the state of politics and the events in the world near you.

They're beautifully shot, expertly edited, informative and entertaining. I also enjoy the range of what you take on. From masonry, carpentry, gardening, cooking, bread making to who knows what else. It's quite remarkable. I'm not a regular commenter, so excuse me using up space for my thoughts. Keep up the good work. I'll be watching.

Blessings and gratitude Martijn. I love how you’re tuned into the body’s slowing down for winter 💜 It never ceases to amaze me just how much one pair of hands can achieve. This is a regular Monday Moments with Martijn 😊 see you next week
I bought my husband a kindling cracker a few years back . He loves it. I was worried about safety too. We heat with wood. So wood is our life in winter and consumes a large part of our time the rest of the year. Amazing how how one gadget/invention can make a difference in your day to day. I enjoy the videos, from SE Oklahoma, USA.
Greetings Martijn from Australia, We get your videos on Monday morning. It's always a pleasure to view your progress. Thank you for sharing your life work. Looking forward to one year progress video. Cheers!
Thank You Martijn ... best part of my week is watching you go about your day on the mountain. Hope you will will feel better soon... lots of work ahead of you.
Aww, what a gorgeous video Martijn, hope you feel better soon. Nice to have a cat around. One found me last year, she was starving, and became my good friend. We adopted her eventually.
Love to watch your progress. Takes a lot of patience, you apparently have that. Beautiful views. Hope you start feeling better soon. Will pray 🙏 for you. God Bless
Interesting how that sometimes when we share what is healing and beautiful to us, we also give healing & comfort to others. What is it about doing physical labour, about the beauty of nature unplugged, about craft and creating something useful? Such a beautiful work, Martijn, worthy of God.
Dear Martjin - since ur very 1st video (nov..21') I've been captivated & so look forward to ea Sunday....rest up & take good care or yourself....there aren no words that have not been said that I can say...other than I feel part of your slice of heaven & feel like you are my friend....sending basketfuls of love and awe to you from Boston MA US - You are exceptional & your 'being' emits peace, love, patience and curiosity YOU ARE SPECIAL - A SHINING LIGHT on planet earth xoxoxo
Take it easy and I hope you will feel better soon. Thanks again for yet another super video. Seems unfair that your hard work is my relaxation viewing. 🙏
I’ve been watching your progress since the start and it became so part of my life. I just can’t wait to view it every week, so calm and relaxing, watching your progress and admire the beautiful surroundings. Thanks for sharing with us.
Waited again to see how your getting on...glad all the wood is piled neatly now...I love how the kitchen has evolved. Again it's great the way you film and so envious of your daily view. I cannot not wait to see the roof finally finished... Hope you get better soon and at full fledge ...warm regards Si 🍄🍄🍄🙂

Thank you Martijn for always making us feel almost at peace with your serenity and those awesome scenery. The frase “under the weather” was created exactly because of the changes of heat and the cold, our body can feel it and it takes a few days to adapt to it. Feel better and lots of tea w/🍋🍋🍋!

You have done an amazing job thus far, the evening and drone views are stunning, truly a beautiful area you are in, hope you are much better soon.
I always watch your videos on my TV via Roku, so I'm never able to comment. But I felt compelled to jump on my phone and drop a note. Your videos are awesome and I look forward to them every week.
Recipe for the relaxing Sunday video - panoramic vistas ☑️, gentle music ☑️, simple cooking ☑️, building updates. We have it all.
The view of the city and surrounding countryside at night was breathtaking. Literally. You're making good progress. As always, the cinematography is brilliant. Thank you-
The zipper sound and then the block of wood out of nowhere was so funny hahaha. Poor kitty.
Blessings and gratitude Martijn. I love how you’re tuned into the body’s slowing down for winter 💜 It never ceases to amaze me just how much one pair of hands can achieve. This is a regular Monday Moments with Martijn 😊 see you next week
First time I've seen the valley at night. Didn't realize how populated it is.
I hope your body adjusts soon to the change of season and you feel healthier Martijn. Thank you for a lovely video as always. Blessings to you🙏
Finest videography on UA-cam, bar none. You’re a master creator. Thanks for all the time and work you put into this work for all to enjoy.

Aww, what a gorgeous video Martijn, hope you feel better soon. Nice to have a cat around. One found me last year, she was starving, and became my good friend. We adopted her eventually.
34:23 this shot just took my breath away, it looks so peaceful, so serene.
A pleasure to watch. Sorry to hear you're feeling a bit under the weather. Try and get some rest, Martijn.🍂💕

I’m really enjoying your journey! Some of us had to live vicariously through others.
The advice from those who know comes at perfect timing for your roof..well done
Nearly there for the last part..🌱🌲🌱
Yes time to let go the underberrier and focus on the stone end knowledge of the master coming by
Interesting how that sometimes when we share what is healing and beautiful to us, we also give healing & comfort to others. What is it about doing physical labour, about the beauty of nature unplugged, about craft and creating something useful? Such a beautiful work, Martijn, worthy of God.
Hope you feel better soon, Martijn. Sending healing vibes your way. Take care and thank you, again.
"I can't express how much joy these videos bring me. Very inspiring". I concur 👋! Thank you, Marijn. Great is your reward ❤.

I love how the architecture evolves to adapt to the living conditions. Still catching up with the videos from day 1.
Hi Martijn, thanks for the great video as always. Nice job on the stone work. Be well and safe.
This is by far the most stunning vlog series I have seen on yt. The filming, the editing, the music and the views… shocking 😮. It’s really impressive. I am so thankful for this content 🙏🏻 thank you so much ❤
Thank you Martijn for always making us feel almost at peace with your serenity and those awesome scenery. The frase “under the weather” was created exactly because of the changes of heat and the cold, our body can feel it and it takes a few days to adapt to it. Feel better and lots of tea w/🍋🍋🍋!
Hope you’re feeling back to your usual self soon. It’s a liberating energy you exude for the viewer regardless. Thanks as always for sharing?
So impressed and grateful that you are sharing with all of us ....Thank You! 🌀💚🌀
