Lovely lovely Carol Sue I see the heel of the father Crush the head of the serpent for you And that beast who found His way up to your room You know the one the one Who's colors are never true Yeah you do Yet all the while 'neath His banner you did stand 'Neath the shadows of his wings Do you remember? Sorrow stands near and close at hand Sorrow stands an in sorrow's hand The burning ember He'll come a cinder Fire call the kettle black The dark can only hinder it Will not hold you back Nor tear you asunder And the good shepherd Lo he left all the others An went to look for you Yes and he did find thee An with bruised hands He did unbind thee Brought you out Into the light of day He'll come a cinder Fire…
Great performance, my favourite 16hp's song. Also, I love the way the bass player moves. And his axe is wonderful - i'm totally gonna buy a Gibson Thunderbird one day
I make the same question every time I listen to him...and he's fanatic as ti seems...one time he said that music exists to thank god, it is used as a pray...
For me music is some kind of emotion. Every time i see and hear this song I get so freaking emotional, especially with the violin playing woman at the beginning. Love the combination of all kind of instruments together with the raw voice of DEE, too bad this band stopped.
Still can catch a song or two at a Wovenhand concer. Don't pass out on an opportunity to listen to DEE if he comes close to you. I listened to him here in Serbia, Eastern Europe, and I got to say it was magical. I also like the 16 horsepower most out of all his bands.
Actually, DEE, the frontman for 16 Horsepower is a Christian, but the other members of his band are not. 16 Horsepower broke up because of religious and political issues apparently. Now, two bands have formed off of 16 Horsepower...Woven Hand and Lilium. Woven Hand is DEE's band, and Lilium belongs to the other guys. DEE still plays with the other guys from time to time though.
I know enough to realize that if I throw some wood together haphazardly it will never become a boat w/o a well-thought out design.. and to laugh at the idea of a human (or even just one of our cells)existing as the result of happenchance & evolution instead of a supremely smart designer. "Evidence" tends to be subjective to what the person wants to find.
You are lucky to have such television programs, here in Russia TV sucks donkey's ass. Luckily, we have youtube and torrents, so nobody needs it anymore. And I agree that this is great album, my favourite among 16hp's albums.
Thats what I was getting at. I wasn't trying to offend you; I was curious what experience you had that brought you to that conclusion. To me Christ seems to be more about relationships rather than religion, besides, from what I can tell, the Bible doesnt shrink from intellectual scrutiny, on the contrary it invites it. 1 Thessalonians 5:21 says test everything. Hold on to what is good. I wouldnt simply toss it aside because of sour experience. Test it and methinks you wont be disappointed.
I'm not really talking about religion (I don't care for it personally) and I know you asked a question, I'm just not sure what your conclusion is. So where does your reasoning take you?
Don’t confuse chance/probability with randomness like most literalist Christian’s do. It makes them & others making these arguments sound ignorant and frankly, stupid. Evolution is not a dangerous idea.
You should pursue further your reasoning, indeed, why does some one so clearly gifted and brilliant believe in the Bible? Your original question implies that there is something of a disconnect between intelligence and belief. Perhaps you should reevaluate your premises.
But intelligent people tend to be skeptical and ask more questions about what's in the Bible, and if you ask those questions, you should come to the conclusion that the Bible contains contradictions, and should therefore not be considered (fully) credible.
Had the privilege of meeting and talking with him after a few shows in the mid 90s...amazing and genuine ....sincere
This is always amazing, no matter how many years pass.
Clasic muzik
10 yrs since your comment and its still as fresh a song
does this band (and Woven Hand) create the most beautiful, unpretentious music in the world? me thinks "Yes"
This is a one of a kind band. Their simaltaneously expressive depth and musical precision requires an adept palette.
David Please! come back with 16 Horsepower Please!!
David is a hand of god, absolutely amazing
Omminous haunting brilliance
`awesome band they sound even better live. the girl on the violin rocks. unbeleivable sound
Just simply amazing. I'm really digging 16 Horsepower's tunes. I love this live version.
Awesome band! One of their best songs performed flawless...
Wow, more powerful live than on the album IMO. Elin Palmer's violin kills me on this song.
mesmerizing, hauntingly beautiful 🛐
Lovely lovely Carol Sue
I see the heel of the father
Crush the head of the serpent for you
And that beast who found
His way up to your room
You know the one the one
Who's colors are never true
Yeah you do
Yet all the while 'neath
His banner you did stand
'Neath the shadows of his wings
Do you remember?
Sorrow stands near and close at hand
Sorrow stands an in sorrow's hand
The burning ember
He'll come a cinder
Fire call the kettle black
The dark can only hinder it
Will not hold you back
Nor tear you asunder
And the good shepherd
Lo he left all the others
An went to look for you
Yes and he did find thee
An with bruised hands
He did unbind thee
Brought you out
Into the light of day
He'll come a cinder
Fire…

Awesome band!

Great song. Visceral and spiritual all at once.
I wonder what guitar David Eugene Edwards is playing. Very unusual.

Kills me in a good way. I should have said blows me away.
That would be Elin Palmer, I believe
no, this is Elin Palmer, who is David's daughter's former violine teacher
Ама няма такава група!

Would you like to site some examples of contradictions?
Cite. Look them up yourself. I came up with over 30 in a Google search…
kills you how?
Thanks for the post, this is one of my faves! Is that his daughter on violin?

excellent observation. Am I pretentious? Yes I am.
Don't confuse evolution with chance - the two couldn't be more different.

let's hear what you got. I'm betting they are all user error.
I think that's David Eugne Edward's daughter, but don't quote me on that.
So tell me a little about the relation to Christianity that I hear this band believes in.

ironic post- you have to be fairly pretentious to not only ask yourself questions, but then to answer them- just an observation
powerful performance!!
