Inexpensive airbrushes seem to have got a lot better recently. Not just in construction, which seems to be with better materials, but also the seals seem to be PTFE and the features you get. The early brushes I got had rubber seals that just broke down and caused problems after a few months. Useful review.
All these cheap airbrushes are garbage. But people that can't paint all think these are good because their skills are so poor, that they wouldn't be able to paint properly no matter what airbrush they use. And that's why you guys can't tell the difference. The skills are so weak that as long as it sprays you think you're doing well.

@@vincentpritchett1231 I used iwata sparmax harder steenbeck. In my opinion, iwata brushes are unnecessarily expensive, especially Eclipse, which has been receiving a lot of complaints in recent years. I found even Sparmax to have better workmanship than Eclipse

I would say that there are a few things to look at with a dual action airbrush. First off is whether it spatters a bit of paint when you just push down for air or delivers a paint flow before you pull back for paint. This can be a right pain when doing fine work on a model. Second is when you pull back for paint you need to see a very progressive increase in paint flow. Definitely not nothing and as you keep pulling back still nothing then a sudden flow of paint. This is almost impossible to deal with. Those PTFE seals may need replacing periodically so I hope they are generally and easily available and cheap. It brings back memories of my old Badger 150 where those seals had to be replaced often. I found some lasted a lot longer than others.
Well Gary, I took the plunge and bought one from Amazon UK for £44.99...What can I say? It is indeed a revelation! Okay, I am fairly new to Airbrushing ((I'm a born again modeller, now 65, last built a kit over 50 years ago!) I originally bought a compressor with a tank and a Airbrush came with it. It looked good but what did I know? It sprayed terribly...or was it me? After being convinced the Chinese Airbrush I was using was, shall we say, 'Not up to par,' I eventually bought a H and S evolution and that was an epiphany! however I am at a stage where I wanted a back up an 'All go to'' second airbrush and after watching this (and a few others) I took the plunge. Why by no means am I an experienced airbrush user I have had brilliant results with this, dare I say as good and maybe better than my H and S Evolution. Oh and finally they must now be stocked in the UK as mine arrived the next da! so they must now be stocked here, either that or someone has resurrected a Concorde! Thankyou very much for the unbiased objective review! You DO know your stuff!

Thanks for the heads up Gary. My daughter has just treated me to one of the Greenstuff World airbrushes, my main go to are my Sealey airbrushes. I use them mainly for my business but have couple of the top range for my models and miniatures. Still, at that price I may take a look at one.
Just got back into model building after a 20 year hiatus. The initial price of airbrushes put me off but this review finally convinced me to pull the trigger on buying one. The quick-change nozzle setup - I have the Harder & Steenbeck Ultra which has the same kind of arrangement - Also comes with two needle/nozzle sets (0.2 and 0.4) and has two paint cups, or you can leave the cup off if just using a couple of drops.... Of course, being H&S it cost rather more (about £90 when I bought it around 2018-ish) but I love it - so versatile and user-friendly. Looking to replace my old generic Chinese airbrush soon (which I use for primer and clear coats) - One of these would fit the bill very nicely - would be great to have two very versatile setups.
Did`nt really need another airbrush, but Amazon have it at £33 and next day delivery if you have Prime. Could`nt resist an airbrush with two needle sizes , PTFE seals on all paint contact areas (so I can use enamels and lacquers)and some spares and some lubricant. The chrome finish is top notch and appears equal to my Iwata revolution and H&S Ultra as is the body work assembly compared to my Fengda 183. Interestingly the three sizes of cups on the Fengda 183 also fit on the Gaahleri GHAD 39. Thanks for the heads up.
I recently bough a GHAD-39. I'm pleased with it so far and I bought it at Amazon for $30 USD. The only complaint I have is that the lever guide is not attached to the needle chucking guide and makes it a Royal Pain in the Rear to put back together after cleaning. So I would caution watching a video of someone reassembling it. It took me over one hour to do so and I almost threw it in the garbage because of it..
Comprehensive or what, Gary. One way you could improve on this, you can come and use it for me! Back to the Revell Mayflower and migraine. Revell with parts that fit where they touch. But I won't be defeated. Thanks for the video Gary.
Gary, thanks so much for bringing this airbrush to light for me. I just received mine and it has done great on the camouflage for a 1/72 Hurricane and overall dark sea blue on a Hellcat, also 1/72. The weight compared to my old airbrush is nice. The added heft does remind me of a quality pen, as you opined. The control for doing detail work is great. I used the GHAD-39 to freehand some of the Hurricane camouflage and it turned out better than anything I've done previously. Overall, I believe this was WELL worth the US$46 it cost me. (The discount code must have expired.)

Over the past two or so years I’ve acquired three Fengda brushes with various needles etc. (It was cheaper to buy a new air brush for parts than it was to buy the actual part!) Fantastic when you are using different colours at one sitting 😊 Quick release valves, bought separately are a must, even if you only using one brush! Have a nice weekend everyone, Ian
I did the same,and with the money i saved i bought a ultrasonic for the deep cleaning. 3 years of great results without problems with those €30,- each airbrushes. But decided to buy that pistolgrip nodel from Gaahleri in the near future. Think they are good value for money.
Watched this last week as Ive been interested in this brand for the last 3 or 4 months but was waiting for it to be put on general release here in the Uk so after hearing how you got your for such a good price I followed the link had got one and having had it delivered and I have used it. I am very impressed by it. To the point I think I prefer it to my H&S Infinity CR plus!! Well certainly in terms of the smoothess of its trigger travel. Its as easy to clean and maintain as the Infinity CR plus too.
Morning Gary ,I brought an airbrush set from Amazon I saw Graham at wood hill park use one it’s battery powered and is great for large area painting and is my first and only airbrush to date ,I’ve in the past used brush or rattle cans and you’ve seen my results ,one thing that I want to get right if I do buy one is the air supply ie the compressor that’s the one that daunts me I’ve seen cans you can attach them too but a good value compressor for someone who occasionally sprays models ,could you do a quick video on them ,I know your very busy mate or point me in the right direction please All the best Mark 😊😊
For a compressor I'd suggest a Timbertech - they are reasonably priced and seem pretty reliable - mine is three years old and still produces a steady pressure flow even without an air reservoir. You can get them on Amazon.
Thank you another interesting read. Whilst looking at them on Amazon US I noticed they offer a trigger grip Gaahleri. Apart from the brand engraving it looks identical to the Fengda trigger brush. I know Fengda supply several brands so perhaps there is a tie in somewhere. I have a Grex and Iwata trigger brushes and some traditional, but suspect my arthritis may make me lean more to the trigger versions over time. Interestingly I could find a exactly the same Fengda set in the U.K. great price with the discount.👍

I was pleasantly surprised to push Tamiya grey primer mixed 60/40 with Mr Color Self leveling thinner (unicorn tears) on the point 35 needle and tip. Thought I would have to switch them out, that's how good that 8point tip is. Don't think about it, Get yourself one. Even as a backup, you won't regret it. Nice weight, decently balanced with the small cup on it full. Will warn you, they go surprisingly quick, they are that good.

I also have 3 airbrushes. 2 Sagud's and a Ghad-39 (the one Gary is showing ). The Sagud's we're only $5 cheaper than this before there was a discount code. I'd rather have two of them then rather than the Sagud's.
Looks interesting but I use a LOT of stuff diluted with Lacquer thinner and the last "budget" airbrush I got the seals just melted/softened. Looking at the inside of the box I see one is labelled teflon which implies the others are not?
Hello Gary. I am going to buy a compressor and a Gaahleri GHAD-39 airbrush, so I sent Gaahleri a message a couple of weeks ago asking if the compressors can be used with 230V power. I have not received any feedback from Gaahleri, and see that your discount code now has expired. I am a beginner with an airbrush, and wanted to buy an airbrush according to your good advice. It seems to suit my needs well. But now that won't happen.
Well hold on just a while Terje, because Gaahleri will reopening a UK and Europe store on Amazon soon and then will have compressors as well as the range of airbrushes. In the UK at least the compressor will have to come with a moulded 3-pin power plug. When they are available I will make sure the discount code works - its also a way for them to track how many people buy stuff after watching my videos!
@@garys_stuff Thank you for your quick feedback and for helping me out. It's not the three pins I'm worried about. There are many converters from 3-pin to 2-pin earthed system, and as far as I know you run on 230V (50 Hz) in England. It might solve my problem as you say 👍🙂. It was the USA's 110-120V (60 Hz) against the Norwegian 230V (50 Hz) that could cause problems, and which I asker Gaahleri about.
@@garys_stuff I have looked through your presentation video of Gaahleri GHAD-39 one more time, and I wonder how "advanced" is spelled in English. Is it like I spelled it or is it like Gaahleri spelles it ON their airbrushes: "ADVANCAD"? It seems to be a lack of quality control in the their production line of aribrushes. No answer required 🙂. By the way. I saw another brand of airbrushes with the 8 channel nozzle on the internet the other day. The same solution as Gaahleri's airbrushes.

I have been using it all the time and it’s working fine. A trick I picked up was to use hot water to clean it between colours and at the end of a session (plus a bit of airbrush cleaner afterwards) as I’m using acrylics. I am about to put up a video on the trigger action version of the Gaahleri airbrush as well as one from the next step up in their range. I will confirm the code still works for all of them in the next day or two. I’ll also see when their UK/EU presence on Amazon is due as that might make things easier for shipping.

@@garys_stuff Yeah, waiting for a response. On a hunch I pulled the needle guide and o ring out and sure enough - it's housing is conical so the more you screw the needle guide in, the tighter the o-ring gets. 1/8th turn out and the needle passes through with relative ease.... Bad design?

Great tip. Thanks Gary. I’ll keep an eye out for a restock at Amazon, I’m looking for a cheap airbrush with 0.5 needle. Tired of having to keep swapping needles on my current airbrush.
I was pleasantly surprised to push Tamiya grey primer mixed 60/40 with Mr Color Self leveling thinner (unicorn tears) on the point 35 needle and tip. Thought I would have to switch them out, that's how good that 8point tip is. Don't think about it, Get yourself one. Even as a backup, you won't regret it. Nice weight, decently balanced with the small cup on it full.
Will warn you, they go surprisingly quick, they are that good.

I also have 3 airbrushes. 2 Sagud's and a Ghad-39 (the one Gary is showing ). The Sagud's we're only $5 cheaper than this before there was a discount code. I'd rather have two of them then rather than the Sagud's.

Looks interesting but I use a LOT of stuff diluted with Lacquer thinner and the last "budget" airbrush I got the seals just melted/softened. Looking at the inside of the box I see one is labelled teflon which implies the others are not?
I use an Neo for iwata airbrush, £50, although I would like an H&S airbrush

I am going to buy a compressor and a Gaahleri GHAD-39 airbrush, so I sent Gaahleri a message a couple of weeks ago asking if the compressors can be used with 230V power.
I have not received any feedback from Gaahleri, and see that your discount code now has expired.
I am a beginner with an airbrush, and wanted to buy an airbrush according to your good advice. It seems to suit my needs well. But now that won't happen.
Well hold on just a while Terje, because Gaahleri will reopening a UK and Europe store on Amazon soon and then will have compressors as well as the range of airbrushes. In the UK at least the compressor will have to come with a moulded 3-pin power plug. When they are available I will make sure the discount code works - its also a way for them to track how many people buy stuff after watching my videos!

It's not the three pins I'm worried about. There are many converters from 3-pin to 2-pin earthed system, and as far as I know you run on 230V (50 Hz) in England. It might solve my problem as you say 👍🙂.
It was the USA's 110-120V (60 Hz) against the Norwegian 230V (50 Hz) that could cause problems, and which I asker Gaahleri about.
@@garys_stuff I have looked through your presentation video of Gaahleri GHAD-39 one more time, and I wonder how "advanced" is spelled in English. Is it like I spelled it or is it like Gaahleri spelles it ON their airbrushes: "ADVANCAD"?
It seems to be a lack of quality control in the their production line of aribrushes. No answer required 🙂.
By the way. I saw another brand of airbrushes with the 8 channel nozzle on the internet the other day. The same solution as Gaahleri's airbrushes.

Just watched your video and bought one from Amazon you might like to update your info as I paid £44.89 including postage [prime] with a one day delivery, been using an IWATA Neo which is very good albeit £30 more expensive!!
Thanks for the info - when I made this I don't think Gaahleri had UK distribution directly with Amazon, so the pricing was for the US site with shipping. Once all the models are available directly in the UK I'll do a range review update.
forgot to say that I enjoyed the video, just getting into airbrushing always loved using acrylics as a painting medium so I am scouring youtube as a learning aid

Hello, I was wondering how you are getting on with the airbrush? Is it performing as expected, also does your discount code still apply? Many thx.
I have been using it all the time and it’s working fine. A trick I picked up was to use hot water to clean it between colours and at the end of a session (plus a bit of airbrush cleaner afterwards) as I’m using acrylics. I am about to put up a video on the trigger action version of the Gaahleri airbrush as well as one from the next step up in their range. I will confirm the code still works for all of them in the next day or two. I’ll also see when their UK/EU presence on Amazon is due as that might make things easier for shipping.

Yep, bought the GHAD-39 and its GARBAGE. Needle is so tight inside the body the trigger simply does not work.
Get in touch with Gaahleri and see if there is an issue with your airbrush. They may well replace it for free.
@@garys_stuff Yeah, waiting for a response. On a hunch I pulled the needle guide and o ring out and sure enough - it's housing is conical so the more you screw the needle guide in, the tighter the o-ring gets. 1/8th turn out and the needle passes through with relative ease.... Bad design?
@@garys_stuff Gaahleri replaced the airbrush free of charge citing a bad needle O-Ring/Needle Guide. They stated no replacement parts available - it's all or nothing!
