The riverlands is Belgium. There geography matches and the rivers too. Not to mention Belgium has been called the "battleground of Europe" just as the riverlands is the battle ground of Westeros.

I always saw it as Ireland cuz of the rivers and his green and all the Tully’s actors with the exception of Lysa are Irish even Peter who’s a tully die heard is Irish .

Why can't it just be it's own thing? Sure GRRM took some inspiration from real places and events but he definitely made them very different too.

As far as the Blackwoods and Brackens go, they could just separate their turf via the Red Fork that way they can stop having their little wars.

The Rhineland is more dominated by its river and its branches though, so I'd say that comparison is more apt

So the ghost of high heart has some similarities to the children and she obviously follows the old gods, despite the Starks also following the old gods, they have a history of bloodshed with the children, one of their alleged ancestors was Brandon of the bloody blade, who murdered many children at red lake in the reach, which, compared to where the Starks live in Wibterfell, isn't to far from high heart. I think this could be related to Arya and how the ghost of high heart saw her as being connected to death. Obviously the main thing is that she joins up with the faceless men, but I think this could potentially have stuff to do with the old gods and/or the others.

I feel like Aegon shoulda absorbed the Riverlands and the Northern Reach into the Crownlands and shoulda built his capital on the Trident. This way his descendants woulda been able to hold the Kingdoms together.

The smart move for any Lord in Westeros who was granted Harrenhal would be to tear it down and rebuild it, but have as a more manageable sized castle. I mean there are gaping holes in the roof's and walls in alot of places. Why they were never repaired properly if at all after Aegon's conquest is beyond me?
The thing is you need a lot of men to man the castles, which would mean it would require the resources of an entire kingdom/region, so if the Tullys don't make it their seat it can hardly be filled, I mean yes you can fill 1/4 or of it or so, but when someone sieges you would have to run around defending a settlement 4 times as big as it should be. It's inconvenient.

Definitely recommend watching this video before reading A Clash of Kings and A Storm of Swords to be more familiar with the Arya/Catelyn chapters (unless you haven’t watched the show nor read the books yet)

0:27 they are at an excellent defensive position, one 3 rivers in the southwest and one fat one and two crossings in the northeast, coupled with sea prospects if they can figure out how to deal with the iron islands, one brief stretch to the west and they will have the perfect foundation for a trade empire. They have a major water resource smack in the middle with an island to govern over the rest. Why, why why why would you call that a bad defensive position?
