I really appreciate your comments about rotating different repellents and that the smell will dissipate rather quickly. Great explanations - thanks for the good video.
Hey Devin I mentioned about peonies videos well yes I will watch them but they are starting to sprout up from the ground I am so happy. They are double peonies. I am on the east coast from Massachusetts! Yay!
I had a problem with deer eating my roses, Sunpatiens, Coneflowers, and even the top branches off a baby Peach tree. So I bought a bottle of "Repels All" that contains Capsaicin, the substance found in hot peppers. Much to my delight the deer have left these plants alone ever since I started applying the pepper spray every 2 or 3 days. After about 3 weeks, I stopped using the spray entirely, and the deer still didn't bother the plants. My theory is that the deer learned that the plants in my yard do not smell good and are not good to eat. (As Devin mentioned in another video, deer do seem to have the ability to learn.) But if a different deer comes to my yard and munches, I'll start with the spray again, and since the premixed sprays can be sort of expensive, I found a recipe for making my own pepper spray at home and I might whip up a homemade batch.
How interesting 🤔 Deer repellent 👍🏻 Thank you for sharing with us. Glad spring has arrived where you are, still cold and frosty this morning here in UK 🤷♀️ Yay 1st comment 🎉
I did not know that I should be changing the brand of deer repellent spray that I use on a monthly basis. Here we are in early July in my zone 6B garden, and the deer have decided to use my gardens as the buffet. I will be going out to buy, and spray another brand of deer repellent on my hostas and lilies. Thanks for letting us know that we should change up brands every so often.
I have never thought of alternating sprays. Interesting. Last year I started Liquid Fence and it worked…until August rolled around and most of my plants were destroyed literally a day after spraying.
Thanks, I've used the liquid fence product with good results, my only issue is the product seems to clog the sprayer a lot! I've had to return many bottles of the spray as well as the hose end sprayer version. Have you had this issue?
My worst adversary last year was the woodchucks! They would wait until the new plant growth was about five to six inches high and then graze on everything that we planted. It was so discouraging. The deer seem to be more picky about what they feast on.

Happy to help! Deer spray saved my garden
Thank you for this. I used the granules all the time. Now I know to switch every month. Will try the liquid fence. Thank you Devin.😊
Glad it was helpful! It has really saved my garden

Mine are popping up now too!

Love hearing your plants are protected 🙏
Thank you for the tips and the HOPE! I have never had to contend with deer before, and they do not fit in my big plans for my new, small-ish yard.
It takes perseverance!
Why are you so GORGEOUS Devin?
Lol

Yes i've learned this from personal experience!
Which one last the longest and have you noticed if one keeps them farther away than another one? How close do they get before they smell it?
Hmm that is tough to say re the first question. They’ll go right up to the areas that have the spray but won’t eat
I make my own spray with egg yolk, baking powder and water. It works but you have to remember to spray again if it rains cause it washes it away.
Awesome! Thanks for sharing Patricia

Yes I’ve found that to be essential bc they all have different ingredients

It happened to me so often that now I have hired my lawn mowers to do it monthly for me bc it was so frustrating
That's good to know, glad I'm not the only one, I may do the same.@@plantvibrations
I'm new here to your channel and I love your videos.
There deer repellents fo work!
Thank you!
Thanks for joining jimmy!!
Dont the granules wash away after watering the plant?
It’s like a slow release fertilizer
I always wondered if you have to reapply after rain. I’m thinking no, since you said just once a month.
I do not. After one or two rains it’s still good but after a month it starts to lose its power
Will the aromas also keep pollinating insects away?
Nope, pollinators can still easily smell the nectar !
Thanks Devin great information! Don’t want them to munch on the 11 plants from Roberta’s I just planted☹️
Yes you want to keep them safe!!

oh no that is really frustrating. have you tried the repellant?
Thanks for sharing

THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Happy to help!
Thank you
Welcome!
I have a sprinkler system that sprays the area AND the potato plants that are being destroyed by the deer ... what do you recommend?
It is worth trying. Just spray when plants are dry and try to keep sprinklers off them for a day or so
THX SO MUCH!@@plantvibrations
